Thanks for the update on the bator Vicki, if anyone on here knows of a
Brinsea for sale please let me know, my friend is very interested in purchasing one but it would have to be used as she can't afford a new one at this time.
Things are completely a mess in my life, BIG BIG troubles with my youngest son 13(14 on the 29th). To the point I may lose my grand daughter and it breaks my heart.
My new BLRW are so awesome, their lacing and color is the best I've seen yet that I could get and they are from Jerry Foley which makes it even better. Now just to wait until they start laying which should be very soon. They were hatched in March and I can see some color starting on the pullets. The Roo has absolutlely no brass in him and makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.
Sammie I'm so sorry I couldn't work things out to bring you to Ricestonian, but honestly you didn't miss anything. Turnout was so low I didn't make gas money even. Hope next swap has a better turn out.
I've decided to downsize my flock and no more Lav Orp, I'm giving my hen away to a friend who had a rooster and wants to start breeding some. My Black split hen throws 3/4 lav chicks so that will be nice for her. I sold my Maran hens at the Fall creek swap and a lady is suppose to be coming this afternoon to get my Cochin bantam quad. I have a Black Wyandotte hen yet I'm selling and will have things where I want them for now. As soon as the new BLRW pullets start laying I will be selling the BLRW Tyler won Grand Champion with at the fair.
I took all of my kennel panels and those hay dryer cages I got last year and made a huge fenced in pen in my back yard for the chickens. For now each flock gets the whole run for a day and I keep switching. I am building a new coop on my raised garden framing that will be 12xabout 20 so I can house all the chickens in the winter. It's going to be insulated very well, I don't want to lose any chickens like last year when the temps drop so low.
