Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Well I had to do coop maintanence inside the stalls, the stooopid roosters are trying to go over one side to see if the seed is greener... LOL
So I had to nail more things to other things, and re-staple the plastic up.. grrrr (picture hot head hitting brick wall)

There is an auction next Saturday and someone consigned a H&S chopper box converted to chicken house, on wagon.
I drove by there and its HUGE!!. I am sure it will go more than I can afford.
(picture tears streaming from a sad smiley)

I got back so late I had to call Hens and Roos to pick up my chicks tomorrow.
I will get pics of them up.

Remember my basement is finished and we have to keep the chicks away from where the Irish Setter crates up. Also, we're talking about the guy

who moved trailers out of the heated garage last winter so 9 foster pups could have a bigger area to play and hang out!

A question for the Beaver Dam Swap...
Can I bring my extra rooster to give away??
I think he is a black sex link, I don't need another large roo, he is causing my blue bantam cochin roo some issues and my other big roo Nic... issues too.

Let me know.
THANKS

Well, BYC was messed up last night for sure! I made a nice long post .... I even reread it on the forum. Today I was going to start reading where I left off..... It wasn't there!

Oh well....
Hope all the ill critters recover soon! I think the "frizzle" needs a hat too to go with here new coat!...LOL

Hope everyone who went to "Fondy" got what they wanted!......which leads me to.....

I found some chickens (a Dec. hatch) on CL a few days ago so I e-mailed about them...

she said someone was coming to look at them
sad.png
but if any were left she would let me know.

Thur. night she said she had 2 black ones left but she had 5 hens under 2 years old if I wanted them for $1 each

So Fri. I went to look at them! Nice, big, clean, FANCY hens! So as we rounded them up and the 2 little black ones, we got to talking.... she asked if i would be interested in a Turken pullet from a later Dec. hatch.... COOL!

When we got to the brooder she said "what about a RIR?"....
wee.gif
So. I got 2 young Australops (I think) a young Turken, a young RIR @ $4 ea. And the 5 hens... a gold and buff Ameraucana, and 4 other reddish/speckled ones I think one is a Cochin or dark Brahma... I'll post pic.s as soon as I can. We were in kind of a hurry and I haven't had time to really look at them! At least 1 has "fuzzy feet"! LOL And I think most are speckeled.... I'll see when I take pics. She wasn't sure either, she has a "petting farm" and she gets either mixed pullets or mixed cockerels but because some of the breeds can be so close it's hard to tell what they are. Anyway I'm a happy, happy camper!

Khaki Campbells were the first breed of duck I fell in love with. Unfortunately, all of my "bigger" ducks (bigger than a Mallard or Call, that is) had to go - including my ENITRE flock of Dark Campbells. I was only able to keep ONE of my original Khaki Campbells, for sentimental reasons.

Anyways, the quail are officially 1 week old, and they moved from the basement to the garage today. I knew quail grow FAST, but HOLY COW! They have more feathers on them already than my Bantam Cochins do at 2 months old! And the higher protein food definitely makes more stinky poo!

Love them anyways though!

They look a little cold in this pic, but it was just after I put them in the new brooder, so they're just huddling because they're scared! I checked on them just a few minutes ago, and they look perfectly comfy.

The little wooden house is a hiding place to avoid aggression issues!

Oh.... more cute little ones!
I was in TSC Fri. and they JUST got in little tiny mixed Bantam chicks! It was soooo hard not to come home with a box full!
