@jvls1942 I usually go to door county and pick cherries - I live in the Green Bay area so it is a short drive to orchard country. this year my sister picked up a 27 lb tub of cherries for me. That is a good way to go also, and pretty reasonable. I got the pitted, unsweetened tub.
I planted a cherry tree this spring but it never even grew a leaf, I guess I will planting a free replacement cherry tree next year... and 2 peach trees that didn't grow also.
I would eventually like to have 3 cherry trees, 3 peach trees, and 3 pear trees in our orchard - to go with the 5 apple trees (3 that I planted so far). The peach will be the hardest to keep alive. They are typically a zone 5 tree - I am in zone 4.
That round barn sounds like a nice location for events. My friends son got married in a "event" barn over in West-Central WI and there weren't any campgrounds, motels, hotels or any other place to stay within 25 miles. She ended up staying in a crummy motel with another couple. But the setting was beautiful...
That was the place with the porta-potties and gravel roads. No parking area at the barn also, they had to walk up a steep gravel hill after finding a spot to park along the road. She was hot and tired before even getting to the reception.
