Hi!--just got home from work and wolfed down 4 scrambled eggs and some creamed corn that was left over from the fam's dinner....I am still hungry! Maybe I will go and see if there is any ice cream downstairs...that sounds good!
No Carol--no pics of the geese...they were all over at the neighbor's pond! I sure hope if he sells the place the new folks dont mind geese in the pond! They have been going over there for 20 years! Bet I cant stop 'em either. I thought we said we would meet here at 6? Then we will arrive about 6:45 and can shop a while before we meet with the other BYC folks.
Hey, anyone looking for a really friendly pygmy goat? He is a wether. My friend came over to day and said that he wants to get rid of him so he can use the shed for something else...just sending out a feeler...hi will be at my house on Sunday (prolly) so maybe the "woman who takes all animals that need a home" will take him home with her?

OK--gotta scare up some of that ice cream...too bad I cant put malt powder on it any more

(PS) Those were some of my coop roos SusieJ--they dont really fight too much. They seem to each have their own group of girls that are "theirs." I also have a pen of "bachelors" that are fine together too. All in all it is a pretty harmonious place here!

He looks so small compared to the Maran, hope he grows some more! Glad he has someone to pal around with anyway.... I was feeling sorry for him here! Has he been behaving? You sure have some handsome boys there.... what ever they are!

Yesterday I let the girls have full run of the yard for the first time and they loved it! I finally got the fence up between us and the neighbor. The house has been empty for a few years but they have over 50 med./small pines just right for chickens.... and I didn't want to have to go chicken hunting in those pines, we have a few if they want to play in the trees! LOL They were all good little girls and all came to roost in the coop just fine. Today 2 of the grandsons (5 & 2 1/2) came over had had a grand time trying to pet the chickens!

I do have a couple that are very friendly so they got to pet them... the rest.... not so much

Good Morning Everyone! Your right Susie J. Have to go get some more mud this morning and put on the final coat after sanding then a little touch up of mud then primer to see if I did alright. Unless there's a real bad spot think it's going to be good enough. Getting real tired of eating sanding dust even though wearing a mask helps. As long as I'm in Rapids I have to check to see if the taxes are done

pick up some feed and few other things. Always try to consolidate trips with the gas prices, but always have. Told L that once the bathroom is done I'm taking a break. She just laughed at me and said ya right. Had a very long detailed dream this morning about building an HD trike. Must be spring fever

good morning,, half coffee'd up. the geese gave me the slip last night.. they snuck under the rooster pen and went behind the big snow pile.. so they spent the night not locked inside. 2 turkeys spent the night on the deck.. As long as the wild critters leave them alone I don't mind. but it takes just one attack and there goes your best hens..

I moved a batch of (barred rock rooster x red star hen), eggs to the hatcher.. I hope to get some nice egg layers out of this ..

I think , since Annie is home today, I am going to work outside..
I have brooder pens to clean so I can get the chicks out of the living room, and make room for this next batch due on Sat..

I received my Reptitherm 500R yesterday.. just to try it out, I am running the two brooders with it.. It seems to hold the temp pretty well.. Funny thing though.. the heat source is a light bulb in each brooder.. when the light goes off, the chicks quit eating and drinking.. LOL I think they will get over that in time..

does anybody need any roosters? I have about a dozen of assorted year-old boys .. I am not sure of all the breeds.. but if they are not sold, they are going into the freezer.. we do not need the meat.. I just got them to test the plucker I built..

I'm running on 5 hours of sleep right now and I have a proctored Heredity exam to go take in 2 hours, but I can't sleep anymore, too excited!

First of all, my Mille Fleur Cochin eggs should be here any second! I'm not sure what "secret" BL4 was referring to the other day, but I have 2 right now.

First is that my engagement ring is arriving today as well - BUT, I only get to try it on to make sure it doesn't need to be re-sized, and then it's being locked in the GUN SAFE (because he doesn't trust me not to tear the house apart and find it

) until I "officially" get it back in May.

Second is that tomorrow we're going to be starting the process of buying our dream house! Found the perfect place, just a 10 minute drive from where we are now, but more rural and on about an acre (I wanted more land, but this house is too perfect to whine about that, and there's plenty of room for Cochins and Calls, and those are my 2 birdie loves anyways - I can do without the bigger ducks and the geese). We haven't put the house in town on the market yet, and it's going to be tight, but we can swing having them both for the time being, until we get this house ready to sell. We already have a friend who's interested in buying it to use for a rental property, so we shouldn't be sitting on 2 mortgage payments for too long - and even if it falls through and we are stuck with them both, we can pull it off.

I'm too excited!

Going to try to make it to Beaver Dam on Sunday, but I didn't request the day off work and I won't know my schedule until I go in later tonight. Hoping I'm off or don't have to work until late!

Morning all, The boy bought a couple of more ducks this AM, 3 Roens. He should be set for a while now...

Not going to make beaver dam, life will continue I guess....

Anyone needs a few chicks let me know. We ordered from Murray McMurray, and are willing to part with a few Delawares (Straight Run) and some of the Americana's (Pullets). We also have some Mille Fluers and something else. Only wanted the ones for 4-H showing so the extras can go. $4.00 each or a better deal for 4-H Kids. PM Me.

I almost typed Annarie. Hope your dream house comes true! TO cool apron! You deserve it you put in a lot of work on your cool mini coop. Got the toidy room sanded and the last major layer of mud on.

It went on really nice so I'm thinkin there won't be much touch up.

Laura volunteered [after a hint] to paint it. I paint pretty well but she is meticulous. Kinda gloomy out there today but warm! Need to go check eggs, got 9 yesterday think the days we only got 5 was because of the 6 yr old helper I had. Touchy lil "B"s
