Hi,
I have a spreadsheet I recently acquired from BYC. It is .xls MS excel, but can be converted to other formats.
It is a nice spreadsheet with direct and most indirect cost. I see it does not have fuel cost for getting feed for me would me indirect cost. Just fill in the blanks.
Guess does not have correct extension to post, but if you interested I can email.
As I said if interested I can convert to other formats with excel I believe.

Hi all, Wyo, be prepared to end up paying and butchering all by yourselves. just saying
Annie cannot put any weight on her knee for 3 months. If it doesn't heal by then, they want to put in a new knee.
She didn't have to go to this extreme to get out of gardening this summer.
I will plant the garden. If I can't keep up with it, it will just have to go to weeds.

We are prepared for the friends to back out, but I really think this group is serious enough to show up. But, that is why we only ordered 20 chicks to start with. One of the guys thinks he wants 20 for himself for the freezer but I explained that I could only do a small amount since this is the first time using the tractor for chickens.

Finally started my tomato plants, lol. Late as usual. Searched for 2 days to find the seeds that I knew I had. Gave up and was going to head to the store to buy new seeds and found the old ones. At least I found them before I bought more, lol

Going to be nice day today. We got 5 new silkies farm fleet order came in. Looked nice healthy doing good so far.
Looking at building a plucker of some kind. Thinking of it anyway.
Might do some meat birds this year, will still have some of my stock from hatching to butcher.
First 2 hatches sold most of my chicks, I was surprised actually. 2 dollars each enough to buy some feed.
Going to get get some llama shit from neighbor today for wife's garden. DIg out my homemade pig raising stuff for friend. He wants to raise pigs this year. 5 dollar corn and 14 dollar beans I am going to stay away from it this year.

good day, I have been pretty busy and no time to play on the computer.
I have built 5 whiz bang pluckers and sold four of them.. I have one left. I also have a drum type plucker. I doubt that we will be raising chickens any more. I should just sell the pluckers. I sold the whiz bangs for $1200,oo/each. The one I have now is chain driven . Lots of improvements of the original whiz bang plans..
I am thinking that my rhubarb and garlic might be coming up. I should go down there and take a look.

what do you use in parts or should I ask since you sell them?

My rhubarb is out of the ground about 2". Hopefully, I will have a good rhubarb season this year. Last year the roofers mashed it down pretty good.

Edit: it was 2 years ago that the roofers trampled the rhubard. Last year it did not grow very well, so I left it to give it time to to recoup.

TOR, I only made them to use for myself. but when people wanted them, I sold them and made another one.
I began with the plans from Erick Kimbal.
he called it the Whiz Bang. I improved upon the original plans a lot. . the original plans called for a 16" V pulley. I did my first one like that and then developed my own chain driven system.
I think I might have pictures of the construction. It is not the most inexpensive thing to build, but it will last a life time. There are some less costly pluckers on Amazon, but they are not up to par with mine. The thing I question about them is what the cost or availability of the motor if it poops out.
You can buy the kit from Kimbal but I found that I can put together the parts for a lot less.
the most expensive part is the motor,
I use a 1HP Marathon. and the rubber fingers. they cost about $120.oo.
I build my frame from select oak.
Tenon joints, No nails or screws.
You have to be somewhat mechanically inclined to build one like mine. If you want to undertake the project, I will be glad to help wherever I can.

I used to have whiz bang instructions I bought. I lent them out and do not think I ever got them back or have misplaced them, but anyway,
Sounds like you build quite a plucker, oak, joints and all. Yes I am mechanically inclined as I do my own repairs and make things as needed.
I am thinking of a stand up model or a tub plucker. I get further ahead of projects I will prolly ask some questions if I decide to build something.
1 HP motor and fingers for 120.00 is a good price. I am guessing a 4 pole motor 1725 rpm, less speed to reduce. Guessing a electric motor without capacitor start. Electric motor commonly used as a blower motor.

Heck of a change in the nice weather we were enjoying here....back to normal Springtime weather I guess?
Good to read everyone is busy with peeps already.....I'll set eggs around May first like always, that works well for us.
Collecting 8 eggs daily now and figure more friends will be enjoying my spoiled hens eggs.
