Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

rocks can lay very well, but find out how old they are, if more than 2 yrs they should be cheep, you will not have egg laying machines but they should lay pretty good.

Hey Jason, we have some,
gig.gif
those girls are my "store bought" eggs that I hatched last year. I don't pay much attention to who layed what and when ( I just can't, to many) just wanted to say that those 2 girls are my cranky girls. There is no sticking your hand under them.
lau.gif
but still they hold a place in my heart cause I hatched them from eggs I bought in our local store (farm fresh eggs)
ya.gif
sound corny?!

MAN I can't wait till March! I'll be setting eggs and eggs and MORE eggs! now that I know that I'll have a buyer!

as long as it's not the cornishX.

Raim that really sucks with all the sicko's at your house. Called a friend of mine that retired 6 mo. after me to see if he got his tax stuff from the pension. He sounded like death warmed over. He always does when he has the slightest sniffle. His wife said to say hi to me so I said hi back and told him to tell her that I was sorry that she has to put up with his big baby act. He laughed and said yup I'm a BIG baby. He goes close to 400lbs. 6' 100" size 15 boots. Big dude! Heart of gold though that's usually the case. The inch of white stuff has a nice crust on it from rain. I don't like a lot of rain! It leads to bad things. Think I have all the needed tax info as far as interest and income. Now waiting for my contractor to come over and give me an estimate on the damages. Then a trip to the Rothschild IRS office to see if I'll be able to get anything out of them. From what I've gleaned from the booklet it might be a full return of the previous years taxes paid in. Not much better than a sharp stick but every little bit helps. Got my work done now on to the seed catalogs with beer.

A month? Couldn't you just pay out of pocket for it?

I would, but it's $60 bucks!! I know to a lot of people, it's inconvient but "oh well" but to us, that's something we really -really- can't pay right now. We need food more than the prescription. : \\ Such is life. Our hardtimes will hopefully be over soon!

Saturday Afternoon All.... I was just gonna catch up on the reading here earlier here just before i went out and cleaned up the 3" we have here, when i read your email pick raimnel....it's just about how i feel too! Hope you'all are gonna mend fast....mom always said to gargle with HOT salt water as often as possible to cure the throat issues.
I can relate to the big and gentle Doc....My best favorite boss was 350 for sure, and just simply the best. I can't find words rewarding enough that fit the gentle giant of a man!

Another nice suprise in the mail box....first season harvest tag for spring turkey...Oh MY, the Creator is in my heart and mind.....Can't wait for that....not many things get this old dog excited anymore lately. The spring hunt does for sure!

Venzun roast with tatoes and green beans for supper....suzie baked home made buns and a apple pie....I need to make sure I have enough beers this afternoon to stir the hunger up good.

Cleaned out the chicken coop (was getting right damp and not fresh in there) and bedded the chooks down with fresh shavings. They dined on scrambled eggs, super worms, tortillas, and a little leftover black beans today. They must like their new shavings, promptly laid 3 fresh eggs within an hour. Good girls. Still nothing from the Ameraucanas, but hopefully come spring they'll kick into gear. Considering currently they just have Marans roosters over them, should make some olive egger chicks. I'll have to hold on to a few of them just for the egg color for my basket. Not a blessed egg from my RIR hen that supposedly was a 1 1/2 year old hen that I got this fall. Oh well, she'll make soup come spring if the Ameraucanas beat her in beginning to lay.

Should have lavender bantam Ameraucanas and some silkies hatching this weekend, fingers crossed for a good hatch!

My chickies from NYD are doing well and getting huge! I have a splash Marans (probable rooster) and a cuckoo Marans, 2 black and 1 blue Ameraucana, and a Black Copper Marans that is answering my question of "what does this mossiness I hear about look like?" It's got it in spades.

Ah well, if it's a cockerel, it'll get eaten. If it's a pullet, I'll enjoy some dark eggs, hopefully. The white silkie chick is keeping up with them, too...massively larger than the 1 week younger silkie I hatched out from some shipped silkie/showgirl eggs. Not sure which one is correct, but the little one is the same size as my day old Marans and it is a couple weeks old. Have 3 "black" Marans chicks that are a few days old now doing well. Can't wait to see what they feather out into.

Also got more puppy photos today, but I will try to refrain from posting ALL of them.

Here are just a couple.

Well Mr. Nic, our young roo, has found he likes the big girls!!. My barn owner/friend Joan said she saw him "servicing" Nell, our standard cochin, she is at least 4 this year, possibly older! I HOPE!!! she lays some eggs.
I want to hatch out a chick or two of hers!

I apparently have "Roof chickens".. the new bantam cochins like the upper part of their dog kennel, it has a board on top, they are still in QT for another 2-3 weeks.
Their food went untouched for a day or so, so Joan put their food and water up there, now they don't want to get down....

I hope they don't do this in the big stall.

I got Zeus the new horse yesterday, it was a bit of a nightmare getting the trailer positioned so I could turn around.. I actually had to unhook it 2x

and reposition the truck and then rehook up.
SO then I get him and I knew he might be a bit reluctant to load.. he was all

(back and forth and NO I don't wanna go!) He then sniffed the trailer and finally did this

and got right in.

The frost heaves were so bad I almost lost the trailer, and was doing a fast 45....
SO I crept down towards monroe doing 35 till I got on 69 and I did wave at kristip as I went through New Glarus, hit cty W, then to 92 and stopped over at where I board at. He is there till monday.
I got out of the trailer like the old pro he is supposed to be.. and then promptly did this

, a bit more not wanting to go into the barn..
and then finally just went in.. got his hay and sniffed horses through the window.
Today he is out back in a pen where he can see the other horses, he was good today, no hesitation at all... smart horse!!
LOL
I rode my client's horses today, they were GOOD boys!!
I am cleaning stalls tomorrow, chicken and horse!

Later my friends!
