Mornin' All!
So here it goes:
Welcome to Gaitedgirl-I too hope that is a horsie reference! Missouri Foxtrotter maybe!!!
A very happy belated birthday to Dr.H I hoe you have a nice day! BTW-chicknes don't help, they supervise....that is in chicken version of the "Handbook of Worthless Chicken Tricks-The Unabridged Version".
dk1-I hope your move goes smoothly!
SF-the ducklings are cute! Congrats!
Jim-I'm glad that your getting chicks after the power outage.
Honestly there is more but I had to read 8 pages of comments and I cant remember who said what! So to all my Cheesehead Friends: Happy Spring!!!
Man, dh takes vacation for 3 days and I had so much to do!! Never got a chance to chime in here! Now I have to catch up here, clean the house, grocery shop, laundry, mow the lawn, the list never ends!
We finally finished the chicken yard. The chickies sure do love it!! They had loads of fun running and "flying" and scratching and grass bathing since their bathing hole needs to be built. I will take pics if I get time today!
Despite my best efforts to completely ignore the pheasant eggs in the brooder, we had two hatch out of six eggs. So now I have two itty bitty baby pheasants. They are cute little buggers and that is a fact.
I finally got three meat rabbits yesterday!! I ended up with a Californian buck, a New Zealand/Californian doe, and a Champaigne D'Argent doe. They are all babies yet so I paid for them and they will be ready to bring home June 10! I found them up in Portage and the couple who breeds them are super nice folk! They also breed sheep and I saw a Painted Desert Sheep. Never even heard of them before but they are some seriuosly beautiful sheep.
My dh also managed to devest our chicken flock by almost 30!! This give me hope that I can conquer chicken math! We had a nice lady in Sun Prarie take 17-they were my Orloffs, Barnevelders and the Barnyard Mix. I am holding 3 Orloffs for a gentleman picking them up on Saturday from the Chicago area.
One of the Dairy Sales Reps from Cargill took all 8 of my Bantam Barrdies and RIR's for his kids and I gave him one of the Barnyard Mixes- a beautiful black as black can be pulltet. He also got an Orloff and a Barnevelder. He has a kid who wants to get into poultry showing so those bantie will be great! I hope they do really well for the munchkin!!
So know I have 17 chickens our of what 75. I'm planning on processing the 2 Cornish since one is ancient and the other one has stopped laying. So once we process them, that will be 31 chickens gone in a week!
Speaking of which I gotta go feed them!
Cheers!
