Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

just came down to turn off the computer,

yep, I cooked up all of the fish tonight,, had enough for six more people,, there were only 3 of us here,, I trimmed the catfish real carefully,, did it ever turn out great.. the northern, crappies and walleye were naturally great,, I will be having a fish sandwich tomorrow..

made a dusting of flour, corn flour, paprika , black pepper, cayenne pepper and salt.. dipped the fillets in milk and covered them with the flour.. makes the fish really nice and crisp..
cast iron pan fried, in deep oil..

yeah, we fillet the northerns the same way .. Dave is much faster at it than I am.. he fishes more than I do.. I can beat him hands down when it comes to crappies and bluegills, though..

good night ..

Yep, I love "pan fish" most of all! Nothing like a Bluegill or Sunfish! Those I don't fillet, don't want to waste a morsel! I learned very young to eat them with bones and taught my kids to do it too.

Night again.

No time to reply--off to work but I did want to congratulate you on teaching your kids young to eat "real" fish Cind! That is how we were taught as kids and I taught mine that way too--never forget the first time DH and I had fresh fish...he has NO IDEA how to eat it...was just going to pick it up and bit into it!
OK--off to work...nice to see you Carol!

good morning,

I am the same way with gills,, only we have a group home here and we can't be serving fish with bones in them to the old guy .. Not that I wouldn't mind watching him choke once in awhile, LOL

It is looking like a nice day coming up.. I wouldn't mind doing a little fishing this afternoon,

but I still haven't put the bucket back onto Ollie..
and I still have that last stump to jerk out ..

these nice days are not going to last forever, though..

chilly morning here today, hoping that it warms up this afternoon. DS(9) has a soccer game today....I will be dressing in layers for sure!

Have some new arrivals this morning- 3 kits from our Cali doe- Java. Waiting to see if the other 2 does have litters. DD and DS(9) will be raising them for 4-H.

Cleaned out all the pens in the shop this morning as well, now just have to go back out and finish cleaning up.....

picked all our pumpkins and winter squash, ended up with a good amount of each.

have a good one!

Not gonna go to Beaver Dam. As much as I would love to go...I am going to a tack sale early-ish in the am.
I do need some laying hens though I adore Kristi's retirees and my widdle ones, we have one broody and none laying...
I am going to winterize the coop as well. Putting plastic up over the BIG chicken wire "window" except an upper corner of if, and the door which is
chicken wire. And put up plastic on the north wall on the outside, our house mate had put bits of plastic up on the inside but you can see daylight through them and more. And then use up some of my bad hay and insulate that puppy. I can't put any hay on the west side as that is near where the horse gate is and knowing them they would try to eat it.

Hey Hens and Roo's if you have some non showable chickens you want to sell, let me know.

Off to do laundry.
Jim.. I am gonna have to go fishing with you... I remember when I fished in Alaska while in the navy.. that was fun

Well, it was a bad night for 2 of the Toms to not want to go in the coop. Something got the young Tom. It happen while it was still dark maybe about 5am. He was roosting about 4ft up. Owl? Fox?

My pair of black Turkeys tried roosting on the top of the rabbit pen last night. They are young yet, and I had visions of an owl grabbing them. It was a pain in the butt, but I'm glad I grabbed them and put them away.
