dkvart!!!

You will be in SERIOUS trouble!!
I started with some Red Sex Link and a bantam rooster.. then 3 old 4H show hens...
I now have over 30 and 2 ducks... in 2 years...

Welcome aboard!!

Wichookchick, I am beginning to see how this little hobby and inkling to have a chick or two can turn into something wildly out of control, Lord help me!

It's funny DH has stated in no uncertain terms he will NOT take care of the chickens and we will NOT eat any of the chickens! He'll be spoiling them before I will, just ask our 125 lb dog who has his own lounging sofa/bed!! Add to that that neither of us can turn our backs on a needy animal and I see NOTHING but trouble brewing! I am beginning to think we should have went with the bigger property, but I was hoping the small acreage would help keep things in check... sigh

jvls1942, hope all goes well tomorrow.

edited because I think way faster than I type and seldom proof read...

I just wanted to post a few pics of the new babies. The all yellow one is my Aseel that I hatched. He was the only one that made it out of six shipped eggs. So far the name that is "sticking" (hehehe) is Super Glue since his egg we had to superglue!

Hopefully we'll come up with a better name! My dh and I went to TSC-the closest one being 40 miles away!- to get some friends for our chick. Luckily TSC had bantams so I got three straight run mix breed peeps and three Production Red pullets since TSC had a 6 chick minimum. I have no idea what they are but I think I've got an OEGB, maybe two and possible a Sebright but I think litte Gray Striped Dude is an OEGB too. I guess well wait and see. Im hoping that is a couple of weeks we'll get a better idea what they are so nameing them will be easier!

The Aseel and the other three:

Two of the fat waddle-y Production Red pullets checking out the thermometer in their brooder:

The Gray Srtiped Dude and the other one we call the Red Billed One since his beak is a dark reddish color:

Sweet DH must have felt sorry for me being home sick today, brought home a new camera that I've been coveting for well over a year now, a Canon 550 D (Rebel T2i). Mmmm, going to love this camera, performance in lower light and HD video are nice upgrades from my XTi.

Here are some shots of the wheaten pullet and her black silkie buddy for grins. (Test shots to see how it would do without flash in shady indoor light...not bad!

Hurley, how sweet of your DH! Nice pics... now would everyone stop posting cute pics of their chickens???? Now I have to add silkie to my list (sigh), it never ends, does it?

nice camera, nice pictures.. I was never one for taking pictures, but since I got my new camera , I really enjoy doing it.

I have another goose egg and 3 turkey eggs to set..

Annie went to work so I have the Mom watch.. She decided that she didn't like where she is and wanted to leave.. I asked, where are you? "I don't know" where do you want to go ? "I don't know." so I got her out of her chair and took her for a brisk walk through the house.. when we got back to her chair, I asked if she was tired..?
Yes.. How does that chair feel now? "feels pretty good.". LOL

Carol, you're super sweet to offer them, but I won't be in Wisconsin until the first part of June, until them I am stuck in Jacksonville in the most snobbish little gated community one could ever imagine. But I do so appreciate the offer (and would take them in a heart beat if I were there already!)
