Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Those sound tasty for sure!
3 days so far....I haven't heard anything from Sunnyside yet....maybe next week? Prolly to busy to check their mail. :rant

Sorry, we ate the whole dozen all by ourselves - just the two of us! lol
We haven't had them in too long of a time.

Too dang cold to do much outside, birds are fed and have water. Good enough for now. Not looking forward to the snow tonight and commute in the morning. Nice to have some sun this weekend though.

Look what I got today! Finally.

Good for you bbp! I don't see any downsizing the flock in your future....
Mark from Sunnyside sent me a email. They won't be selling Saggita chicks this year....
Prolly 3" of the white stuff here so far....hope that's all we are blessed with too!

I wonder why Sunnyside won't be selling Sagitta ? Not enough demand for them, I suppose.

we have about 3" of new white snow. I would rather have this than the cold we were having.,

It is really pretty when it sticks in the trees like this.

BBP< what brand of incubator is that?

I am thinking of selling all of my incubating equipment..
I have the Sportsmans tweaked to each hatch around 500 eggs if you wish to.

pass the word.

I have no plans for today, or this week, for that matter.

I took the blades out of the 4" jointer and resharpened them with my new diamond honing boards. they work super for quicker sharpening.

I also did the extra set of 6" blades.

Dang, I was planning on getting another dozen Sagitta this year too.
I wonder if the other hybrid they have is worth getting? I think it is a Ranger or something like that.
I have 6 of the browns that they list as dual purpose - about 4 months old right now. I had browns, blacks and Sagittas in my first order. The browns & blacks do not get as big as the Sagittas did, they all lay fairly well.

Maybe it's time to start with heritage breeds.

Yep, I really like my Buckeyes, however I would like to add some fresh genes to my line....maybe bbp can help me out with 20 or so straight run chicks? Sunnyside offers the reds,.... that might be a option instead of the Bucks.

to some hatcheries, dual purpose just means that you use the hens for eggs and the roosters for meat.

elsewhere on byc they talk about a red type of chicken.
I am guessing it is a sagitta with a different name.
I have been checking in on some forums, but they are very mum about any replies..

I cannot tell the taste of one chicken to the next. they all taste like chicken to me.
