Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good Morning Everyone! Amy that has been mine and the BFF's song for a very long time. Don't know why just is. Cool on the gosling hatch Jim! Dooner I'da knocked him down and took all the schrooms away. I love morels that much, just sad that they don't grow around here. TO that tree is gonna feel real good next winter. It has some nice big branches that'll go a long way to filling in the shed.

Got a lot of the top cut up on it yesterday and hopefully will get it drug out, bucked up, and split today. But I was told that I'm way late on getting the boat ready so that's first on the list. Might go tomorrow morning before it rains. Got a mirror and looked in the Flycather nest yesterday 4 of the cutest lil eggs in there. Bigz the tree next to that one is even bigger it's about 2 foot in diameter. Gonna get that one down too. And then call a guy who used to borrow my splitter. He built one that tilts up and it also splits in both directions. His nickname was WhoHaas, the other day was thinkin about it and came up with the name WhoHaas super collider for his splittin mochine! L got a pic of Peatwo on my lap yesterday will post it when I sit down again. Enjoy the beautiful day!

I FINALLY got my flower beds planted yesterday. Woo hoo
ya.gif
! I've had the flowers since Mother's Day and just couldn't take seeing them on the porch anymore. I'm not much of a gardener, that's DH's area, but I have raised beds that wrap around the house and that's where I'm a happy girl. DD even helped with weeding, except she accidentally "weeded" the poppy's, lol.

Neighbors pretty much stink. I wish we lived in an area with no neighbors, but still close enough to civilization. Is that too much to ask? Our house is pretty much in the country, but still have neighbors around us. A couple months ago I busted the neighbor kids throwing a softball at my rooster. Boy was I mad! Went out and let them have it AND took their ball. Ha! I showed them.

Anyways, have a great day all! We have DD's preschool graduation tonight with ice cream sundaes served afterward. Should be fun!

Cindlady, just texted DSD and reminded her to get the info on the company and will definately get it to you as soon as I have it. Hope there is a facility near your friend, it would be a great job, I think and the pay isn't bad at all! From what I understand you can pretty much choose your shifts they are so desperate.

Dr H, always loved that song! Now it'll be stuck in my head for days!

Frizzler, yeah, neighbors can sure be a pain. For the most part I've generally been really lucky with having decent neighbors. Years ago it wasn't so bad, but these days it's a real crap shoot for sure.

Hope my new ones are okay

and won't give me grief over a few chickens.

Well, off to airport to fetch DH. He's gonna be one exhausted man... and forget who said it, but I'm SURE the chairs are zebra print just as he said. He doesn't trick me on things like that most of the time and when he told me he had that nervous laugh... LOL, it's okay with me... I've been known to decorate rather oddly at times myself. My daughter told me I need to paint a nice big zebra painting to match the chairs, not a bad thought!

Hope everyone has a marvelous day!

Nice to see all of you are finally out of bed.. I am ready for a nap already.. I woke up at 5AM//

we have new neighbors just across the corn field from us.. about 200 yards away.. My birds have been known to visit the previous neighbors, but they never minded them.. The new neighbors were warned previously to buying the house.. But now I noticed that they rototilled a section of their lawn up for a garden.. That might cause some concern.. The guineas are the most likely to visit and they are not scratchers like the chickens are..

My sister has been doing ASL for 30 years.. She took in foster children who needed it.. and she also went to the local Voc Tech college and went from class to class with students .. did that for years..

One time she was invited to help at a seminar in a town about 100 miles from her home.. she went and did the interpreting.
She had to sit around and wait for a couple of hours until she was needed, and then the interpreting took only about 10 minutes.. when it came time to get paid, the people paid her for only the time she was actually interpreted..,,no mileage, or wait time.. she did not even cover the cost of her gas.. LOL

Never too old to learn, eh?

Got it! Chalk it up to a lesson learned.

Ok, ok. You guys proved me wrong. I guess I will not try anything once. Sorry, JV, I don't think I will be trying tongue stroganoff any time soon, although I'm sure it is tasty.

Sorry to hear about your goose eggs. The duck up in the rafters still has hers, I hope? Or was that the abandoned one you mentioned? A 60% hatch isn't too terribly bad considering everything those eggs had endured. Congrats on the turkey & gosling.
smile.png

Thank you for posting the pics, Raim, and your goats are sooooo adorable!
So that was everybody that came to the bash last year?
Dooner, electric fencing does wonders for keeping unwanted varmits, and unwanted neighbors, out of your yard. And I hear they have solar powered ones too.
TO, so sorry to hear about your call duck eggs. What a bummer. And I found a link for you, or BL4:

DrH, you just take care of the tree you already got down. That bigger one can wait. Can't wait to see your new pic of PeaTwo.
Frizzler, that's terrible. What bratty kids. I hope you went & told their parents about it. I would have kept their ball too.
Ah, peace & quiet! The roofers must be on lunch.
I put the little ones out in the "critter compound" yesterday, fenced off from the big 'uns. They were quite the "chickens" too, especially when they saw the rabbits!
lol.png
But they eventually settled down & were having an absolute ball with all the new real estate. Room to run! Room to fly! Room to run & fly at each other! I did have to go out there at 10pm last night & shuck them into where they were supposed to be sleeping though. They were all huddled together on the floor. Stupid chickens.

I hope everyone gets to enjoy this beautiful weather!

Afternoon All!

TO, BL4, DK1, CD-and to all the rest who mentioned blood sausage, tongue, head cheese

and such..... all I have to say in this....there are some things in life I really wish I could unread!

Raim-your goats are so cute!! Total cuteness overload!

DrH-cant wait to see that picture of Peatwo!

Jim-Alerting the Two Legged Security Personnel to danger when nothing is around is in Chapter 16 in "Worthless Chicken Tricks. A Chickens Handbook". I just had mine do the same thing. The neighbors barn cats are either mouse hunting or looking for a place to have kittens. I really really need to find the plug for that big neon sign that says "This house is currently cat less ...Apply within....."

So I'm glad to report that other then the Cornish that I lost the other day, I have not lost any more babies. I'm very glad it's Friday. The seminar is tomorrow and they will be gone!! Yeah!! I'm so done cleaning brooders!

Buzzy is doing well with her new friends. She is happy to have other peeps with her. I have a heat emitter in them at night and dh said that he has to turn the kitchen light on because they are afraid of the dark.
roll.png

I also have learned something about baby pheasants. They are a horrible influence on baby chicks! The little fuzzies do every thing Buzzy does. They run and flap their little stubby fuzz covered wings in an attempt to "fly". Usually they are taking off right after Buzzy does. She gets up some serious speed and turns in time to avoid the tank walls, not so much for the chicks. They splat on the glass. Turn around shake it off and charge off in the other direction with stubby fuzzy wings flapping madly. So I have a line for a song I'd like to share with y'all. It's set to Willie Nelsons "Momma Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys"
*coughs and clears through*...."Momma don't let your chickies grow up to be pheasants...."

Well, I'm sure I have to go do something important, what that is I no not....chat with y'all later!

Afternoon all! Got you beat jvls I was up at 4:10... usually up between 3:30 and 5:00, don't know why, just am. Yeah, DSD said that the lady from the relay place said most folks steer away from court interpreting even though it pays well, because of so many law suits claiming things weren't translated correctly because is wasn't translated word for word, which is impossible in ASL, since it doesn't work like a common language. Guess it pays to have like a 2 hour minimum you are paid for or something in a case like your friends.

Well, saw pictures of the chairs, they aren't zebra patterned, they are close though! very pretty acutally, he did a great job!

AND he said he didnt care if I wanted to go to the bash! I'm not sure if he'll come, I'll try to get him to come, I think he'd have a great time, but we'll see. He may just take his daughter and her friend to the water slide park that day instead, which I know he'd enjoy. Yahooo! I get to meet you crazy people! (and I mean crazy in the nicest way possible!)

Now for my funny story of the day... I get text today from Oldest DD (who has twin 4 year old girls) it reads as follows: "Apparently you and Maya share a passion. We stopped by petland last night to play with the puppies. The tears that ensued when Maya realized they didn't have CHICKENS was ridiculous!" I've never mentioned chickens to her, she saw them ONCE at a petting farm... seems I have an ally and a tiny chicken addict in the making!!!
gig.gif
Guess I'll be seeing a lot of them!

Anyway just wanted to let you know I'll be attending the bash on Saturday!! I'm SO EXCITED!!

Holy cow you guys shut up! How do you expect me to keep up? Oh I get it, you don't want me to.

Hope that worked you'd think after a couple of years I'd have this down but guess I don't do enough pics to member it. Seems it was a had to be there thing. I was and it was as cool as always! He's such a good boy! MLH just love when their testing their wings, it's so much fun to watch!
lol.png
Dang you! Momma don't..... Silvia's mother said..... Turns out there was a heck of a lot of things that needed tending to on the boat that I bought last year [knew there was but forgot..] so no wood made today. Still have a couple of things I want to do to make the boat right. Turns out that L wants to go rumage salin instead of fishin tomorrrow AM, hope she finds what she's lookin for

BFF is off tomorrow, expecting a call to go for crapeye's again. Jim ya must have been up late again, slept till 5 huh? That's my normal wake up time, gettin light out better get movin! What another glorious day! While workin on the boat watched and listened to the sounds of spring some more! Now have Ode to Joy in my head! Way cool!

i'll try typing a line or two.. I have the newest member of my growing flock on my lap.. turkey #16 I think.. somehow a couple of turkeys got soaking wet in the brooder.. I put them back into the hatcher, but I don't think they are going to make it..

I turned the gosling and duckling loose this morning.. the gosling finally attached himself to the 4 Sebastopol geese.. They were more than happy about that.. I will lock him up for the night, and let him loose during the day..

The duckling is afraid of everything that moves outside.. LOL I figured he would buddy up with the gosling, which he did, until that HUGE monstor of a gander walked too close.. LOL eventually he will get too tired to run and settle down..

CelD the duck in the rafters still has her eggs.. the abandoned nest was on the garage floor..

Annie found a nest of chicken eggs behind a pile of old windows under the lean-to.. Those barred rocks are the worst offenders for hiding their eggs.. the eggs are still good because the barred rocks were let loose not that long ago..
