Hi All,
I've been "lurking" but faithfully reading all the posts. Maybe next year I'll be able to make the "bigzio Bash". We also show dogs, and between Dog Shows, taking care of animals and working full time there just is no time left. I was wondering if someone could post:
1) Any up-coming "Swaps" or Shows
Also
2) A step by step explaination of the procedure to showing Chickens? Does the APA have anything like this on-line?
Now for the bad news...Yesterday I lost my favorite Pullet, a Salmon Favorelle named "Tsa Tsa", she was just 10 weeks of age. A few days ago I noticed just a few poops that looked Bloody. Everyone seemed just fine, so I didn't react to what I thought might be a bowel cleanse. Someone sent me a link to all the different appearances of Chicken Poop and they do shed some of their intestinal lining during the year. Anyway, Thusday night I noticed one of my Buff Orps looked "mopey". I brought her into the house and syringed pedialyte into her beak. The only thing I had was "Tylan" powder, so mixed up a batch in water and gave her that. Friday morning she looked worse. When I opened the Coop door, all but the Buff Orp came running out, so back in the house she went. I left for work, then decided to take off about 1 1/2 hours to get some "Corid" from our local large Animal Vet - Berlin Vet Clinic. While I was at the Vet my family called to say that my favorite girl was dead in the yard. I have her in a shoebox and will bury her in a few minutes
with the others (per previous posts from BYC Forum) I've de-wormed with Ivermectin, and have them all on Corid, plus raspberry Koolaide, in their drinking water. So far so good. I think the problem was the Coop/Run that has a shade cover over it, so it's dark plus this is the third set of youngsters in this area since March. It certainly sons like Coccidisosis, and maybe worms? I can't believe how fast she went...and didn't appear sick?
Who offered to send me a "Bigzio Bash" T-shirt? Let me know an address and the cost of shipping and I'll send you a Check - that is if there are any left?
More later
I promise to post some photos.
