I got both cedar planters finished.
have compost in the tractor bucket.
all set to go set them up after I finish lunch/breakfast.
by tonight I should have all the onoins and beets planted.

the potatoes came up,,,,,finally....

good morning,

I got a cool start on building a couple of planter boxes which turned out to be not so cool after about an hour.
luckily I ran out of dick screws so I was "forced" to take a break..
I got one 2ft x 2ft planter together.
that will be either for beets or onions.
I will build another just like it after I go get some screws..
I just got a call on the intercom. Annie found a "whole bunch" of 2 1/2" screws for me.
no trip need to F&F now

later on I have to go get a bag of peat moss, though.

If you need a bear hunter chicki, I'm lookin for a closer place to hunt. I would share the meat or sausage if their was success.

Yep Jim, the nickel dime your way through the work projects is the only way to go. My gardens are lookin good a nickel at a time.

waited all winter for warm days, and now it is too hot to work.

I did fill the two boxes with compost.
my onion sets don't look too good. I am going to try to get some better ones.
going to wait for it to get shady before I go out to plant the beet seeds.

I reworked the place where I dug the stump out. still not satisfied with the smoothness of it..

Sorry Z, if it were my call I would say more the merrier to thin out the big fuzzies but DH doesn't want anyone hunting the property this year because the grandson got his first bear permit so the son and probably all the uncles will be here helping him and I think they have someone else with a permit as well. Sounds like it's going to be quite a "thing" . Think I am going to need to drag out all of my official camp cook gear.
Where were all these bear hunters last year when we had the big male bear sitting on our picnic table and daring us to try to make it move????

The bear are so thick in this area it seems like everyone trains their hounds on the state/county land around us.

Well good as young hunters and mentors can be...best wishes for a good hunters first hunt...it kinda remains in your thoughts for a long while. It should be with family...kudos to all of you.

Bigz, my youngest girls lollygag at dusk before going into the coop. I think they get bullied off the roosts so they just wait til the old biddies are all hunkered down for the night & are too comfy to chase them off any more? As they get older, they go in earlier & earlier.

Welcome Belinda! Hope you like it here. The chick in the front might be a rooster, but I am not very knowledgeable on that breed. Good luck.

Nice day here today! Thanks Robin for the mention of H&R, as well as Jim giving them a notice. Maybe some day they will attend another bash...old friends and faces always welcome.
I was also gonna mention about your pigs cory....I always take the long ones for more chops. Hate to sell a extra chop or more.
