Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Anyone else been sparse on the # of eggs lately? I think all of my girls are on strike! I'm getting one egg a day if I'm lucky. I think they are going through a mild molt. I see feathers, but no naked hens!

Jim- I know that Theo loved that wood pile, so I can only assume his momma showed it to him! She'll come around soon!

I canned 5 jars of salsa verde, 9 jars of black raspberry jam, and froze about 9 gallon bags of yellow squash yesterday. I was on a roll! It started with the desire to make breakfast for the family

. Nathan and Ryan dug up the neighbors choke cherry tree, they are installing a new fence and offered the tree to us

. Otherwise, it's been a busy weekend as I did a 5K (which I'm sore from), canned, did laundry, etc. So, I've determined that it is margarita time! Enjoy everyone!

Cheers

Tons if rain here til this morning. Then cloudy and cleared up to sunshine and a good breeze this afternoon. Made for good working on finishing the corner unit of the condos. SO finally (!!!) made up his mind and actually built a tower straight up instead of messing with the leans and angles. Plus, it looks so much better. Just like I told him all of two months ago already. But we know men...

My one Pekin girl has a really bad bumble foot (again) and we can't find a kernel or get anything out. Looks all like fatty bubble, is starting to get really hit, harder and painful for her. Wish I could get rid if it and not having to stress and dig around on her anymore. Gonna get some PenG tomorrow and try that besides the digging, clear iodine, BlueKote and Vetericyn before bandaging it in gauze and vet wrap. Just don't wanna have her suffer any more than necessary.

Otherwise just busy here with everything. Still wasn't able to sell any ducks and can't figure out why. And I will NOT butcher them! Well, there are like 2 or 3 more swaps we can try. Then I guess we will keep them over the winter and try again next year.

So long, gonna settle down and relax some now after a long work filled day. Night everyone, and hopefully not much more rain.

hello all, well chicken chase was AWESOME. my oldest was the only one of my kids to "chase" I just took the boys (6 and 3) and little girl stayed home with daddy, who had hurt his back while who moved cattle and weaned my little beltie. I will post pics this afternoon and hopefully get feedback on what we got... all I can think is a mix.... is black/brown/greenish irridescent colored feathers and has yellow legs.... "jewel" is her name. lol. never seen a more proud kid. his "favorite" chicken. I had to make him leave the coop last night. and theses other kids need to be taught how to hold a chicken, poor things! they were dragging them around by their legs. pretty sure some of them didn't make it through the day. yikes.

goose fence is working for now.... little heathens go up and test it from time to time, but so far so good... we scrubbed the deck up really well, so fingers crossed, this is my first day away while they roam free to attack the fence....

fingers crossed for Dora! do you or a friend have one of those wildlife cameras? one of my cousins' does... too bad we live so far apart.

Just checking in. Not much action around here. So no news on Dora ? Or is it Nora ? Sure hope she is ok. If she had the pups someplace you would think she would come out for food and water by now. :(
Keeping my fingers crossed. Sun is out but I don't think it is going to be an all dayer.

good morning,

it is Dora, I finally gave in,,

rained and thundered pretty hard here about 8AM but 5 miles south it was dry..

I think Dora would sneak out after dark for food and water..

No trail cam here,,
I am not too sure I really want to know what goes on out there after dark ..

It might not be too muddy to finish setting up the hoist beam,, I have it raised up, but not leveled nor plumbed or braced..
I raised it up with the loader arms..

the two other people who Annie talked to each said that their dogs would hide for up to 3 weeks.
that is not like Dora, she preferred to have them on our couch if we would have let her..

Aw Jim, I am really hopeful for Dora. I remember last time you saying she wanted to have them on the couch!
mom gotnus a new saddle yesterday :) good thing I told Sydney I would ride first. He had on Brownies saddle before. And no issues. But it was so weird. When I told him to walk, he ran backwards! And crashed. Luckily asnhe went down, I was able to step out of the saddle. Neither of us were injured. Just shook up. He even waited to stand until I told him it was ok. After the once overnon both of us, I thought it best to get back on. So that is whT we did. And from there on out everything was pretty normal.nhe was still anlittle nervous as was I. But we road until we both settled. And we willnkeep at it for a bit before I trust him riding with syd.
