The White one is Tylor's chick ~ feathers starting on feet ~ definitely not a Buff Orphington. Happy polish crested is a White Polish, there are 2 Austrolorpes and an Easter Egger. Well, 3 chicks correct out of 5
Any idea what the White chick is? I am fit to be tied with the Polish White *LOL* Definately not a dumb bird. This is the one who kept figuring how to get out of the cage when it was little (going thru the sides between the bars). My daughter named her Sargent Escape (pronounced ES-COP-EE). I was showing one of the kids (now 33) that use to come to my other house the chicks. I pulled the white one out thru the top and then put her back in. SGT. Escape jumped out of the top of the cage and I had to catch her in the bedroom. Dan grabbed the baby crib rails and put them on top of the cage. She is going to keep me busy.
no chickens to keep me busy, but the roof build is doing that. we are almost finished with it. then I am going to start on the green house.
I think I need it. I forgot to bring in the tomato and pepper plants on Sunday night and they all froze Monday morning.
they were hardened off pretty good, but not 26F good..

we had a couple of light brahma roosters once.
Never had any hens, though.
In case anybody cares, this is an update picture of how far we got with the roof before it started raining today.
Thanks, I looked at a bunch of images of light brahma chicks and adults. As a chick, it does look correct and as an adult it is a good possibility. She is definitely beautiful.
Looks like you are getting along fine with the new roof, Jim.
thanks Raeja, I am pleased with it so far.
I went to Fleet/Farm and bought tomato and pepper plants. they just got a new shipment in and they are great looking plants.
also bought oregano, lemon grass, thyme and basil.
I never raised herbs before.
will have to search youtube for info..

Wyo, the edge of the roof is about 40" out from the building.
the width of the green house will be 12 feet.
and the depth will be about 33 inches.
height about 7 feet.
I will use corrugated plexi all across the front.
they will be removable and the floor will hinge up for winter storage.
the main purpose of the roof is to deflect the snow that falls off of the roof of the garage.
Otherwise it falls right in front of the doors and slides under the OH door and freezes..
the green house is just an afterthought.

Hi all - introducing myself here. We are located near Spooner, WI, have an apple/fruit orchard, very large gardens and honey bees. I'm also a hobby potter and it was last year that we decided to start selling all of our 'goodies' on our property - it was a LOT of hard work but so rewarding. This is my first time raising chickens - been thinking and researching for a long, long time. In early Feb, I purchased a pre-fab coop from Roost & Root (Austin, TX) and then purchased chicks from Meyer: Buff, Lavendar, Splash Orpingtons, Barred Rock, EE, OE, Austra White, Cream Legbar, Jersey Giant, RIR, Light Brahma, Barnevelder. I ordered 11 thinking that not all would make it, but guess what? They all did, including the free chick they tossed in. Chicks are 7 weeks old and I'm hoping our fickle weather here in WI will allow me to get them outside. Initially I was concerned the coop wouldn't be big enough. Read a lot that they roost close together so not so worried anymore - can remove egg box for more roost area if needed. Just last week, we added a large 10x9 run off the back of it so that combined with space underneath the coop should be enough if they have to be stuck in there for a few days - plan is to free range most of the time, although I'm a bit nervous as we discovered there is a fox on the property (and where there's one, there's more) so plan for now is to only free range if we are outside nearby. Have learned a lot on the forum and looking forward to the chicken journey.
