my part came for the lawn mower today,, a 70" long push pull cable.. $74.63 .. I could hire someone to mow my lawn at these prices..
I have it almost all installed.. will finish tomorrow.. keeping fingers crossed that it works after I am done.....

With running after my mower part and all, I did not get any rotoilling done..

had BLT with the T's coming fresh from the garden,, can't beat fresh vine ripened tomatoes..

...........jiminwisc.........

DH rewired the lower level of the barn, he spent all weekend doing it. He tried it out and it was not right. Bummer. Now he has to check all the runs and find where the problems are.

Ohhh so love the tomatoes... I have them with sugar and hubby is a salt and guy...N'o bacon in the freezer but I could eat BLT's 3 times a day 7 days a week when it is vine ripened tomatoes!!!.... Pulling up the rest of the beans, have plenty frozen, for the two of us, also pulled the carrots and frozen them... Looked it up and I guess I have nematodes.. cause half of the carrots have extra legs, some need to be banned from vision, maybe my mind wanders the wrong way

Sorry all but a carrot with 3 legs... well what can I say.
Have a good night all!

Hello everyone...

I feel terrible. Last night when I closed the stall door for my flock (they are in a box stall) one of my Wyandottes got her toe stuck in between the door and wall and floor (right in the corner by the hinge). The skin seems scraped a bit but the toe doesn't appear broken, and wasn't bleeding when I checked it.

Like I said, I feel terrible as I close the door slowly, and have no idea how it happened...

Anything I can do for care? I didn't do anything last night as it wasn't bleeding but if I can catch her this morning, I plan to wipe it with peroxide.

Thanks everyone.

ONE DOSE OF PEROXIDE WON'T HURT ,, BUT CONTINUED USE PREVENTS HEALING..
ALL YOU CAN DO IS WATCH FOR INFECTION,, BUT CHICKENS HAVE REMARKABLE SELF HEALING GENES ..

i HAVE MY LAWN MOWER GOING AGAIN,, ALL i HAVE TO DO IS SHARPEN THE BLADES, AS LONG AS i HAVE THE DECK OFF, AND THEN RE-INSTALL THE DECK ON THE MOWER..

Nice Afternoon here...dustergirl, if one has chickens they should have a can of Blu-Kote spray for all the things that arise....it's a antiseptic wound dressing.....worth every penny having it on hand.

Busy here too...dug two 5gal pails of red potatoes and picked the same amount of cukes.....the maters are going good along with everything...I always wait to dig carrots....they will become so much sweeter if one waits. The green peppers are crazy heavy with amounts and size.

The cockerels are growing fast now....won't be long here till they get the cull nod!

later...bigz

Thanks Jim and bigz for your help. Of course I spent my morning catching Wyandottes; I have 5 and found my injured one upon catching the fifth! Things are never easy.

Jim, thanks for the reminder about the peroxide. I am a one-and-done with peroxide kind of person but the reasoning had slipped my mind. My pullet was also trying to eat the cotton ball with the peroxide on it while I was trying to wipe her toe.

This was a feat with 3-lb chickens. I can't wait to see what it's like fighting with a full-grown 5 to 7 lb injured chicken someday.

Thanks again for your help. I stopped on the way home tonight at Fleet Farm and got some Blu-Kote. :)

I am still setting up here. Blu-Kote is on the shopping list. I plan on putting a Care Box outside the coop door. Those things that need to be kept on hand for emergencies. Aside from Blue-Kote, what else do you recommend to be kept on hand?
