Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hey everyone just checkin in to see what's going on. Looks like everyone is planting and having some new additions in the coops. I've been rather busy with work. Rain was nice to have this morn. Tomorrow night I have to work CHEESFEST in Little Chute for the 4-H club. Always alot of fun and Sonic Circus is playing so it should be alot of fun.

I had a 2 week old turkey get out on me and was gone for two days and yesterday morn got up and heard some peeping that sounded familiar and there the little bugger was still alive and well under a pine tree. Man can that little bugger run!! Took me my wife and two butterfly nets to catch it. Have a great weekend. Mike

Ooh, I forgot to mention - while I was at the spay/neuter clinic at the animal shelter today, one of the staff members asked me if I'd like to be a speaker at an animal care presentation they're doing at the chamber of commerce building this summer. They're getting all sorts of professionals from around the area - a veterinarian to talk about cat care, a dog trainer to talk about dog training, someone to talk about horse care, and they want to know if I would come and talk about poultry!

I must really talk about my birds a LOT while I'm there volunteering!

glad you found us. Hope you can make it to the cheeseheads bash next Sat on the 12th. Good luck with the cockerals.

Annarie, thanks for the pics of the cool flowers. I've never seen those in the wild either. That's sad to think someone has to wreck sacred places for fun. I hope someone has to pay restitution for such a mindless act.

amyable, sounds like the same book. The author is Stan Tekiela. Glad to hear you enjoy it too!
I'd love to add more flowers here. Maybe next year when I have fewer projects going on.

Cedar post, glad you stopped to visit. have a great 4H time!

Yep, the rain lasted til about 1pm. Didn't feel like starting anything major, so just a walk around the gardens to what's up. Plenty of weeding in the near future for sure.

Enjoy the week end... ~ bigzio

Aves. I have one that I am trying to sell right now too. He so sweet and shy. Good boy. He's the only one I have left that I took from the rummage sale. All the others I took sold the first day.

OooooH! I am worn out.

I think I'll bring some of my Iris's for sale at the party. I have a GREAT collection of them. Fancy ones. My plan is to get very color and I am well on my way. BL4 actually stopped in with her sister today and picked up a few. And a peony too. Mind you. It was raining out. I had a small flood going on in my run and near the door to the coop. What next?

Well-supper's finally done. Have a nice night everyone!

Annarie I can't thank you enough for sending me that craigslist ad! They little duckies I picked up today are very cute, and mine was terrified of them for about 5 seconds. I told that wonderful lady and her hubby to join us here on BYC so she can meet with all of us WI like-minded people!

FM, thanks for the flowers, I STILL have to get them into the ground. No time today with running down to Mayville and getting my cousins oldest DD. She is going to have a blast this week!

I'll post pics of the babies as soon as possible. Maybe the hatchery ones will show up this next week too.

Ok, I'm not a cheesehead but I only live about 10 miles from the border in Illinois so...

Could everybody who attends poultry shows, swaps, auctions etc. keep on the look out for my 11 Dutch Hookbill ducklings. I believe they were stolen from my house last night. I live about 10 miles from the Wisconsin border near Rockford, IL so they could be in IL or WI.

I had 5 dusky (they are basically dark with some tan striping showing on their new feathers), five bibbed (dusky with white chests and some white on their bellies), and one white. They are about 1 month old, just starting to get their feathers.

I believe they were stolen because they all disappeared from my chicken tractor last night, no sign of struggle, not a feather, bit of down, or blood anywhere, no scratches on the tractor and the fence that allows them to roam a bit during the day was not disturbed. The only way out was a 2" tall opening that would have been a very tight squeeze for the ducklings. They have been in the tractor for at least a week with no issues - now they are all gone.

I posted on the duck forum and the overriding opinion is that they were stolen. I'm heartbroken and am trying my best to find them. I can't believe anyone would steal them but I also can't believe a predator took them and left no trace.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Baybrio - I'll be keeping an eye out at any swaps I go to, and I know the rest of the Cheeseheads here will too! I know it's a long shot, but maybe we can still bring the babies home safe!

You were 7 mins from me. Had I know I would have told you to stop over so we could meet. She would have loved to see all the baby goats that were just born. Was home all day too. Oh well another time.
Hope all are having a good day. The rain was nice yesterday and look forward to getting more today. Pasture needs it. Thinking I'm going to bring babies next weekend but going to put 3 of my boys on craigslist this weekend. They are getting to spunky for their own good. They will be a year in August and are constantly fighting among themselves. Time to send them on their way. Going to get some rummaging in before the rain. Take care

The rummage sale went really well. Going to have one here in a couple weeks.

Today we're off to see the Packers play baseball. DH's sister got tickets for him for Christmas.

Hope everyone enjoys the day.

Aves!!! Baybrio that's pretty low stealing someones birds. Good luck finding them! Annarie that's neat that they asked you to talk! Came home early didn't look to see how much rain we got here but it started up there about noon real light for a couple of hour and of course by the time the fire got going good it was pouring. Fishing was not good I caught a 2 foot northern yesterday morning on a homemade musky bait and had about a 30" musky follow last evening between some rain showers. But I did manage to get mine and our Indiana neighbors lawns mowed, mines more of an area than a lawn. We mow each othes lawns when were there. Good people. Did get to see alot of people up there that we don't always get to visit with. Was only a 30% chance of rain up there yesterday and showers this afternoon it was starting to rain when we pulled out around 9. We had a great time! Kids all got fresh water and the girls had 16 eggs waiting for us. Checked the gardens and the carrots came up--- a lot of carrots! Think maybe a double planting might have something to do with that. Gonna need some thining. Things to do before drag racing. CN5 haven't heard from you in awhile how are things going? fm slow down on the dancing you know what it leads to.
