Good morning all!

= my breakfast again this morning!

My favorite! So crummy about the rain DrH...I knew I shoulda gone out right away when I got up...it is pouring down here right now. THis is the only problem that I have with the new coop areas--they dont have their food inside so I really need to let them out so they can eat! The ones in the big coop have everything they need and sometimes I would let them out when I got back. I guess I will have to come back here before walking the dog today; or maybe I can talk DD19 into letting them out-yeah, that's an idea!
I had so much to say and now I got a phone call and my mind went blank!
Frizz--I wish I had all my plant beds in (or my garden even) I did start weeding out the fern bed. MY Asiatic lilies that share that bed were getting overrun! I think I will transplant some of those ferns to the side of the milk house for erosion control. Anyone ever move them after they are all unfurled? Also if your doe has her babies they sure wont be cuties like chicks are! More like fat sausages that wiggle!
bun.gif
Sometimes my does (first timers) would have them right on the wire and they would wriggle themselves through 1x1 mesh! Never did understand how they did that!
Dornes...what you need to do is feed your DH some brown eggs without him knowing that they are brown...of course he wont be able to tell cause there is absolutely no difference in the taste! Well, maybe the brown shell tastes different than the white one but I am assuming he doesnt eat the shell!

Where is your place? I am sure there is someone close to you that could provide you with a roo when it is time! LOL
Hey Carol---ya shoulda told me that you were going to see SFolly! I need some of her quail for my girl! I have not had any extra time to do a drive!
AACK! Speaking of time...I need to go off to work--the shopper didnt buy enough stuff for my menu so I have to stop at the grocery before I go it...woman does NOT know how to run a pantry!
Later all! Terri O

(PS) Hey Jim--try putting on some of those nylons...bet you will be able to figure out how to make em run without even standing up!!! THe eggs I cant help you with...

Frizz- I did remember that was her name and the other was buddy? Right? Well she has gotten fat since I got her. The boys have to stand on her back to try and get their buisness done. So we decided to call her sausage. I'll have to take a comparison picture. They are both doing well and our favorites by far. Cheapie does fit, all winter she yelled at me to get her fresh water when it was frozen.

Ok off to do chores. Have a great rainy day everyone!

Terri - I just took his complaint that I didn't get any white egg layers as he wanted me to have more chickens right off the bat! It has taken me a good 5+ years of begging and pleading to get him to the point he is now to allow me to have some chickens on our property! And I was under strict orders that they were not allowed to be near the barn. (dairy farmer he is!) So, in the back yard they will go... it was just my good excuse to order 8 more chicks from the hatchery! lol

I am located near Tomah/Sparta. Small community about a half hour from either city. Norwalk... not many have heard of it so it is just easier to say the area

I am sure I will find a roo somewhere! I was thinking of possibly scooping one up at the Monroe County Fair this June... I am sure some 4h-er will have one available for sale!

Rain... pfft! I am off to pick up my coop today, it was damaged in the tornado that hit Sparta on Sunday. Kind of looks like a pile of shambles right now, but all the walls are in good shape, it just needs to be reassembled. I will be sure to get some in-progress pictures. For an 800.00 coop I got it for 150.00 for a pile of rubble right now. All amish sawn pine - the lumber is worth more than that! The guy has extras for me if I come across any that are busted, but when I looked at the pile of shambles, it sure didn't look like much needed to be replaced. All studs are still intact and not broke either! Lucky me! A nice 8x8 walk in coop! I am hoping the rain stops this afternoon so I can go out and start getting it back together! It sure is cold out there though today, I have the fireplace going! Hoping my chicks come today so that they can get settled in their brooder.

Anyone in the Wisconsin area order from Meyers? It says my chicks were shipped yesterday, and will be here tomorrow... just wondering if you have, how long it has taken to get to you. I am hoping they will be here today, 2 days seems like a while for them to go without food or water...

Coop question: can I have water only in the run? That means when the pop door is closed at night they won't have access to any water. I am also thinking about using those auto water cups, does anyone use them? Imsee younhave to order five at a time, anyone want to go in with me if I order them because I don't need five.

kee congrats again on the ordinance passing! I'm curious as to what your venture is...

TO on the 31st the movers will be here to free us from this evil place! We figure we should arrive around the 3rd. Won't have the new pup for a couple of weeks, DH wasn't able to get fence people out last trip so that's 1st on our list. And it's about a 500 mile round trip to pick him up, so it'll be a couple of weeks before we're ready to hit the road again. Gonna bust behind to get settled in as well as we can by the following weekend as my kids and grandkids are coming up for my birthday on the 12th. DH said I don't have to run out and find a job until mid July so I'll have plenty of time for working on the yard and visiting]!

and of course coop building, which isn't at the top of his list, but it is at the top of my list!

Dornes, yeah we tend to be a gabby bunch
roll.png

MLH glad your little chicks are doing better, peep gymnastics tend to get out of hand unless closely supervised!

Celtic, yeah, feeling much better for the most part, every once in awhile feel a little blahhhh, but doesn't last long and nice to be getting some energy back!

Becky, think it was you that posted the pics, very nice. Pretty horses and fowl! Love the heavy duty critter proofing at the bottom of the cage.

Well, got the garage all packed up today! wooohooo!! now the only big thing left to tackle is DH's office... could use a dump truck and end loader for that! How he ever find anything in there is a wonder. This weekend we'll start breaking down the computer
sad.png
(I'm not even going to try to catch back up here when we get it set back up!) and TVs, stereros, printer and al the other gizmos and gadgets. If landlord would quit sending folks over to see the place we'd be doing a lot better... told them we are not showing it anymore, since technically our lease isn't up until June 30... they'll just have to wait...

after making us go nearly 2 1/2 weeks without AC when it was 95 here they get what they get.

Well off for some dinner... have a great evening all! Oh asked DH is he wanted to come to bash, he said he didn't know (making plans with him is beyond frustrating since at the last minute he'll choose to do something else... but he did say he could dress up as a chicken if he comes... LOL... told him he'd fit right in!

Rainy Frigid Afternoon All.... Nice gesture with helping out the neighbors Doc. Were you allowed to keep any of the wood? Sometimes folks will let you keep the wood for cleaning up the mess
idunno.gif
Amazing how much wood can be cut with that many saws cutting.

Congrats with the win Kee. I think the law should of been passed permanently. Hopefully you will be able to change it in the future.

Nice pics Beck!

Thanks dk, No scar tissue so far, that's the key to the surgery being successful. 2 months to go yet to be out of the woods.

My double brooder has two 4X8 sections. I removed one wall today to give the 8 week old peeps the full 4X8 space....they are loving the extra room. I'm gonna prolly have to figure out a way to fence a area off in the big coop for them to grow up in. One never has enough space it seems. Can't be the math can it?

I thought for sure you were gonna keep a few javas Jim? I suppose you could hatch more, eh. Havin a genuine Draft...made me think of you. Looks awful tall in the longneck version. Must be my vision.
I'm lazy and don't feel ike startin a fire...milkhouse heaters sure feel good though.

THANK YOU for all of the congrats, guys! The work is only picking up from here!

Dooner, I will be sure to let you know when we have something decisively scheduled.

dkvart1, I want to start an urban farming store. I have a partner and we're planning stuff but we do need the financials.

Keedokes, Congratulations.

I have a quick question. I have caged birds, they have a lot of waste seed, Would it be ok , if I sprinkled it on the ground for the chickens?

thanks

David
