Hey everyone!
Well, I am finally feeling better! I've made it through 2 days of clinicals at Sheboygen Memorial hospital and everyone there is as sweet as sugar!! I am in my phleb rotation, as this hospital is small, the med techs do go up on the floor to draw in the mornings and occassionally. I know at bigger hospitals like St. Lukes, thats not the case. I am doing well! I am nervous to draw on patients still, as I just want to do the best I can do. I have drawn 3 patients so far, I messed up on the first one but the guy was a trooper. I didn't hurt him, but when I was switching tubes the needle popped out and he had some blood run down his arm
So after some refining on my switching tubes I drew two patients on Friday with perfect sucess. Not to mention I have drawn 3-4 techs and all with good sucess. I think I will have confidence going in on Monday and doing the morning draws.
The hardest part of clinicals for me is realizing this people really are SICK! In school they don't prep you for this, and all you see of these people are their little tubes of blood. Well then you get into the real world and walk into their rooms and see them in such pain, it's sometimes hard to handle! I've had family in the hospital and have been there, but it's crazy for me to be on the other side of that situation. Being the person trying to help them.
Well enough about clinicals. DH is up in Sturgeon Bay for deer hunting this weekend. No deer today from him, bummer! He was such a sweetheart and sent the toddler to the sitter, as with this pregnancy I can't get up with him real fast in the mornings otherwise I get sick. So, off to the sitter he went. I miss him, but I know it's best for me to try and be as healthy as possible so I can help this baby out! DH also cleaned up the whole house for me so I didn't have anything to do! Talk about a nice weekend off! My back is thanking him, I need to get used to walking up and down stairs 8 hours a day again!
Everyone ready for Thanksgiving?
