No the tape is for when you lose the bolts.

I agree, it must have been a committee who designed a tractor..

to split mine, I have to take four huge bolts out, disconnect a couple of wires and suspend the front half with a chain hoist. then I just roll the back wheels away from the front half ,, ta-daaa! split tractor.. to put it back together is a bit tricky.. I have some threaded rods I screw into the place where the big bolts came out of and they help guide everything in straight..

If anybody wants hands-on experience, I would be happy guide you through it..

actually the most difficult part is , (like so many other projects), working up the ambition to tackle the job..

duct tape is for loose things,
WD40 is for tight things..

how come you took the chick out of the incubator BEFORE it was dry?

ps cute names

I always take my chicks and ducklings out of the 'bator and move them to the brooder when they're still wet. The humidity's over 70% (I think - I don't know the exact humidity, but there's condensation on the walls!) in the hatcher/incubator - they take FOREVER to dry and fluff out in there! They look much happier when I plop them under a heat lamp on some nice, dry, fluffy pine shavings instead!

Might be unconventional and "wrong" - but I don't care, it works for me!

Walked the dog this morning and there was still about 2 inches of snow on the ground.

But it's melting fast. The daffodils and the crocuses are poking right up through it.

The gosh darned shower isn't finished yet - I've been without a shower (we still have a bathtub, we're not gross!

) for more than 2 weeks now!

Ripped out the old circa 1970 tile shower surround, and we're replacing it with an acrylic surround. But the drywall behind the tile was all rotted out, so that all had to be replaced too. That's done, and the acrylic is up on ONE wall - two more to go. Will took a 5 day weekend this week, so it better get done!

I just got photos of the barn project in Cross Plains.. Looks like a piece a cake.. My son lives just 10 miles from the project so he is going to save me a trip and go do the measuring ..

this is the project for a slightly handicapped young man who wants to sell eggs.. His uncle is donating a 11foot by 40foot section of a barn .. they just poured a brand new cement slab for it..

all my son and I have to do is build 3 walls and a few nests and a couple of doors.. maybe do a little wiring for lights etc..

I love building.. kind of excited about this..

Jim,
I am not too far from Cross plains... if you need more pics.

I met with Kristlip again, I love her kids!

They got to meet the plethera of horses, and my remaining chickens, they took home a buff silkie, and might come back for the frizzle clean legged cochin bantam.
The frizzle rooster and my big boy are going this weekend, I am going to give them away to however wants them. I am going to the Freeport swap on Saturday morning.

i jammed my knuckle OR something bad... I am going to call the doctor tomorrow to see what they say.

TO- I can talk to Joan to see if she still wants a goose or two.. perhaps I can take the ones dumped, if any are female.

Well off to to do dishes.
Carol

WCc thought I sprained couple of knuckles when the water softener abruptly decended into the crawlspace. One finger is now not pointing like it used too. Good thing it's not my favorite one! Hey Hey Hey it's my pinky. My favorite one is the one I pick my nose with. Hope it's not your favorite one and it's just strained! Sf sounds like your using an aquarium for a brooder? Good people I need some quick advice to hopefully save one of the chicks it's guts seem to be hanging out of it's butt by about 1/2 an inch. It looks like the yolk sack on the very end. Help!!!! It seems to be fading away. Watched one of the others just go pfft and it was expelled and all was good. Really don't want to lose another one! Jim sounds like a really neat project! LOL'd at you guidence offer! 2 chicks are almost ready for the brooder and 2 more still zippin!

Hello all... waiting for this warmer weather I hear talk of.
Had a great time with Carol this morning. She does so well with crazy kids who loved the farm. they got to feed the horses some treats, help feed chickens and pet lots of them.
Carol- think that our new silkie likes us, she spent most of the day sitting on our laps and just a little while ago was doing some work on the computer and she laid an egg on my lap. WOW. Never seen a chicken lay so casually!

Anyone making anything special for Easter? We are hosting the family so need to start thinking of my menu soon!

DrH , you weren't supposed to laugh at my offer, you were supposed to come a runnin'..

that yolk sac has to be absorbed.. just give it time.. I read on an incubation thread where somebody suggested cutting it off and somebody else told them to go ahead and do it.. it died.. Ya think? LOL

Carol,do you know where K&K manufacturing is? on hwy P.. that is where I will be next week.. after Tuesday..

the goose gave up and died., but there are 2 turkeys going hard and furious.,, pipping and chirping..

tomorrow a couple of trays of eggs will be transferred to the hatcher,, and then Friday 3 more trays will be transferred over.. 4 dozen to a tray..

Geezus! If I were closer I'd be there in a heart beat to help and if you need some help anyway I love to do other peoples work instead of my own.

Got to make them look nice incase we have to give a tour on Sunday- we're hosting both sides of the family. Making a ham and a turkey on the grill- our last home grown one from last fall- just in time as we will have a new crop coming after fair! DD asked for a 7 layer jello so we will be making that to. My mom is incharge of desserts- apple pie and cherry pretzle torte- yummmmmm

well it looks like our 2 youngest Partridge Bantam Cochins are both boys..... if anyone is interested let me know as we have the pair that my DS(9) will use for fair.

DrH good luck on your hatch and hope that little one absorbs the remainder of the yolk sac
