Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Stac, again that looks wonderful!

We got our first egg today! It was super exciting and I found it by chance- not in a nesting box, of course! It was in our box of straw in the barn. Don't know who it was but I'm guessing one of the Wyandottes based on how cackly they have been.

@jvls1942 Ok, Jim, you win. I will haul out the turkey fryer and heat some water for the plucking. Looks like 3 sagitta roos will be getting a 140 degree bath in a couple of days.
Packers are ahead at half time..

you don't need to heat up a whole pot full.. just deep enough to submerge the chicken..

I bowled today , so I didn't get to work on the plucker..
Annie wants to butcher tomorrow,, I told her no way,, no butchering until I have this plucker done.

she came down with the cold that I had for the past 3 days, so I don't think she will be up to butchering anyway ..

I am over my cold.. it was a miserable one.. I seldom catch colds..

Our chicks are 5 weeks today, can't believe how fast they are growing. Have had them out in the grass under their new coop during the day the last 3 days (back in the garage brooder at night). Here is a quick video of them:

Hello All,

I have a Black Australorp Rooster that I need to get rid of ASAP. Our Magnificent 5 need to become the Fantastic Four. We confirmed that our big hen is indeed a Rooster. I cannot have a Rooster in the city or I will get a ticket. He hatched on July 1. Anyone in the Tomahawk area that wants him can have him, first come first served. Send me a message. Would love to send him to freezer camp but he is a bit too small yet.

Thanks,

Tim

good evening,

not getting notifications when you all are posting,,

I like the first kiling frost,, makes it easy to find all the squash..

Bro Dave came out and sat in his stand this afternoon,, saw 3 deer, but he was walking out at the time,, they were in the middle of the field and didn't even run away ..

I got the feather plate cut out.. didn't go so well.. went through two jig saws and finally finished cutting the circle with my 4 inch grinder and 2 whole cutting discs .. anyhow, I got all of the finger holes plotted out.. tomorrow I will drill the 53 holes ..

meanwhile the chickens are getting fatter..
a couple of them came and checked out what I was doing.. I told them I was building a carnival ride just for them,,

You can tell it is getting ready to turn cold.. we are trapping mice like crazy in the house already.
