Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Coop update: frame for floor done and floor put on. Today after the milwaukee hearing I plan on sanding the surface a bit and gluing the laminate on, insulating the underside and drilling holes for the posts. Tomorrow I start the front side. A carpenter i am not. This is probably a one day job if you have the right tools and skills. I should take pictures.

Foggy Morning here! Don't worry about being the last for the garden- we still don't have ours in- DH will probably need to re-till it for the 5th time!

Finished another rental unit yesterday and will start another- needs a complete paint job plus carpet-hopefully the landlord will agree to this

dk1-I hope your move goes smoothly!

SF-the ducklings are cute! Congrats!

Jim-I'm glad that your getting chicks after the power outage.

Honestly there is more but I had to read 8 pages of comments and I cant remember who said what! So to all my Cheesehead Friends: Happy Spring!!!

Man, dh takes vacation for 3 days and I had so much to do!! Never got a chance to chime in here! Now I have to catch up here, clean the house, grocery shop, laundry, mow the lawn, the list never ends!
We finally finished the chicken yard. The chickies sure do love it!! They had loads of fun running and "flying" and scratching and grass bathing since their bathing hole needs to be built. I will take pics if I get time today!
Despite my best efforts to completely ignore the pheasant eggs in the brooder, we had two hatch out of six eggs. So now I have two itty bitty baby pheasants. They are cute little buggers and that is a fact.

I finally got three meat rabbits yesterday!! I ended up with a Californian buck, a New Zealand/Californian doe, and a Champaigne D'Argent doe. They are all babies yet so I paid for them and they will be ready to bring home June 10! I found them up in Portage and the couple who breeds them are super nice folk! They also breed sheep and I saw a Painted Desert Sheep. Never even heard of them before but they are some seriuosly beautiful sheep.

My dh also managed to devest our chicken flock by almost 30!! This give me hope that I can conquer chicken math! We had a nice lady in Sun Prarie take 17-they were my Orloffs, Barnevelders and the Barnyard Mix. I am holding 3 Orloffs for a gentleman picking them up on Saturday from the Chicago area.
One of the Dairy Sales Reps from Cargill took all 8 of my Bantam Barrdies and RIR's for his kids and I gave him one of the Barnyard Mixes- a beautiful black as black can be pulltet. He also got an Orloff and a Barnevelder. He has a kid who wants to get into poultry showing so those bantie will be great! I hope they do really well for the munchkin!!
So know I have 17 chickens our of what 75. I'm planning on processing the 2 Cornish since one is ancient and the other one has stopped laying. So once we process them, that will be 31 chickens gone in a week!
Speaking of which I gotta go feed them!
Cheers!

I am hauling a horse for a deadbeat boarder today, she called all in a panic because she has a place to keep the horse at her parents, and her dad dumped a few DUMP truck loads of dirt and rocks in the smaller pasture...
She doesn't want him doing the same to the other, larger one so she needs to move her horse there ASAP... but still feels the need to get his coggins (a required test for horses going to public places/rides/sale/boarding stables)...

DH is home from work, I slept in since I didn't get to sleep until 2 am (again) and got up at 8.. He is now back in bed, and I am about to run off to the barn to hook up the trailer to my truck.
Too much fun.

yup, they are chickens.. In case of a tornado, you take cover and don't play hero to the chickens.. How would putting them into the garage help? Is your garage absolutely tornado proof?

most chickens know enough to get in out of the rain..

you mean they didn't play the "children" card yet? everybody else brings up how this or that might be harmful to the children.. gotta protect our children..

Good afternoon all. Had a busy morning, grocery store, laundry, steam cleaning a sofa, tiding up the house. Potential new renter came to see the place and got the news that my test for Lyme disease came back positive. Drs receptionist convinced him Tusday to call in a script for me (test came back this morning). Get to go see him on Tuesday since the bite still hasn't totally healed, more fun.

Well, vet called, have to go pick up poor old Stanley Mutt Mutt's ashes

breaks my heart.

Hope you folks have a great day!

WCC, I fed the dogs and need to also shave my children lol but Im not into homeschooling the chickens, however I guess we all do cause we have to show them where the food and water are when they hatch!

Dooner, my chickens are afraid of snow, rain, wind, cold..... the clouds roll in and they are gone (in the coop)

dkvart1 find a new Dr. one that gives you the meds just incase it's lyme disease. Thankfully since we got chickens we've only seen a few ticks here and there. only took maybe a year of them being outside to cut the tick population down to nil. Thinking DH & I should bring chickens to our campground and let them loose for the summer lol IDK how chickens ended up here

I know how ya feel, we went to the farm wed and he had shelties, our favorite dog that passed a year ago was a border collie mix and looked just like those little pups and boy was I missing my Zachy.
later gotta get to that dog of mine. It's funny how much OTHER stuff you can find to do instead of something you just don't want to do. I hate being all full of hair. I moved the chicks out side for the day

OH and guess what? those eggs that my DS 5 got, we're gonna put them in the 'bator tonight and and and DH said "well ya may as well fill it up!"
