Sunday after to everyone...Angiebubs you are the best...I'm gonna try for sure....let me see if I can work something out...

Up to 28 tomatoes that are waiting for a canning jar....prolly salsa with the first canner or two.....I need to bring some to the bash for a real taste test.

Ham and cheese with broccoli salad tonight....I coulda fed 15 people yesterday.....guess it's my fault for overdoing it.

Well the Gille's are a maybe for the show... We are heading out to Seattle to visit our DD on the 5th of Sept and coming back that weekend so hard to know how we are going to be feeling.
Jim, I so admire all the hard work you do, never have to worry about idle hands there.
Packer game was so so and the storms sure messed up reception out there. Enjoyed the Brewer game more!
Almost thought we were going to buy a new refrigerator... Everything in this house is on borrowed time... 20 years LOL It has a water dispenser that didn't want to stop dispensing... Think we have it cleaned up and crossing fingers it is just a fluke... With my luck will be x-mas eve and I will have a flood in the kitchen.
Talking about stumps I am thinking the way we treated a red pine stump maybe why the Mountain Ash lived only 5 years and now my little flowering crab is looking a little peeked...but I think it may have missed watering a couple of times. I know we drilled into the original Red Pine stump and put stump killer in it then the following year pulled it out once it had rotted over the year...But makes we wonder
Only two tomatoes here but I think tomorrow night will mean BLT's
Treated the chickens for a 2nd time for the lice... but not sure what to do as the neighbor probably will not be treating hers and the two groups share our bird feeder and other areas

good early evening,
I got the lawn mower hung up so badly on that dead furrow, I had to go get the the tractor and lift it free..

my stumps used to make a row of birch trees right along side of the pine trees.. now they are a nuisance in the middle of that reclaimed lawn.. they are the main reason I was not mowing down there.. they are hard to see in the grass and then I hit them with the mower blades.. I have 3 blades on my mower deck, and they each have shear pins,, each pin cost over $12.oo .. I have replaced each one at least once and some twice.. so I am really shy about hitting anything solid.

after I got done mowing, I took the tractor and back blade and worked the dead furrow a bit.. It didn't do a real good job.. weeds are too thick.. I will have to drop the blade and hook up the rear cultivators. after I get dirt showing, then I can blade it sloping and smooth..

we had pork chops, mashed taters and chipped beef gravy,, and corn on the cob.. white and yellow and locally grown.. It was just OK,, I thought it was a bit over ripe or else picked too long ago..

If that price holds up, I think I will plant a lot more next year and sell some.. can I say that on here ?? I meant, give it away...

My sister emailed me right after she went to church.. from Korea.. she went to the church that the Pope is going to be at in a week or two..Sis won't get to see him because she is leaving the day before he arrives..
Her daughter is teaching in Korea... She spent a couple of years teaching in Spain prior to this..
IDK if she chooses to go to these places, or if she gets chased out of the countries ..

Helped out for a local fundraiser tonight: I am not even going to tell you what we had for dinner.......... It sure was tasty!!

I have a few toms ripening outside. I have two green tomato varieties out there so how does one determine when they are ripe????? Looking forward to eating them though......

Evening everybody.
Went to the Ladysmith swap today, and it was actually a pretty good turnout! Still not much interest at all in the duckies but we did manage to sell 3 of our 6 week old Rouens. Not much but enough to put a little gas in each of our cars. Now's supposed to be the season to get new stock for next mating season but I don't see much of that happening. If they're not little cute fuzzy ducklings, they don't want them. They don't even realize that we did already the biggest and messiest part of ducklings! Oh well...

Gave out a few of the business cards that I made up and hopefully will get some feedback on those. We shall see...

The brat got back from his friends today (so he gave us an extra day of relaxation!) and is gonna be leaving OTR tomorrow. Socks in the new gazebo, cigarette butts everywhere hurt like his spit bottles and used drink containers and plates. Gonna take all the stuff and put it in his bed if he don't clean it up. I really don't care if it spoils or rots in his bedding... Hehehe. We'll see who will win as his dad won't say a word other than "oki" when I complain and ask him to talk to his brat. So now I'm stringing up different sides to my behavior...

Nothing else new here otherwise. Besides, does anyone have a couple (possibly a pair) of goslings? A friend of our was looking to give her lonely goose another companion as her prior one got taken. And the lady we got ours from don't have or hatch anymore. Possibly anyone closer around my area instead of the 'down under' Wisconsinites would be great. No pun intended

Oki, still immensely tired from another short night and early morning full of stomach cramps. I made my planned plum streusel sheet cakes (yummy smells around the house!) and am totally wore out and tired.

It was nice seeing you again Sammy at the swap, I'm glad you got to sell a few. I know exactly what you are saying about doing most of the hard part but for some reason when you at those swaps selling they want those cute little babies, I learned my lesson last year and that is why I sell the young ones. The only problem I've been getting is if they happen to die in their care they expect you to replace. I had one lady there that had a 3 month old die and wanted me to refund or replace. I can't guarantee a bird that old and I don't know what is fed, how it's fed and if their are any unknown diseases they have.

All the birds are home from the fair and in quarantine. They aren't happy one bit about it, but after seeing some of those birds there I have to for my flocks sake. I did trade 3 chicks for a trio of Mille Fluer D'Uccles for my son to raise for the fair next year. Also bought 40 quail eggs to incubate, got them in the Brinsea as that is my best bator and want to have the best possible percentage of them hatching. I did bid at the auction on 4 of them but the bidding went to $600+ dollars, it's because it's junior fair and they get much more than normal for their stock. Had Tyler watch the auction to open his eyes about how these kids hard work pays off at the end of the season. He has now decided to raise a pair of ducks, rabbits, broilers and our normal chickens to show. He also wants to raise one beef for next year too.

Now for some much needed help. I have an opportunity to purchase some a Foley cockerel and some pullets and I would like some opinions. These birds are between 4&5 months old. Here are the choices:

I am not hatching any more this year..

you are not going to find goslings at this time of the year very easily ..
