I am not NPIP and I feel my flock is just as good as the ones that are NPIP..

In some cases, even better,, i have not has a salmonella outbreak like a couple of large egg producers just recently had..

good morning,

had a couple of terrific storms run through here from 3 to 4 AM today.. power went off and on a few times..

Cind, Dora was not a huge fan of getting into a car... and she was suspicious of strangers..
ie. I don't think anybody took her.. dogs sometimes do go hide to have their pups..

she might have gone across the field into the neighbors yard .. there are lots of things to crawl under over there, too..
all we can do is wait.. she will come when she gets hungry,,
and if she is gone, what can we do ?

Thanks for the update on the bator Vicki, if anyone on here knows of a Brinsea for sale please let me know, my friend is very interested in purchasing one but it would have to be used as she can't afford a new one at this time.

Things are completely a mess in my life, BIG BIG troubles with my youngest son 13(14 on the 29th). To the point I may lose my grand daughter and it breaks my heart.

My new BLRW are so awesome, their lacing and color is the best I've seen yet that I could get and they are from Jerry Foley which makes it even better. Now just to wait until they start laying which should be very soon. They were hatched in March and I can see some color starting on the pullets. The Roo has absolutlely no brass in him and makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

Sammie I'm so sorry I couldn't work things out to bring you to Ricestonian, but honestly you didn't miss anything. Turnout was so low I didn't make gas money even. Hope next swap has a better turn out.

I've decided to downsize my flock and no more Lav Orp, I'm giving my hen away to a friend who had a rooster and wants to start breeding some. My Black split hen throws 3/4 lav chicks so that will be nice for her. I sold my Maran hens at the Fall creek swap and a lady is suppose to be coming this afternoon to get my Cochin bantam quad. I have a Black Wyandotte hen yet I'm selling and will have things where I want them for now. As soon as the new BLRW pullets start laying I will be selling the BLRW Tyler won Grand Champion with at the fair.

I took all of my kennel panels and those hay dryer cages I got last year and made a huge fenced in pen in my back yard for the chickens. For now each flock gets the whole run for a day and I keep switching. I am building a new coop on my raised garden framing that will be 12xabout 20 so I can house all the chickens in the winter. It's going to be insulated very well, I don't want to lose any chickens like last year when the temps drop so low.

Good Morning,

I haven't been around in a good while. Been busy around here with building new hutches, chicken huts/runs and stuff. It is a grey rainy day. The chickens are hiding in the coop/trailer. The ducks on the other hand are in their glory running through the muck. Turkeys have taking to hiding under the outside rabbit cages. I am awaiting a litter of rabbits to be born. Due today, but she may just hold off until next weekend. I get to spend my day checking on her every two hours. When I am not checking on her, I get on the minions to get their chores and school work done. They want to play on the xbox. I took that away and gave them each a room to clean.

Next weekend I think we will be building more rabbit hutches, and mucking out the coops. The one needs a complete cleaning, but being as it is a low ceiling I am not looking forward to it. the trailer coop is so much better. I can stand up in there to clean. Not fond of the low ceiling, but we didn't build it. Chickens may not need a high ceiling, but people do in order to get in there to clean and not kill their backs.

The garden is a fail this year. Late start and then no real warm weather has about done everything in. Lettuce and such are thriving, but the tomatoes and the corn are very sad looking. Well have to run and clean some more and check the expecting mama. Laters all

Morning everyone. Foggy and very humid after all the rain that started last night. All the good storms went right by as (as usual) and just left the fog and humidity to wade through.

Stacie, no worries bout Saturday. But if you need any help with anything, LET ME KNOW! I'm there for friends who need me. No questions asked. Plus, I need more duck weed. They keep looking in the empty bucket searching for the good stuff ;)

Jim, I know how worrying bout Dora is no fun. But it will be even sweeter once she shows up with all the new puppies in tow! Then the mess and chaos inside begin yet again for you. Lol

All is well otherwise here. Gonna clean out the nasties again in a bit for he don't have to do so much tonight after work. And maybe give it a chance to dry.

Created another duck box/house (old shipping crate) for the littlest ones. They are so afraid of the scovies! It's funny to see them run from them all the time. And the geese are guarding the yard, driveway and keep everyone in line. Didn't know they can sound like peacocks! Lol

Tried to make a substitute for my Nutellla bread with German chocolate pieces heated in the micro for a few and of course slobbered all over the fresh clothes. Go figure! But was still good. Now gonna muck the duckies out, then change and head to town for a coupla days. Tty then!

HI, just a quick hello, I am 130 posts behind... staycation was ok, my father in law passed away last monday, so glad we decided to stay vs go. It was a blessing though, anyone that has gone through losing a loved one to cancer, it is a horrible horrible beast.

what they go through at the end is a blessing when they finally go.

on a side note my neighbors dogs paid us a visit.... while my sitter was watching the kids, we are down to 6 chickens now.... ugh, guess ya can't plan for everything, planning on hatching next spring, just no energy for it this year and my egg lady's chickens have slowed down anyhow, i'm taking that as a sign. anyhow, I will catch up on posts and write some more.

over and out!
