Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Bec the question isn't why open the door it's why not? Makes the world a little better place. Keep forgetting to mention. otonoh it turns out there is a price for those lil darlings. Bet you didn't see this coming. Don't know how far away you live from Jim but could you bring me a bunch of his goose feathers for making whistles for the kids at the Bash? Think I'll be seeing you before anyone else. If he doesn't have many just pluck a bunch when he's not looking. They won't say much.

Oh ya and run real real fast! Jim save up as many as you can please! Need to experiment to make them work. Can't find any info anywhere on them. Blows my mind, thought everyone knew how to make them.

Picked up a magazine I think published by TSC [out here]has a short article on heritage breeds in it and a couple from SC. Also watched a mom fold to some new chicks after her kids nearly died from being told no. She caught me grinning and laughed after she said whats a few more. It was

Drha- that mom sounds like me, with my girls and bunnies. Still haven't caved yet, as I'm evil and say they always have to ask Dh and he will always say no. That's what I did at the last years bash. I agree with the door opening. I try to open doors for people when I'm out and about. For some reason, people are always surprised? that just makes me really sad. I've even pumped gas for little old ladies at the gas station. I have female relatives that have never pumped gas (their husbands always did) and just hope someone is helping them. Wish my DH would get on that wagon too.

I hate pumping gas. Oh and Amy I agree that the modern world is nothing to be proud of at times.

OMG Cind that was a scary one! And her mother came looking for the little girl and the "doll" that traded places with the girl ran away! And left the little girl laying under a tree... now a doll... it's no wonder I didn't play with dolls as a kid! LOL

Greedy 545 bunch, eh! If only we could be in charge!

What's up with the chicken soup? Suzie made 8 qts Wed....lots of frozen garden stuff....corn, peas, broccoli, carrots...and store stuff like celery and parsley, and a tasty cockeral that made life more pleasent for everyone that use to be around him! We shared with both grandmas...man they love the containers of home made soup!

Went with Jennie today to help her buy a used pickup truck from the Ford dealer.... She did good, and the owner of the dealership asked me if I wanted a job...

My Dad fell yesterday at the nursing home and broke his nose. Poor dear I wish I could be with him all the time to keep that from happening. He will be 90 this month.
Think I will try to make some beer bread this weekend. Sounds yummy

DH will be building a brooder for me this weekend

Have a great weekend, Susie

It dose get confusing with so many people hatching and buying chicks!

If most of you weren't so far away I would rather get chicks from one of you but they would have to be shipped.

Well, I mentioned to one of our friends that I planed on expanding the coop and setting up more and better areas for newbies and such. My DH, who supports my chicken "habit"

though dose not participate in it, over heard this and replied "I figured that's why you were cleaning out the rest of the shed". So I guess it's a go! LOL (as though he could stop me
wink.png
) I just have to leave room for the tillers! LOL I think he's starting to "crack" though.... we were in TSC and he saw the chicks .... need I say more?

OK...question.... The 5 2yr old hens are a week from being out of quarantine (the mites are gone!) How do I integrate them with the 1yr olds I have? I do free range on a little over an acre and they have seen each other through the quarantine fence. I think out in the yard they may only have a few little squabbles, but what about the coop? And the new ones are larger breeds. Right now the coop is 8 X 10 w/10 nest boxes and 8'+4' of roost space. With old and new chickens I have 17.

Then there is the "young-ins". I have 4 that are about 14 weeks old.... when and how do I introduce them?

Thanks!

Good Warmer Morning All! Cind As far as introducing them start with their given names then their nicknames.
lau.gif
If they've been around each other turn em loose and they'll estabish their pecking order. SusieJ you would have to be by your dads side 24/7 to keep something from happening and even then.... Hope he is OK! MLH Cute chicks! Glad you got the pic straightened out. Bigz the snow is slowly retreating here. Will read that when I get a chance.

Want to get the trim cut and start staining today. Hope to finish tomorrow. Kids are coming over for L's pizza tonight.
