Finally found a home for my Iowa Blue rooster (if she shows up tomorrow). I know she thinks I'm crazy. She got the "What do you want him for?" And I even asked her if she had a chicken coop. She sounded pretty new to chickens. She said "Yes. Why, do you have one for sale?" My reply, "No, I just wanted to make sure my chicken is going to a decent home." I'm not good at selling animals, I really want to go to each person's house and do a full inspection and get references (even for a rooster that I was originally planning on butchering). I bred my dog once . . . never again! No home is good enough for my dog's puppies.

So I have had soooo much going on lately. I spent last night in the E.R. after my sister, my daughter, and I were in a car accident and now I have to wear a silly neck brace because I tore some muscle in my neck and damaged some other muscles. So not good at all.

Also if anyone is looking for a new indoor kitten or a new farm cat the Free Roaming Felines Program I foster for is in need of new forever homes. We have some adult indoor cats available and some feral barn cats as well. The program catches feral and outdoor cats and gets them their shots and gets them fixed and then either finds indoor homes for the tame cats/kittens or finds farm homes for the feral cats/kittens. Adoption fees are only $45 and we are just require an adoption contract. I currently am fostering an AMAZING little 6 month kitten that is finally ready for a new forever home. He has had a really rough start but is still the nicest kitten you will ever meet. I would LOVE if someone from the WI BYC adopted him so I could hear how he grows and is doing.

And..... if anyone wants Coturnix Quail eggs I am giving away eggs for only the cost of shipping. I have a post in the Other hatching egg sales section if anyone is interested.

on your hatch. Jim had to laugh at your commenting on that guys bator. I have a hard time keeping my opinions to myself and am constantly in trouble. Have found that people really don't like to hear the truth. Bigz hope Susies buns turn out. I thought it was weird when I was making bread that it was dry enough and still had had almost 2 cups of flour left over. It's usually within half a cup.

raim glad to hear that the DH's elbow isn't busted up! While it hurts at the time you pay for it the rest of your life.

Think my idea of going fishin today is getting delayed a day or two. Don't have a game plan for today yet but I'm sure something will come to mind. Hang in there people warmer days ahead!

I agree DrH., enough of this cold already.. and 8 above is not much of a respite.

Once it hits above freezing, I am going to put the last few rubber fingers into my chicken plucker and call it finished..

then when it hits about 40 F I want to butcher all the extra roosters and test the plucker.. I will need their pen for a breeding pen for either ducks, or guineas..

when I was in the mood, I wish I would have built a lot more of those pens.. maybe I will get into the mood again next summer..

I have photos of everything,, I will post them as soon as I get my computer hooked up.. My daughter told me last night that she is coming out this weekend to hook it up..

as much as I want the warm weather, I have to say that I'm NOT looking forward to cleaning the coop. right now it don't stink! but come that warmer weather

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. My neck is KILLING ME! They have me on Valium and Vicodin and it doesn't seem to be doing anything. My husband had to take off the day off the accident and then he took off all day yesterday because I can barely move my shoulders and my neck isn't moving at all so it's almost impossible to run after and take care of my 19 month old. Plus the neck brace itches sooo back but if I take it off the pain is way worse.

As for the eggs if anyone is interested I should have some March dates open. I live in Manitowoc so I am more then willing to let people come here to pick up the eggs if wanted. I actually sold 12 eggs to a guy from Kewaunee the other day.

Sunny Afternoon All.... Best Wishes for a fast recovery Goth! I was in a car accident once too and was slammed in the rear...I was driving and after I was hit I couldn't find the glasses I was wearing....oh there they are in the backseat, on the floor ..... talk about whiplash!

Yep Doc Suzies buns turned out great. She has a quart of honey that she wants to use up, so she substituted the 4 tbs of sugar with honey. They turned out nice and golden...had one with fresh egg salad for lunch....yummy.

I'm getting anxious to get out and accomplish something. I feel like a holed up rabbit...
