Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hi All,
yesterday Frankie went missing. That is her in the avatar picture.
She is pretty old and slowing down a lot.
We figure she went away to die.
I checked all her favorite resting places.
except one. I cannot see under the non running truck where she likes to lie.

@jvls1942 Sorry to hear about Frankie. Hopefully she shows up for you. Old dogs are hard on us.
My Pistol Pete is 12 years old. That's him in my avatar. He is starting to show his age - sleeping a lot, hard time standing up, limping... But, he gets to bark at the kittens every day, and run back and forth along the fence acting like an idiot.

Frankie was 8 or 9 years old. that is old for a large breed dog.
lately, like in the past few weeks, she seldom met our car in the driveway when we came home. and she often didn't come out from under the truck to harass the UPS drivers or visitors.
she would just bark from under the truck.
We lost our first female , Dora, almost the same way. She was due to have pups at any moment, Annie let her out to pee. We never saw her again. about two months later a guy called and asked if we had a Dora ? He found her in the river about two miles downstream from us..

Jim, glad to hear Frankie is back.... I remember what happened with Dora.... so sad.

Speaking of LGD, anyone need one? One of our members fosters for a dog rescue group and they have one available. JR’s Pups and Stuff is the name of the rescue.

Nobody wants some nice roosters? I hate to butcher the BCM’s..... they are beautiful..... well except the idiot who crows every 30 seconds.....he is lunch for sure!

Gretchen; the chocolate cuckoo Orpington... and my youngest DS.

I agree that the hardest part of the whole chicken process is dealing with the nice roosters. I'm still hanging on with a Lav orp roo that is people friendly and a shame to have to put down...but...they are so hard on the pullets that should not have to deal with the abuse that they have to deal with when the roo's numbers get out of hand. One generation of all the same age is easy...add old girls to the mix in the flock and it just can't be tolerated here by me.

Nice Pack win....nobody expected them to win ...except us loyal fans! Bring on the Queens!

Yeah, I know. Just a shame to put down nice birds; the jerks are a lot easier.....

So since ALL my blue egg ‘layers’ are boys....... I picked up 6 Crested Cream Legbars this morning..... they are a month younger than my birds so a little bit smaller, I have had them in the screen tent all day so the big birds could check them out. Going to tuck them into the coop tonight when it gets dark.

aww common, BL4, I know you are a good chicken lady, but your blue egg layers are
boys ? :lau

Today I got the second window well ready for concrete. I will pour it the next time I have someone to help me. I might even try it alone. just need about one hour without rain..
I have no trouble processing pretty roosters.. the friendliest ones taste the best..:drool:pop
