Well, we incubated twelve eggs, six hatched and we ended up with only two hens! Looks like we get to try again and hope for three more hens. We aren’t allowed to keep roosters sooo...

I have two roosters in need of a new home very quickly. They are both 12 weeks old.

The black and brown one is full Americuana hatched from a blue egg. He’s a very sweet boy and we would keep if I’d we were allowed to have a rooster. I’m sure he’s going to be beautiful when full grown.

The white and cream one is from an Americuana rooster and a Novagen hen hatched from a darker brown egg. He is also a nice boy and good at watching the hens.

We are located in Plymouth, Wisconsin.

Yep, the annual bash was a great one. I can't thank everyone enough that attended and made the whole event a great one. Good to see Annie again, as well as all the folks that attend every year...this is a great group of folks. I won the salsa tasting contest hands down....hoping for some competition next year....folks just couldn't stop raving how good it is!
Thanks for sharing the pics bl4...that's a really good one of Jim and Annie!
Thanks to Robin and Terri for bringing me hatching eggs...it sure is a pretty bunch of eggs!
Hope others can join in next year....it was a blast from start to finish.

Howdy, neighbor! We can't have Roosters, either :(

Where do you get hatching eggs? I was gifted a secondhand incubator and now I want to try it out! I was looking for some local eggs to start with :jumpy

I got eggs from a friend. She’s only about 1/2 a mile away but outside the city boarder so no regulations on her chickens.

There are lots of backyard farmers around that sell eggs. I bet that that if you ask for same day eggs (or very new and still unrefrigerated) you can incubate them!

Thanks! I'll be asking around :jumpy I figured I'd better learn how to incubate before buying shipped eggs from all the gorgeous breeds I want... We can't have Roosters but we can have 25 hens, and so far only have 5 pullets (and our coop to house 25 is almost livable!)
