Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good afternoon Cheeseheads! I'm WIPED out today. Was up all night with a child who wasn't feeling well. slept about 2 hours and need a nap lol
We have babies due to arrive tomorrow! This is our first chick raising experience so we are excited. I'm a bit nervous I'll kill them...lol
We are also adopting 2 silkie chickens. Can't wait.
Our ducklings are growing SO BIG! I think we have 3 girls.

Off to gymnastics tonight!

Good Windy Afternoon to All....Wow, the rain yesterday really soaked my newly tilled gardens. Prolly gonna have to till them again before planting. I now have 3400 sq ft of garden, sinse I made 2 larger. Here is a pic of the three gardens.

Bigz it sure looks like you will have plenty of garden food to eat once you start harvesting! Way to go--I just LOVE fresh produce! Took my tiller to the neighbors' today to help her out with a new plot. Darn thing didnt run worth a darn getting it on the truck and then wouldnt run at all once I got it down to her place. DH said "it needs a tune-up...well that was last fall after I put the garden to bed! He tiller this past weekend and said it again...yeah well now it is at the neighbors' and he can just tune it up there and till the garden for her this weekend while I am enjoying my camping trip with my horse!!! SO THERE!

Amyable--great job on the coop! Looks like your chickies will be happy in there. Got my little ones out yesterday but they are afraid to go outside--too much wind! Speaking of wind--I just got back from school today (picking up chicks from the AG class) brought the dog in and sat down at the computer. THen I heard this really loud noise and crashing and I thought a bunch of stuff blew off my porch. So about 15 minutes later I hear a beep and think there are geese in the road. I go to the door and my huge cedar tree is down across my sidewalk!!! (right where the dog had been laying no less!) It was the UPS man beeping to give me a package--no birds in the road. I had to climb up a ladder to make sure that there wasnt a nest in the trunk of the tree...we saw some birds and squirrels going in the hole over the weekend. Nothing--thank Goodness! SO now there is another thing to be done here!

DrH you sound like a great person! SO nice of you to think of BBCB and the tickets...but really nice of you to bail your son out (again) even if he did have to listen to you scold him. NOW--if it only would sink in right?!

Gotta make supper--easy one tonight grilled cheese and tomato soup...Terri O

TO I'm not that great. Just don't want my daughter to have to support his butt which I think is going to happen. They've been married for 10 years and the longest he's ever had a job was under 3 years. He's not a total loser he 's been in the nat. guard his whole life and works part time and is going to school part time. He's at their rented house in Ga. and she's in KS. going to school to be a vet. Their up to their eyeballs in school loans. He's driving a beater and she's walking was going to give them a 2000 Lincoln LS I have sitting here but now might have to sell it to cover our butts. We'll see. My point is that he's 40 and should have been done with school and supporting my daughter. I know it's really really tough out there. Enough rant. Bigz that's a whole lot of garden! I'm not goiing to put down any material between the rows like last year. Just going to weed it. Figure with all the tilling and preweeding it shouldn't be as bad. Cool coop Amy! Good job! Neat how we can make use of old materials. I see a trend of more people reusing instead of disposing. It's about time. Been doing it my whole life. KAQ good idea on the transitional coop! BBCB JP isn't playing in WI till Sept. hopefully things will have turned around for you by then! If things get straightened out for us I'll do my idea. But we have to cover our butts. Hope you understand! CN5 hope your child is feeling better and you got to sneak in a good nap. What kind of chickies did you say you were getting? Heading out to haul 2 loads of true junk in for recycling. Hope I have the courage to put all of it in the trailer. It's not going to be easy.

What an eventful 24 hours! I had my interview yesterday and it took over an hour and a half! I was up at 5 to race into Appleton to get my DD registered at school in the classes she wanted to take, and then I was contacted by another company wanting an interview!

BBCB you WILL be getting calls soon, I just know it!

The duckie eggs are still going strong, but I think I am going to end up with only 2 babies if I am lucky. There are 2 eggs that started to develop (one with the broken air cell) that look like they have quit. Not as much veining in them and they do not look like they are growing much.

Ok, off to take a quick nap before work.

Later everyone!

you seem to be candling alot are you picking up these eggs, or just putting the light on the egg, call eggs are as bad as Serama they do not like to be jiggled. it will be hard but your best bet is to leave them alone.

wow everyone seems to be keeping busy

Our newest 4 baby chicks are growing feathers in like weeds and they are just 1 week old, have the 18 Andalusian eggs in the incubator and Sunday will be day seven-we try very hard to leave our hands off expect for turning-so far so good!

Love the garden pictures bigzio-it looks like you will have helpers or maybe a couple of bosses
