I also have to wait until one of my girls goes broody again. Then it's game on! My girl friends just bought their first house in the country and I told them their house warming gifts are test chicks and two goats that were surrendared last summer. They know the people that had to give them up and really want them. Less mouths to feed for us. Can't wait till I can have babies! Have a good weekend everyone! Enjoy the weather!

Good aft all! Made it till noon no work tomorrow. Surprise! My folks stopped in, it's dad's B'day. 76 today and he was sporting a goatee. It's the first time in my life that he's ever had facial hair. Looks dashing on him. We woke L up after she worked 11-7 last night and she sleeply said hey he looks like you. I laughed and said actually I look like him. She said oh ya! I've had a full beard my whole life other than in grade school and the army. OK high school too, except for darkening in my mustach hair with mom's eyebrow pencil. Keenes coop sounds like your in the city. Seems like everyone on here wishes they had bigger coops and more buildings. We all want more chickens. I want you to think about that for moment. You may be getting into yourself into a never ending ordeal. I'm going to warn you now chickens are like crack. Again take a moment to think. You just can't get enough! It seems that you've already made your decision so all I can say is. Enjoy the rest of your life! Come join us chickenheads with our illness and smile smile smile! And laugh! But seriously there's a rule of thumb about coop size vs # of birds can't think of it right now but if you've got the room and the money go a third again as big as recommended in the coop design thread. You'll need space to be able to sit and talk, it's good for them and for you. fordmommy; The camera is on the table. I haven't taken any pics since Peaches first day. Shame on me! I'll get some to send to your youngest. I feel bad that he misses him. He's a very good boy! And I love him so. I hope you tell him he's in very good company. He keeps a constant eye on his girls. The girls come up by the house and into the wood shed and he walks back and forth checking on both areas where they are. Have to go give them some lettuce treats add some straw do a little cleaning and lots of attention. We need it. I've missed them!

Had the CNA written exam and the skills test today; I was so worked up about it I was awake at 5:30 AM and the test did not start until 8!!!!! THANKFULLY we had 100% pass rate! All of us were so worried about one of our group since English is her secong language (she is Phillipino), but she did it!!!!

To celebrate we all went to lunch, and then fordmommy showed up with her eggs!!! That got everyone talking about chickens!

After all of the excitement I had to get to work and try to get as much done as possible..... I am supposed to work 8 hours on the weekend but I would still be there if I tried to do that and I was too excited to get all the eggs going in the incubator.......

So I was home by 9:45, and by 10:30 all the eggs except the quail are cooking away!

Congratulations bl4!!!!! You did it! You deserve an atta girl! Didn't you say you had aspirations of becoming an RN? Good morning Kool Aid Queen and WELCOME! That's why we're all here. To learn and enjoy the comaraderie. They need to put a spell check on here. Up at 4:30 not surprised crawled in at 8 and was out within seconds. Must have been tired. Almost 30* out there this morning. It's been feeling like spring is coming but haven't smelled it yet. I like that smell. I got new straw in the nest boxes and pine shavings on top on their roosting area. Also threw some new straw on the floor to thicken it up after the complete cleanout the other weekend. They always like that because of the straw grain. Learned that Peaches likes to talk to himself when he's eating lettuce. It was funny. Maybe he was grumbling under his breath that there wasn't enough.

Glad you have joined us " cheese, cheddar, chickenheads" Kool Aid Queen! What part of the state do you call home? Any chance you'll you'll be able to make the "First Annual Bigzio Bash"? It goes by many names as do our pets and supervisors at work. It's going to be really cool. A bunch of weird people standing around talking about chickens. I know I'll fit in at least in the weird catagory. Maybabies Rock! Bet your G'ma does too! All the girls, Peaches, me, and Bob the cat. My G'friend Laura and her cat Taz Devil are vastly outnumbered. He He He He!
