Here in Wausau we have 8 inches of heavy wet snow, it is misting now. Glad I don't have chickens yet, I'd have shovel a path to the coop

Ugh, I hate the thought of skating in on this mess.... thank goodness ALL the schools are closed, including Appleton so then at least I do not swing by there on my way to Oshkosh!

Well, I better get moving. Everyone be safe today!!!!!

My DH would be in heaven if he woke up to that! His favorite cold weather activity is snow blowing and FL is misery to him! He's soooo excited to be moving back to WI LOL Me, I don't want to set foot outside when it's cold... looks so pretty though !

schools are cancelled all over, I am a teacher, yes it is a happy day, now I can finish my coop and run plans. Be sure to check 511, it looks like the roads are now all ice covered. Here up north, the highways are still not plowed.

Good White Morning Everyone! OK don't like the white part but do like it better than the clear stuff right now. Don't worry fm I'm not blaming you. This time. Looks like about 3" out there, the cars are moving slower. Think that's the most school closings I've noticed this year. Looks like I'll have to plow a little and put a heat lamp back in the coop for a week. Was going to paint the ceiling yesterday but found some nail dimples in it that needed mud so I taped and painted the wall corners and edges. Can take the roller to it today. Was surprised but about half of the kids came out in that nasty weather yesterday aft. I went to put them to bed early and opened the back door and there at my feet was standing Brownie my fav hen.

I reached down and picked her up and gave her special attention and carried her off to bed. She would be a very good choice for a house chicken. Wish they were litter trainable! Maybe it's a good thing their not. Have a safe day everyone!

Well chicks finally settled down last night.
My cold can't seem to decide where it wants to be, for the last few days its been in my chest.. and now my nose is all plugged up now..
Just after I used Afrin on it...
grrr.

Well now I gots to run up to Waunakee but have to go check horses at my clients place first.

What a mess out there! The plow went by a couple of times and apparently it's not getting down to the road surface because the grator made a pass too. Was thinking that maybe I wouldn't plow but after walking in it and shoveling some it would be real bad after it freezes with this cold spell coming. Set up the heat lamp AGAIN. One of the bulbs broke at the base as I was screwing it in. It wasn't very old and those things aren't cheap

otonoh is having me hatch some slw's for the begining of June. Anyone else? Their free of charge unless I have to deliver. Just picked a nice warm egg otonoh and 2 more hens in the boxes. One in the hand and two in the box Boss. From the movie Warm Hand Joe.

Chicks or eggs let me know! I get to fire up the bator! I get to fire up the bator!

And chicken TV too! Now have to check for eggs and see how much of this mess I can clean up outside, not frozen underneath. Not good! Paint will have to wait.

good morning, lots of posts to read..

the snow here is up to the bumper on Annie's car.. I left the tractor setting with the bucket full of manure.. I should have dumped it on the compost pile when it was easy driving.. Now I might have to dump it right where it sits so that I can use the bucket to push myself out of the snow.. I am going to plow only enough to get the car to the road; and the yard only enough to get the chickens watered and fed.. in a week this will all melt anyhow..

My "painless" lazer surgery hurt like blazes last night.. I am thinking it was painless only for the Dr.. My eye is tender today, but at least I can blink without causing discomfort.. and just so you know if you ever have to go through it.. I could feel the impulses he shot into my eye. about 30 of them.. they felt like tiny hot pricks.. and each shot just added to the heat so that by the time he was finished the eyeball was hurting plenty..

today I am moving a goose egg and a couple of turkey eggs to the hatcher.. I do not have much hope for a hatch , as these are the first ones of the season.. yesterday I set one goose egg 1 guinea, and 5 turkey eggs.. have 3 turkeys laying now..

morning did anyone have the lighting and thunder last night with the snow, it started around here at 9 and lasted till after midnight, is that weird, some of the thunder just kept going and going.......at least no power outages yet, i have babies hatching right now and a second batch hatching on sat.
