Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Oh my! So much to comment on Im going to forget some one!

Carol-good luck with the job interview! I might have some spare chicks left over from the seminar. Technically they are not mine but I'm sure I can get what you need since I'm the one brooding them for the seminar and the store ordered lots of extras. There are Cornish cross meatites( S.R.), Barred Rocks (pullets), Buff Orps (Straigt run), California Whites (P), Americana/EE (S.R.) Production Red (P) and some ducks Peking and Kahki Campbells all S.R. Man I think I'm missing some one....
I have not forgotten your question on the Mill tour. I'll get the address for you. There is a Culvers right off the i-90 in Edgerton and I'm, looking into reserving the meeting room there to have everyone meet up before the tour. I have a call into them so I should know more today.

Goats...who had the bloat question.....Raimnel!! Bloat is a condition brought on by over eating stuff they should not be either eating or eating to excess the stuff they can eat. Like say horse sweet feed, chicken feed, goat feed, grains, etc. They get lethargic and their abdomen looks swollen or...bloated. They act very uncomfortable as the intestinal gases build up. The bloat must be relived by inserting a tube down into their stomach and giving pain medications along with Pepto. It's been a long time since I have a goat that bloated. We took him to the vet hospital to have our treated since Chopper was a butt head to treat at home. As far as formula-I'd stick with one formulated for goats mainly for the correct nutrients and digestability. It's been a long time since I've had to look at a milk replacer label but if you want to, let me know which ones your looking at and I'll take a look-see.

Amy- I think I like your sittin' spot better them mine! But I think I beat you on being able to control the bugs better in mine!!!

Jim- nice to have you back!

DrH-Ring Leader/instigator=Same Thing Mawhaahahahahaahah!!!

Dooner-cant wait to see pics of your coop!

I too loved Second Hand Lions! It is a great movie. Funny story there. Dh and I were in the theater see Sea Biscuit. There was a gentleman sitting next me in the isle seat on my left and dh was next to me on my right. Anywho, on comes the movie trailers and the one for SHL comes on. They show that part where they old men are fishing with a shot gun. Dh and I start to laugh hysterically. I say to dh..."Look honey! That's your Uncles!! Only they use bangsite to fish with instead!" The guy next to me just shrank into his seat and scooted over as far away from me as he could get. Sat that way through the whole movie. I swear watching that film with him is like seeing his relatives lives on the big screen.

Ok off I go, I have to make more brooders for the babies, they need more wing room and I have to go earn my dog walking money Chat later!!
Cheers!

Dr H You can pull that tree over with a strong rope.. Tie a rope as high up on the tree as you can get it.. then tie the other end to the base of another tree in the general direction of your notch. Now take a second rope and tie it at about the center of the pull rope.. give yourself a llittle room to the side and pull on rope #2 at a 90 degree angle to the first rope.. You will be safely out of the way when the tree comes down.. and you will not believe the power you will be exerting on the tree..

MLH now I gotta see that movie
lau.gif
Jim physics is weird, thanks for the advise but you know what they say about giving a man enough rope! I can see that tree from a couple of windows

Hoping that I get woken up from a nap by a loud crashing whaawump othervise I have vays of dealink with it. Too iffy for tying a rope up high thinking of renotching above with the limb saw, might be able to save the original bar that's around 25 years old. I've cut a he!! of a lot of wood with that saw and am rather proud that it's still the same bar. So if it turns out that the bar is history well I got my moneys worth!

Our GSD boy is very protective, he charges the door when someone knocks. Watched many a caller take a step or 3 backwards. Kinda annoys me that he does that, BUT I do not worry about unsavory characters sticking around. Who needs a security system when you have an 80-lb bag of teeth?
tongue.png
I just saw a sign with a silouette of a shepherd, with text above that said, "I don't dial 911"

Good news on the broody, 3 more hatched this morning and she accepted them, so I stuck the first 3 back under her, and all is well. Whew! One egg left, I think its a quitter, but will leave it til tomorrow. Hen broke one egg in the first week, so 6 out of 8 is pretty good.

Dr H., you do not have to climb the tree.. just get the rope up as high as you can push a loop with a stick.. 8: 10, or 12 feet..

at least you might free the bar.. I would be leary about notching it again.. but you might have done that before.. I am not a lumberjack..

I just sold 3 guineas.. I think a male and 2 females.. they were the black ones that I didn't want anyhow.. I still have one black male left.. he will make a fine kettle of soup..

the lady might (will) be back for a couple of laying hens after she "clears it with her husband"...she'll be back.. LOL

Annie is in town buying me a wheelchair... I want to make a two wheel garden cart.. much easier to push than a wheelbarrow.. I hate to see her work so hard.. LOL

Hey all!

You guys are all terrible about your salesman people!!!
lau.gif
But see, this is why we get sold crappy meat from a meat truck!!
smack.gif
Cause we are a bunch o suckers in this house!! Dh always talks tall on how hes gonna get the guns out with the Jehov witnesses come to our doorstep, but instead he stands there, listens to their speech, takes their flyers and tells them to have a good day. lol. Hes such a tall talker!

Well I got some stuff in the garden done yesterday...and learned a couple things too (for your amusement):

1.) Never spread half-decomposed duck poopy straw while in flip flops. No matter HOW CAREFUL you think you are going to be, it's going to end with duck sh*t between your toes.
2.) Never throw said poopy straw into the wind. DUH.
3.) When your back hurts, call it quits. Otherwise everything you do tomorrow will hurt.
4.) That bee you just hit with your hand while flailing, will come back and kill you later.
5.) Maybe you bit off more you can chew with the garden this year. Just sayin'

I'm really learnin' how to become a farmer!!!

DH worked until 630 yesterday. Sheesh...6:00am-6:30pm, my poor hubby!! Hes sooo tired, but part of that is his lack of working for a year and a half. Well, I better run outta here, I have a TON of laundry to do...

Well....

To make a long story short, the "interview" was a bait and switch.. I should have realized it when she called at 8:30 at night...
She said they were a subsidiary of Cut Co... the cutlery/ knife company... and lo and behold the position I applied for was filled.. but they had a
straight commission door to door salesperson position open.. then proceeds to want to sign me up for their seminar/training session.
I said that I couldn't do a straight commission job, and that I had set hours that I had to work with my other part time jobs. She said that because I was such
a professional (she said to dress in pro clothing for the interview and bring a notepad to write notes on), and that I had my own vehicle.
That I could get started for free, I could do "coaching" sales pitches to my relatives and friends and those would be my first sales...

YEAH...

somad.gif

SOOOO NOT HAPPENING.
I thanked her, and said if she needed a receptionist, or an office person that I would be more than interested to interview for those, but that I don't
do sales, that I had no experience in it, and that my background was of a more professional nature.

Jiminy crickets... grrrr

Carol

Oh, BL4, I am so sorry to hear that. I sure wish they would have taken that into consideration when they were sentencing him.
And I really hope you are feeling better. Allergies stink. Nice egg, BTW.

Good luck, WCC!!!!!!!! Fingers are crossed!

Cindlady, could you maybe rent an RV if you can't find a cabin/motel?
OMG, DK1! You are a riot! Head cheese is yummy. Shall I bring some to the bash?
lau.gif

Love the stories about the dogs & salespeople! Too funny!
kristip, I leave mine open too. Sssshhhhhh! And somehow I don't think some men will ever truly appreciate or understand chicken math. Good luck on the rummage. Hope the weather is ok for you.
Deep breaths, DrH. You just be careful with that tree.
Amy, congrats on the broody & the chicks!
Rai, you've got me in tears!
lau.gif
Hope your hubby can relax soon.
Ugh! I've got to do laundry to do too. And I should be out trimming. When's spring?

jvls, gonna keep that in mind for the next traveling salesman

I've been reminding DH of the deer up there all week, since we rarely ever see them here in Florida, they're here, I see them in the forest behind our house all the time, just seldom see them anywhere else. Years ago a friend of a friend was on his way to work one morning.. hit a deer, called tow truck, returned home for his other car and... yep, hit another deer, talk about bad luck!

Dr H be careful with that tree stuff... I'm looking forward to meeting the ring leader! Hope you get your bar back (whatever the heck it is!)

Amy, glad your broody is doing a good job now! I don't call 911... love it, might have to find one!

MLH - gosh you're lucky to have free entertainment in the family! M80's work pretty nicely for scooping up the fish too (had an idiot husband, once upon a time.... had being key the word - gave him back to his family after 6 months)

Raiquee

love the list of what you learned today! OH, I love messing with the Jehovah's witnesses. Once they arrived about 4 in the afternoon and I invited them in for iced tea... let the carry on for about an hour, then looked at my clock and said..."So how many folks do yo think I've saved from being pestered by you today?" they never called on me again, I can't imagine why. Telling them okay you can share your faith if you'll listen to mine.. and telling them you're a communist seems to be effective too.

Celtic uhhhh NO
sickbyc.gif
still one of those things I have no desire to try, but thanks for thinking of me.

Well had more energy today than I've had in weeks and no upset tummy, yay! Actually got a lot done and will do more after dinner. I've felt so bad that DH has been on the road working his fanny off for 3 weeks and now dealing with all things house related - we didn't like the side by side fridge, so he got new one, switched out stove for a gas one, got new washer and dryer delivered, got new living room furniture delivered (he picked it out and won't send me a picture, said it's a surprise.. but did say something about zebra striped chairs really setting the sofa and love seat off - and I don't think he was kidding!!!), and new bedroom set for DD. Had the propane tank inspected, poor guy will be exhausted by the time he gets home Friday. And I've not managed to get 1/2 of what I wanted to done due to feeling so crummy. Feel terrible about it, now trying to catch up!

Which I'm sure would be easier if I weren't sitting her reading everyones adventures!

Well everyone seems to be having a busy and interesting day so far!

Had one of the 5 month old Andalusian cockeral volunteer for my crockpot this am- went in to check the water and he decided to attack me-got me with his beak right across my ring finger knuckle, right where you can't put a band-aid very good- anyways he felt the toe of my shoe but is now on the cull list. Won't let the kids in that pen for now-just happy that one of them wasn't on the receiving end. Probably should go re-check waterers as some where low from this am chores.
