Good evening! Dooner--My DH says, "I squirrel hunt back here a lot--I would hate to have someone get hurt!" I guess I would get a wire up and NO TRESPASSING signs up immediately! You need to divide the woods if half is yours and half is his! Morels are worth something and not too many people share!
Got Jim's Blue Ameraucanas outside today...what a bunch of CHICKENS! Then didnt even want to scratch in the ground! I need to go and put a light bulb in there inside place so they go to roost. I left the 2 week olds in the basement. The eggs that the call duck was sitting on are a bust. I am so sad...One of the last ones was a quitter and the other infertile. Dont know what is going on--she was tight to the nest until yesterday...guess I might also be taking some new call ducks BL4!

Glad you werent taken in by the tree DrH! Good thinkin'! It will make a TON of heat for ya! Such a sassy tree!

I have ducklings hatching!!! The nest that had that guinea (that I should have snatched when I had the chance) is the one with the babies. I am not sure if the duck or the hen will take the babies off the nest. Maybe tomorrow I will have more to report.

I WILL NOT miss the bash! You guys are way too important to me! I WILL be there if I have to hire someone to take care of my stuff! So---no you are NOT off the hook BL4--you MUST make the cover cake even though I will not be able to partake! Or you could make it way more complicated and make it Gluten Free too! (no I do not expect that) See--I sent the CAKE BIBLE to BL4 because she said she had always wanted the book....well there was a copy on my shelf that I had only used once (and my dog got killed, while I was baking from it, so I never cooked from it again) so I sent it to her with the intention that she would make the cover cake for the bash...then I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease....so there you are! (if you can follow that!)

I got all but the ducks in tonight.. the goslling is not happy with his new digs.. he calls to me all the while I am out there.. I didn't know he bonded to me that much.. I hardly paid any attention to him.. makes me feel almost guilty ..

I can hear a gosling in the bator.. can't pinpoint which bator, though.. I think it is just a pip, but I don't see it..

had a few random eggs hatch today, a turkey, guinea and a chick..

I moved the Americauna out to the brooder in the coop.. there was an immediate confrontation from one of the older chicks, but as soon as there were 28 new chicks in there, it must have been too confusing for him to continue..LOL

good morning all, woke up to a couple of chickens and a rooster giving their "something is really bothering us" cackle..

grabbed the 22 and went out to check it out.. nothing around.. either it ran away, or they were lying..

I let all the coop doors open ,, the chickens were so surprised that I did it so early, they stayed on the roosts... LOL

made coffee, did dishes, and now here I am..

the second turkey is hatched, but the gosling is at a stand-still..
I might have to give him a little assist.. the humidity is a bit low for geese in that incubator..
