Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hello Everyone,

So I started a new batch of eggs. It's a completely random test hatch. I have buttons, cortunix, serama, mixed chicken, and duck eggs all it the bator together. It should be neat. I have a Brower Top Hatch so the turning is sooo minimal I'm not worried about the turing ruining the hatch. It's just a fun hatch so we will see how it turns out.
This was my daughters first year Trick or Treating. We live in a pretty high class neighborhood. All of our neighbors have mansions and are doctors and lawyers. Normally it's intimidating because we are the smallest house in the area, but it worked out great for us on Halloween. She is still pretty young so we only made it around one block but she filled her WHOLE BAG! Most of the neighbors gave out huge bunches of candy. I thought I would share some pics with all of you.

DrHa- I'm with you on the ads. I'm soooo done with them. Every commercial break! We didn't get any phone calls because we are on cell phones but they could save a couple of trees and keep the flyers. So happy after today. I have a client in the morning and we are voting different, but could agree that we hate all the ads. Maybe that was their plan to get both sides together, kill us with politics!

Set a couple of quail eggs yesterday. First time batoring so I'm a nervous ninny. Hopefully all will go good. DD3 is SO excited. That little girl loves her quail. FM-thank your friend again for me, her girls are wonderful. Hello to all that are new! I've learned alot on here and hope you will too. As far as winterizing the coop all I do is the deep litter method from now until March, to keep the floor warmer. I add pine shavings when needed. My coop is insulated and I have a wall of windows that face south. My coop gets about 40 even on days when its 0. The windows really help. I do put a heat lamp in there if it gets below 0. Also long as it's draft free they will be fine. TO- my coops are scrap materials too. When DH tore down the old barn he kept anything that could be used again. I also just built my quail coop with materials from the job he's on right now. I know what you mean about taking longer, but when it costs nothing it worth it. Well have a great day everyone! Starting school again today. And yes Dr it so far looks better than the last semester, Key word "so far". Hopefully everyone else on here in school is doing well. Take care!

Goth Chick- love the pics. My twins are 4 and they got quite a haul too.
I with you all for the ads to stop. We get about 6 calls a day besides the flyers. Wonder how many will be on the machine when I get home from work tonight.
Well my good news is that the coop is 99% done- just need to make the boxes and pick up the hay this week and we will be set. Pick up my chickens this weekend - hooray.
Now if the weather can just hold out a few weeks longer. I am just not ready for the white stuff to fall!

kristip OMG bet your nonstop tired, 4yr old twins. But think the noise of washer and dryer put you to sleep. Glad to hear your getting your birds soon. Bec glad to hear your class load is better! Hope it stays that way! Told my Army buddies that there were going to be big changes come tomorrow. New name plates and stationary. SSDD! GC what a cherub! Bet she was kinda freaked out over the whole deal but seems to be adjusting with the spoils. Got a lot done today but not all on the list as usual. Hey gotta have something to do tomorrow!

Good evening everyone! What a nice couple of days it has been--looks like more to come for the weekend too...after the thread of that bad "S" word for Thursday night of course! I just had to sit down for a little after putting the roast in and catch up. I am exhausted--DD24 and I started out Zumba dance/exercise class this morning. It was really fun but I sure could have used a bit more sleep last night...I was really out when she woke me up this morning...unloaded hay last night until 11:30! Good news--only 2 more loads and I think I will be set until March or so.

If we donate that Morgan it will go all that much further...
No work done on the coop but I did pick up 2 12' 2x4s that I needed at a construction site today...man they just say they burn the stuff or put it in the landfill if there are knots or a little warping...I guess you probably wouldnt want that in your walls...sure is great for us scavengers though!
OK--my break is done...gotta get dogs fed, chores done and potatoes peeled!
Have a great night and may the BEST candidate win...and actually do what they say they will! Terri O

Hey everyone didn't get a darn thing done around here Lol. Went and voted and picked up hardware to put the blower on the lawn tractor seems like every year I have to buy something that I lost this spring.
Gothchic you have a beautiful little girl I. Would post pics of mine if I weren't so computer illiterate.

Drh sorry to hear you were in the Army !! GO NAVY LOL

Evening All... hope everyone voted today. We fight wars and young men give their life for the right to vote...doesn't matter who you vote for, as long as you use your vote!
Thanks for the pics Goth, and a big Welcome to Golden Acres. I'm not real far away in Waupaca Co.
Doc I'm hoping to get some fire wood piled too! I wasen't sure if it's a big deal between cod liver oil and fish oil? Maybe it's the same thing you guys are talkin about? I always gave the cocker spaniels a teaspoon on their dry feed. They loved it and their coats looked great.

Jim has like 50 pullets that he is trading for cockerals 1 for 1....they are the results of crossing a sex link hens and a BLRW....should be good layers. He would sell some outright too! Just a thought .

Amazing how much runs through the brain in a couple hours in the tree stand. In regards to the grit that fleet sells, it works fine. If your flock free ranges, then no need to offer grit til the ground freezes. Otherwise they find all they need while out and about. I fill the grit feeder during winter. I simply have a small bread tin tacked to the wall...works fine.

Have Fun, Stay Safe....~ bigzio

Thanks everyone for all the congrats on show results. Finally got a pic of my black rooster , so thought I would share. Hopefully have some nice chicks in the spring. Got pretty much all the extra birds sold for winter. Just have one standard blue cochin roo left to go. He is a good guy, and would give him away to a good home. Only 1 1/2 years old, but got 3 other cochin roos, so one has to go. Night all.

We have two storage units, one for about 3 yrs now.. we have been unable to pay for it, the last 2-3 months due to my accident and then infection.
He put a lien on it, but then called today, I was going to let the stuff go.. we just couldn't pay it.. even at 55 a month.
He asked if we could get the stuff out by end of Nov.. he would forgive the debt.

I cried, I WILL pay him back in this next year he will get a surprise envelope with money in it.
