Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Nooner to All....yep cd you and Doc are right again...sorry about the mistake....anyone want to swap eyesight? Not you Jim! Welcome back glad you had a safe trip. Left a message on your home phone wondering if everything was good. Glad to hear it is!

Ms.F we had a roo do that once, but it was because a fox was after the flock in the yard. Might of been something trying to eat him?

Last year we had name tags at the bash....don't know if someone said they would cover that or not?

You guys are making ne hungry for fish! Anyone think a fish fry Friday night of the bash is an option? If there are folks staying I can bring the lp outside fish fryer....just a thought. Can't be sittin by the fire pit hungry.

Just noticed DA hasent been on lately....or did I miss the post?

Blind in one eye and can't see out the other...tractor and tiller guy said he would do the gardens whenever we are ready. Gonna wait til my trip to the Doctor next tues and take things from there.

You know, I was thinking about what bl4 was telling us about the drunk who killed that woman on the moped. They should have made him go out there and clean the whole accident scene up. I know it was all evidence & it'll never happen, but don't you think they should at least put him right there & see what he caused? If those people had to actually clean up all the remains of what they did, I would sure hope they would learn something. And then throw him in the slammer for 10. Since when have we gotten so lax on murder, anyway? Ok, I'll stop venting now. That just bothered me........TO's idea was a good one too.
Ok, I know this is only the second one, but about how many people come to this bash/event? 20? 50? 100?
Thank you, TO, for clueing me in to the white elephant thing. Anything else we should know? Buying & selling stuff, got that. Bring a dish to pass, I take it? Let me guess, a thousand and one different ways to make eggs?

DKV, yeah, we're kinda cruise from you, but not too bad. And don't stress. Half the time I can't spell Mukwonago either!

So how did you ever discover you had Lyme's anyway? Your hubby sounds like mine. Can never find a darn thing in the garage, or anywhere, for that matter. Sssshhhhhh!!!!!
Oh, I'll take one of those Amish farms too, right next to yours.

Our, what did you call it, Amyable? Our very own CCC. Love the pic. Looks so relaxing.
French, so sorry about the chick.
Ms.Frizzle, that roo story was a riot! I can just picture him running up & down the tennis courts.
I had that cougar in my yard, or at least had a cougar, about 4 or 5 days before he showed up in Chicago. He sure tried to do a number on my rabbit cage. Good thing DH built it like Fort Knox.
Awwww, Raiquee! We are just going to go for the day, if we can go, on Sat. Maybe we can carpool it.
I'm in Vernon too, off Edgewood. We've probably run into each other at Walmart.
lol.png

No problem, Bigz. I can't see straight half the time either, and I really get some of you mixed up on here from time to time. Like I said, just ignore me when I get confused.

Ok, think I covered everything. Time to get out & enjoy the sunshine! Haven't seen it in sooooo long. Have a great day, everyone!

Dandelion Acres posted on Facebook a few weeks ago that they were moving due to a job transfer. Don't remember exactly where, maybe N. IL? He's selling the whole flock and coops.

Hello all! Glad to hear everyoneś taking advantage of this wonderful weather. I still have my herbs to get in, and some tomato plants...oh! And the onion sets! Okay, further behind than I thought.

Iḿ getting a lot done indoors today, though, which feels great. My three year old and I have thus far today made yogurt, butter, cookies, bread, and we´ve started on the soup for tonight--Iḿ having French onion and the kids are always for the chicken noodle. I also got a text from my dad (he owns this house) saying that a new furnace is coming on Friday, so I have to clear out the back room. I don´t even want to go down there. But at least it will be done...there are a lot of outgrown kids´ clothes, some stuff to put on Craigslist, and unorganized holiday decorations. I guess this is extra good because I won´t have to worry about repacking things for when I move in the fall.

I´ve discovered that all of my calling around to get this chicken ordinance passed has put me over my minutes for the month. I still have a week to go before they reset, and the vote is next Tuesday! Not enough time, not nearly enough time!

Celtic, short version... got bit by tick, pulled it off and forgot about it, other than when showering and noticing it didnt' go away... week and 1/2 later start feeling really crappy. Thinking I'm getting anemic again, go buy vitamins, iron, etc. Few days later start experiencing shortness of breath, like trying to breath through cotton balls of something and a strange ache under ribcage. About 2nd day DH insists I go to er, after shortness of breath increases. They did, chest xrays, checked oxygen levels, all that and every heart thing short of angioplasty and open heart surgery and found NOTHING. Nuculear (sp) stress test amazed doc, mri or whatever they did showed no problems, had migraine that night in hospital...kept telling them about tick bite, finally when everything else looks good they send infectious dis. doc to see me. He refuses to give me antibiotic without waiting 4-6 weeks to see if antibodies build up in blood. Totally ridiculous, but whatever. Home I go.. and wait, and wait... meanwhile, develop strange rashes, no energy, develop ring and rash around bite site, which is refusing to heal.. start having dizzy spells ( have low BP anyway, this has only made it worse). Still have the lesion.. but it's much better and should be gone soon. He kept trying to tell me today it's normal for tick bites to last this long and it was probably infected. I know what infected looks like, no sign of infection and I've never had a tick bite do or look anything like this one... god I hate doctors! Sorry, I was shooting for the short version.. failure.

Rai, glad you got a break today to do something fun!

Amy of course we must have goats in our village! They are sooo much fun in addition to the milk.

Dr H I'm sure you weren't excluding yourself when speaking of "these bad naughty people", now were you?
lau.gif
I'm thinking you might be more like the ring leader.
gig.gif

He definitely sounds like the ring leader! No doubt.
big_smile.png

Yes, goats and cows! Sounds heavenly!
DK1, that sounds horrible. I feel so bad for you. I have the low blood pressure too, and get bouts with anemia, and it is no picnic, I know. I can't believe I haven't gotten that, since the ticks can be insane around here. (My chickens don't eat them!) Sure the heck hope I never do get Lyme's, or anyone else, for that matter. Yikes!
You can really get some duds as far as doctors go. My hubby sure has seen more than his fair share.
sad.png
I hope you find a better one up here. When ya coming??????? Thank you for the info, BTW, and I don't mind the long version.
smile.png

Movers loading us up on May 31st, we'll probably take our time and be there in 3 days as the movers won't have our stuff there that quick.

dkvart, FL is not in the 'tick belt' is it? Were you up here, I think most docs would have jumped on the cause right away, after you mentioned the bite. Or maybe a vet...our dog had Lyme's last year. I was pretty sure he had it, described it to the vet tech who agreed, they ran a test and had pos results in 15 minutes. Maybe you should consult a vet instead.

Veteran hatchers, questions. One chick is out; found it pushed to the corner of the nest box, stuck it back under momma hen but she dragged it back out and pecked it. I took it away and put it in a box under the heatlamp in my brooder. It perked right up and is active. Apparently she is a good hatcher but a terrible mom? Should I take the babies away as they hatch? I really don't feel like checking throughout the nite, should I remove the pipped eggs and put them in the brooder before I go to bed? I'd be ticked to wake up to dead babies. Blasted hen.

That first chick is from my orange EE, either Ancona or Blue Ameraucana dad. It's black with a white chin. Cute as a button. Be a girl.

Amy, if this is the hens first hatch, then she is prolly trying to figure what's up. I would keep a close eye and see how it goes. Some broodys figure it out after the first peep and are good to go. She might be a great broody yet...good luck.
