Early Evening to Ya....hope everyone had a great week end. I just fired up the grill for some venzun back straps and baked potatoes.

The sun never showed here today, so it didn't get as nice as i thought it would. Still nice enough though...

Good early evening! I took everyone's advice and combined lots of garlic, pepper, onions and tomatoes and made chili for supper. I added chicken broth too!

So that has to make be better. I will have some more tea too...a nice shot of brandy in it last night helped me sleep so I think I will repeat that tonight too! It seems like it might be breaking up a bit...one can only hope.
Today I divided my pasture so the back half can grow up a bit. The whole thing really needs a rest but I have too many animals to take them off totally. I couldnt believe how dry it is out there! We really did need that rain that didnt show up on Friday into Saturday! A friend came over this morning to borrow one of my baby goats to take to a petting zoo at the HOme Show. I guess she only stood in the corner terrified the whole time! You really have to take bottle babies to that sort of thing! I filled up the tub for the ducks this morning...OMG that was a riot! They had the best time playing in the water! I love to see them the first time I fill up the bath. They never seem to have as much fun later when they are used to it.
Now done with chili---it was so good! I could even taste it! Well, I am off to bed now with my cup of tea! Terri O

Good Evening All!

I'm so psyched. I've used entirely recycled products for my coop/run, and the entire project has now cost me a whopping $125. I bought a used kennel from a nice older guy (craigslist) and its 14 X 8 and 6' high, and Mom and I dismantled it this afternoon and trailered it home. We also found an amazing pile of used plywood, 2 X 4s, 2 X 6s, OSB board, pallets, a nice square of shingles, a TON of fencing (really nice chickenwire that seems like a heavier gauge than standard), cinder blocks, tons of 2" dowels (for roosts). I don't think I'll need much more, outside of a door and a couple of windows. Suhweet

I wanted to keep this project as green and as cost effective as I could, and so far so good. We also found some great screened bins for composting and plenty of fencing for the new garden we're planting this spring...

So now I'm pooped and sitting with Mom watching Undercover Boss. Cool show, we are really getting into this. Between Amazing Race and UB, we've got a little Sunday night ritual. We also had steak and pork chops on the grill with grilled potatoes, onions, and carrots. It turned out terrific. I can feel the landing gear coming out, I'll be crashing early tonight. Hi there! I'm new to this board and too the world of chickens and thought I"d poke my head in here.

We moved to central Wi about 9 months ago from Milwaukee. Finally starting to love it here. We have 5 children, 4 girls, 12,6,8 and 3 and one little boy who is 6 months old. We have 25 baby chicks on their way in May and I"m a so excited but also a bit nervous
