Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Maybe a little pre-chase instruction course on proper handling of chickens with plenty of volunteers to help.

Really??? No one in here was amused/shocked to learn that people travel with pet chickens wearing chicken diapers??? I cant believe Sheri didn't get a picture.

Cuties what are you trying to get rid of by fall? I was going to keep a bcm roo.....( 4 were roos....1 hen ) but they are very melanized (sp?). Want to have a roo, don't see any of them I want to keep.

good evening,

I finally ate my first plum from my small "orchard" (4 trees)
I have been waiting for about 5 years for this..
they are good sweet plums.. no insect damage, (yet) . maybe next year ? who knows .....
they are just starting to get ripe, and tonight we are supposed to have high winds..
that'll put them on the ground, eh ?

more good news.. we got baby #6 from the 6 eggs Annie rescued from that guinea nest..
I put them all out into the chicken coop with their 60W mother .. I checked up on them a few times during the day and they are all doing just fine..

are you horsey people all stocked up on hay for the winter ?
it might be hard to come by this year.
I know some people don't start to panic until they are down to their last week's supply ..

..........jiminwisc.........

All evens out. 4 of the OE's are pullets. Of course the hands down favs by wife & daughter are the brahmas. At 9+ weeks I BELIEVE 3 are pullets and one cockerel. This is the roo the girls want to keep.

No go.

Chickies are well here. Tired from 12's. But making it. We are also posted Saturday :/ I suppose I could use all the extra $ because of kids bdays and such. Didn't do much with the horsies as I got home after 7. And by the time chores were done the skeeters were out.
Realised at 8 (bed time) there was still homework to be done. They are now allowed 15 minutes to read together before lights out. Hope they are not too crabby at 5:30! Time for some catching up :)

Oh by the way I thought the chickens in diapers going on vacation was hilarious! Wish there were pictures. Do you know what color or breed they were? Trying to visualize! LOL

Hi All!

I got my turkey pen delivered today! It's a bit more beat up than I thought, but will still be fine with a little cleaning and repair. I also know about where broody turkey is. She is somewhere in the weedy garden we never got planted this year. This weekend I'll try to get her in her new digs. I can check the eggs while I'm at it. She's not as friendly as her sister though.... any tips?

Finally got all the supplies I ordered for this batch of quills so I'll be very busy. I was hopping they would have come before Labor Day but no such luck.

That's it for me..... Night All!

if you move the turkey, she might quit the nest .. some do, some don't ..
I wouldn't bother checking eggs.. the birds do that on their own,,
