I forgot to answer that question! I got them from Keith LeGrande (I'm not sure if I spelled his last name right...), his username is alwayscochins here on BYC, and he got three of these birds directly from Judy Gantt (she's the #1 Cochins International Master Breeder in the Bantam Mottled variety right now, #4 in Blacks, and #2 in Whites)...one of the Blue Mottled hens was directly from Jamie Matts (again, if you're not familiar with him, he's one of the top 3 or 4 names in Cochins), and then there were, I believe, 4 birds that he raised himself. I have it all written down in a binder, I just don't know where the darned thing is at the moment. In any event, these birds aren't just pretty. They're some of the best. I mostly got them because they're pretty though!
I don't know about having pedigree on the property, you know who will be the first to get eaten if a prediator would come around. My luck anyway.
No seriously they are some of the prettiest cochins I've seen in awhile and come spring or fall or whenever, if you have chicks I would love to buy some. I showed my DD7 the pictures and she said that they are a must have. I love that she is just as into chickens as me. Terri- I'm sooo taking you if/when I take those chicks to DrH. He doesn't even know he ordered any.
What a road trip that would be. First I have to make sure they hatch out and they are penciled. Well have to clean the house today and my girlfriend is coming over to pick up the last two chicks. Then I will really have a empty nest.
Oh well it will fill up soon enough. Hey Terri- you have a assortment of birds, do you keep you gamebirds and chickens together? Have you had any problems? I really want those quail, but am worried about them getting something from my chickens. This is what happens when I read to much.
