next.... cabbage family.

Hmm... strawberrys are poison to your chickens... then mine are the backwords chickens because they love strawberries and hate bananas which everyone told me they loved!

We got our first strawberries from our own little patch yesterday. I think after all the nibbles, we had about 2 dozen they picked and ate with more to come. They were so sweet warm in the sun- Yum!
Now I have to work on de grassing/weeding the veggies in the garden. They are planted... but the grass and other stuff is taking over and I am not sure what is what... need to mark them better. It is all the weeding that takes me forever. Wisht he chickens would do that for me, but they eat the good stuff out and leave the weeds... smart little buggers!

Carol- if you guys need anything- just holler. We are just down the road a bit and would be glad to help! Feel better!

I keep hearing about all the fun with the bash so you better take pictures and post for those of us who cant go!

MLH I've seen that look so many times from dogs. They lay there lookin not makin a sound till you say or do something. It's play time! Have had both those cookbooks for a long time, the BC's pages are falling out. Have adjusted several recipe's to my likeing. Just can't remember why you would suggest them to me? But suggested reading to anyone!

If I were there the dogs wouldn't get any of that pie. WCc that sucks! But thought of how the mere mention of company gets a person to straighten up things.

Dornes that is so cool about the lil Hamburg think you have a new friend! Think the DH knows how to butter his bread. Dooner I gave myself a buffer when I referbished the shed into a coop two weeks. It took me two months

Managed to get the biggest load of wood on the trailer of the year. Thought I was gonna have to make 2 trips but I got it. Took an hour and a half to unload. Love the progress in the shed. About 3 rows to go for this years hinder warming material.

Beautiful Evening All...another lap to Green Bay today. The Doctor said I'm not out of the woods yet, but pleased that no scar tissue has developed so far...A load off my mind today

The road is good coming in on 156. Once you guys hit the stop sign at c-vill, turn left (the city is small) when you hit the 4th stop light turn right on 45 and go about 3 to 4 miles and turn right on knitt road...you are go to go then!
Jennie stopped and let the birds out for us...she is the best sitter. The little ones are doing great. I've been around chickens a long time, and the buckeyes are the hardest to decifer their gender...it's hours of watching...and trying to apply what the rules are for each. It's the big legs and feet....can't tell by the combs...can't tell by the tail...gotta be the big heavy legs and feet....

You know what they say about someone with big feet...

Of course I know who's who

good afternoon.. it's a windy oneout there,. really dries out the garden.. I talked to my mechanic friend.. He said my battery has a dead cell.. get a new one..

The tractor started so I took a chance and hauled 55 gal of water to the tomatoes.. then I took another chance and hauled the second 55 gal to the tomatoes.. It balked when I tried to start it so I quit taking those chances.. I did get all the tomatoes watered, though.. tomorrow I will do the cabbage family.. a nice rain would do it all for me..

I am thinking of coming to the bash.. I would like to make ho-made pancakes for breakfast for whoever wants them..
BUT./...
Annie might have to work Fri night, so that might not work out. She doesn't get done until 10AM saturday if she works.. I will have to stay with Mom , then.. Unless my daughter does not have to work, and she can cover for me..

Annie saw a mall rat jump out of a feed bag.. so she is busy setting out treats for it to eat.. I hope it does not die somewhere in the house.. I think it is living under the porch..

Brent, when you get the gender of your buckeyes figured out, you can come and give it a try with my guineas and turkeys..

take it easy with the eyes.. don't go fishing, cause those big ones you claim you catch will put too much strain on the eyes..

........jiminwisc.......

I made the BEST home made chicken curry yet!!
On a side note we love curry, I have curry powder on hand, 5 spice powder.. basmati rice... cuz we luv us some curry!!!
I made the basmati on sunday, we hacked up our lungs and blew our noses to chicago and back yesterday so were in no way able to eat anything but sandwiches.
So I got the last of the vanilla coconut milk, added re-hydrated onions (didn't have any fresh), and the chicken. Let it sit and "stew" for a while.
I then added some milk and water chestnuts, 5 spice powder, cajun seasoning, garlic salt and another Indian cuisine spice.
Now we didn't have any other veggies you might normally add to a curry.. so I put up green beans on the side.
I had to take about 1/4 of the original sauce and froze it for future use. I added more milk and POOF..
YUM YMUM!!

I wanted to add..
HURLEY or TO...can you bring back a cuckoo hen or two for me.. I LUV them!! and their eggs.

Nothing like a row of wood to admire....I can sit and look at rows in the basement and tell you what tree it was alot of times....ahhh the good special times in the woods! I'm eager to get workin for sure.

Yep, come one come all to the bash.... It is wheel chair accessible at camp. I failed to mention that before...sorry for that. Folks that want to learn a little can...others that know more are still gonna learn a little....It's the best time for all! Besides great food and conversation that lasts a whole year!
