instead of dry plucking them, why not just go ahead and skin them ? you don't need the skin on anyway to cook them ..How hard is it to dry pluck a young rooster? I only have 2 that I am going to butcher and I am feeling too lazy to heat a big pot of water for only 2 birds. If it is going to be to difficult, then I will have to just suck it up and pull out the big pot and heat all that water...
I am waiting now for the molt to end, too many pin feathers right now but their tail feathers are just starting to come in so not too long I think.
Slit them length ways from tail to neck down the back.. then start peeling..
Go on U Tube for more ideas on how to skin a chicken..
OR, bring them here when we are butchering, probably next week..
I heat up the water on the turkey deep fryer .. I have never deep fried a turkey.
It was nice working in the shop today.. I got the housing built for the sprocket and chain,, next I will mount the bearing blocks and center the shafts ..
So far i have not used even one nail in this project.. all glue and dowels ..
I will be taking more pictures as I go along.. although I still cannot send any, yet..
