Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Put up 12 pints of pickled beets and 2 quarts of picked eggs.....tried something different w/the eggs....put onion and jalapeno peppers in.

I called my youngest sister about the slippery jims recipe..
I guess she didn't pay any more attention to what Mom was doing than I did .
I thought it was watermelon rind that Mom used.. Sister said no..but remember, she didn't pay any attention ..

I looked up some recipes and found that cukes and watermelon rind are used..

we ae done with our beans,, they are ready to be picked again,, nobody is showing up for them..
what a shame to not use them,,

Where the heck are you, I'll show up for beans, just tell me where and how much.

Four of the boyz went off to freezer camp today. I was determined to get some of their beautiful feathers so I asked the "camp counselors" in the back when I brought the crate around if they could just wring the neck of one so I could pluck it. They did two of them for me and hung them up so I could easily pluck them. Happy camper.

I was going to have them vacuum wrapped but I didn't want to spend another 2 hours driving up and back to get them on another day. It was a beautiful day for a drive to Wittenberg but I'd like to be able to get them packed for camp a lot closer to home.

The neighbors are probably pretty happy to have the AM volume lowered a bit!

Yesterday was a day of rest from the garden and this afternoon I found several chicken zucchini. You know, the giant kind that you chop up for chicken food. Just a few beans but they should be busting out very, very soon. I think the tomatoes are waiting to ripen en masse, too.

I was thinking of spicing up some pickles or slippery jims. I like the hot and zesty slices we buy at the store,, I think they are Vlasic ..

what would I have to add to get that zing ?

.
Friday we are going to put about a dozen pullets out of their misery..

You might find it in the list of ingredients on the Vlasic jar.

Hi all sorry to post this again but im still looking for eggs. Im in so. central WI and I'm looking for hatching eggs nearby that are free or very inexpensive. They don't have to be purbred although I would love some pure bred eggs otherwise any healthy mixes would be appreciated too. Particularly if the parents are known or somewhat known and friendly and of course the birds are healthy to your knowledge. The reason I ask is I have set two black oegb from a friend's birds but I am worried about the low number of eggs particularly if only one should hatch.
I am interested in many breeds if you have eggs and are willing perhaps even to ship eggs provided we pay for the shipping.

Bantams I'm interested include but aren't limited to: silkies and oegb(especially self blue), American game bantam, sebright, cochins as well as maybe some porcelain d'uccle eggs

Large fowl include but aren't limited to: EE/Ameracaunas/Arucaunas, Crested Cream Legbars, orpingtons, cochins, wyandottes, speckled sussex, australorps, Ayam cemani, basically any dual purpose large fowl especially these and any that are sexable at hatch.
Please PM and let me know what you have and where you're located as well as any cost you would want me to pay. Even if you don't have these specific breeds but are close and willing to give me some please message me and let me know what you have thank you all. Or as I guess messages are limited quote me in this thread with the same info. Thanks.

Quote: good idea,,

It took me almost an hour to get online today,, something to do with the network problems.

anyhoo,, here I am now, and I don't have much to say..

going to go mow my lawn job.. 2 hours per week, every week..

my lawn mower part still hasn't come in..

I got the area where I dug out all those birch stumps dragged and graded.. but I still have to go through with the rototiller to make it lawn worthy ..

all this rain we had really helped to settle the dirt,, but it was too wet yesterday to do any tilling.

maybe this afternoon , after I get done mowing it will be dry enough.. there are a lot of sod clumps to bust apart .. and a few pine roots to chop off..
