Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hi All!

Stacy.... you new "home" is looking good!

I don't know where my son got the corn, I guess someone from work told him about it.

Going to try to make it to the farmer's market, hope it doesn't rain. I want another one of those good melons!

Night All!

Great job Stacy!

This weekend I will start sending some of the broilers to freezer camp.
They were a straight run so I will wait on the pullets. I would take pics of the plucker Jim, but Cuties would have to tell me how she got her pictures to post on this site.

Regardless how busy we seem to be...its hard to get ahead with the idiots that regulate our lives.
Just notified our health care will be canceled....does not meet ACA (Obama care ). With premiums & deductibles paid out this year already...we will be over $20,000. This has been a complete disaster to us.

And Stacy...state regulations currently require grey water to go to your septic system only.
Foundation drains & water treatment units can be ground discharged.

It Is incredible the tidal wave of regulations we have to deal with today.

I too got hit by the ACA. They took out $1000 extra from my checking account without notifying me. I did get $600 of it back two months later. If you want something screwed up put the government in charge of it.

We did the same this summer. Were getting few eggs, we found the nest,, had 10 eggs, we took them into the house and put them in water to see if they floated. They all did, so we ate them. It is said if they do not float, they are bad. Well, we are still here and no one got sick from them, so I guess that works. Maybe it was the other way around, anyway......

Uh, yeah. It was the other way around. If they float, the eggs are old. Fresh eggs have hardly any air in them. As they age, the air sac gets larger.

Thanks for that celticchic, I couldn't remember. But, now that I think about it, that is the reason we figured they were good, because they didn't float.

Hey all hoping you can help me again. Not an emergency but I am a bit worried about one of our girls. She sat in a nest box today for probably a good hour, but no egg. I'm not sure if she's ever laid as today is the first time I have ever caught any of our girls laying/trying to lay. And I saw four today including one I am sure is a first egg and one I believe is a second egg. Should I be worried about her? She's an Isa Brown if that helps and I think she's 20 weeks now.

Nice afternoon here again.... nope no problem cd....some of the hens enjoy time in the nest box. They can be silly birds at times.

Finished raking grass today.....what a pain grass is.
