I just set 27 guinea
and 7 Uko kei eggs.. the hens are free, but they still go back to that pen to lay their eggs..

6/11 is going to be a big hatching day around here.. guineas and UkoKei

The barred rocks moved their nest.. I told Annie to leave one egg in there.. but...... Now we have to search for the new one.

T O , what do you feed baby parrots? Tiny crackers? sorry, that just popped out.. I started out seriously.. I'll try again.. what do you feed baby; parrots ? that didn't sound just right either..

Evening All!

TO-In one of your posts you mentioned eating Dryads from your stump....by this I'm assuming you mean mushrooms or some other from of fungi and NOT fairies? Right!?!

Frizzler- those turkeys are adorable! So tiny!

Finally the chicks and ducklings are gone gone gone!! Loaded up the babies early this morning for the 2 hour and 30 minute drive to some place in Ill for the seminar. We actually did not speak seminar like at this one but helped gather chicks for people and answer any questions people had. We got tons of questions and I had loads of fun! They store sold all of the chicks and ducks except for the majority of the Cornish Crosses. That was to be expected though. When we got home I cleaned the waterers and feeders and dumped the shavings from the brooders but I need to clean them out. I'm exhausted! It has been a loooooong day!

I'm happy to say that Buzzy and the Buzzettes as my dh calls them, are doing great. The Cornish Cross is hilarious! He runs and hops around like a normal chick does but he looks like he's wearing diapers. I have to admit that for something I had no intention of wanting nor liking, Buzzy sure has gotten under my skin. It's been really fun watching her grow and interact with her brooder mates. It's been fun to watch her brooder mates act like something they clearly are not!
It is funny, the chicks out in the yard, my Orloffs, Barnies, PR's and such are slowly getting names but the Buzzettes all have names except for the smaller Barred Rock. Something about this group has stood out from the start. There is Buzzy, and Tallulah of course. Then the Cal. Whites are Dorothy (Dot to her friends) and Barbi. The Cornish Cross is Cornelius (or Cornelia), but the littlest Bardie is needing a name. I'm tossing around Daphne.

What else...for the first time in like forever, I got 2 eggs from the banties! Yes 2! Emma the Light Cornish (not even remotely related to Cornelius) laid an egg today! Her ears must have been ringing since I was speaking today about processing her worthless hide! She has not laid and egg in months. I was begining to think she forgot how!

Other then that, not much else. If it's not raining tomorrow, the dh and I are planning on plating the garden and I need to mow-yet again....

Got home from Nationals, holy cow did you guys post!

Skimmed/read through everything, but if I missed something I needed to respond to my humble apologies.

Got 79 Iowa Blue eggs in the mail from 2 sources to set tonight. Darn it, I'm going to have my flock of them yet.

The 4 chicks I have left are growing nicely (along with the other 8 other breed chicks).

Got the incubator stabilizing empty, dry, letting it settle out to an even temp.

Hi again everyone! Boy you guys sure do talk!! I had to read about 10 pages to catch back up. Glad to here everyone is doing well and all the pics of your birds are wonderful. Doc- Yeah I know I'm here just wandered off for awhile, but will check in more often. Where is FM? Hope all is well with her. I'll have chicks for her at the bash if she still wants them. Bigz-that hummer is beautiful! WOW what a neat picture. Hope everyone's hatchings are going well. My chicks from last month are getting so big, I'll have to post pictures. Also the pheasants are huge! I just can't believe how big they are. The pen my DH built is great and they seem to like it. Been busy, but softball is over for the girls, so that's one thing off my plate. I'm still plugging away at school, can't wait to be done. I haven't even had time to plant my garden yet, all though we did have frost at the beginning of the week. Hopefully the rain will hold out and I can do it tomorrow. Well I'm off, DH is finishing up mowing and yes I know it's after 10. Not enough day light hours. Later Tators!

Well I am home alone, had a bath, watching stargate universe on 3.2...
And churning out fictional space ship information from a PDF file to a word doc for hubby..
one my rare talents- touch typing, i can look at what is on the screen and type what is there, with a fairly low error rate...
Hasn't done me a lot of good job wise but handy for transfering info from a protected PDF file to a word doc!.

Jim sounds like your yard cart is well planned out. They are so handy for many things. Yes dk he's my boy! But you dasent call him beautiful at least not to his face. He likes being called handsome!

I would have to have an awful lot of morels to share, who am trying to kid I'd share. Bring Emily along she'll have a good time! kee glad ODrH gave you a heads up hope that's what your looking for and you get the job!

Bigz how are the eyes coming along? Hope you can get your garden in soon! Had a very lazy day yesterday didn't get much done. Doesn't look like we'll be adding any crappies to the freezer today either. Think It'll be a good day for garage work, there's only a couple of million things to do out there.

I've been providing transport and other support for DD who has had a huge ballet production she's performing in this weekend, but I did get a major cleaning done on the duck house--as long as we are talking about bird stink!

Have my fingers crossed

that I can get half my garden in today while working around the performance. It will be nice to relax after and get in a nice meal!

Oh BL4 what a cute little ducky! Makes me want them so bad! If only I could figure out where to keep them in the winter and keep the smell and mess down. Maybe a project for next year. Doc- glad to hear that FM checks in. I too was thinking about how many have "moved on to greener forums" LOL Well today I am going to get the garden in and my impatients. Sun is suppose to stay out until this afternoon. I'll go down and take pics of the pheasants to share. Have a wonderful day everyone!
Oh and I heard that yesterday was just judgement day and that 6 months from now we will all be served out judgement. I don't read into that stuff, but thought it was funny how people change as soon as it didn't end. People are just weird.
