Where are you located? I saw a post on MWT today that was kind of disturbing and kind of made me sad all the same

Here's the link..... hope it isn't your puppy... http://bb.mwt.net/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=113&topic_id=68003&mode=full&page=

What about the club for us youngin's that might as well be half blind, deaf and feels old run and ragged? Is there a club for that... because I would sign right up!

Man it is a humid one out there tonight. I got all the chickens cooped up and the ducks in their separate area in the coop. Chickens didn't seem to fond of it, but it will have to do until I get my other coop ready to go. Hopefully I can start on that this week, if this humidity ever goes away. Oh, did I tell you that I come home with two guineas? darn poultry math....

I'm sorry, I thought I checked into the Cheeseheads thread, but it sounds a lot like the old geezer get together! LOL, you all are too funny!

FT if you go to the bottom of the page to Show Your Posts then to Wisconsin Cheeseheads it should have (show new posts), should take you to the posts since your last visit.

Goth, so sorry to hear about your puppy... hopefully someone will find her. Murphy escaped this morning as my daughter and her son were leaving. Everyone spread out to find him and I got the van (the only shot at capture is to spot him and tell him we're going for a ride!). He made it about 1/2 mile up the road, exploring all the yards on the lane. DD and her son (who renamed Murphy Gary the snail from spongebob were up ahead walking down the road, her calling Murphy and the little guy calling Gary, it was hysterical.

Jim I forgot to mention that when they resided the shed they just sided over the old window opening on the side of the shed facing the street, so that should be easy and was going to pick up a small window for the other side. Don't know who mentioned it, put epoxy on the floor would sure be a good idea! Am going to fence along the side of the garage up to the corner of the shed to start and eventually extend it toward the back yard so I can see them from the back patio, not much point in having them hidden where I can't ever see them. I tried to explain to DH and his daughter today how entertaining they are but they aren't believers.... yet.... So with any luck I should be looking for chickens soon! FINALLY!!!

Well, off to bed... and praying for rain, which it appears is going to miss us yet again! Getting tired to the constant watering, which doesn't come close to the rain we really need...

Night all!

FT, aren't you subscribed to this thread? They send you an e-mail telling you there is a response(s) to the thread along with a link. Click on the link & it'll take you right to that last post in the thread.
And, no, you won't get an e-mail notice for every single post that everyone makes. Hope your AC starts working again.

Goth, I am so sorry to hear about your puppy. That is so sad.

Bigz, if you do have that surgery in Aug., I wish you all the best.

Amazingly, I actually got a lot accomplished late this afternoon after slacking off most of the day. Ok, not totally slacking, I did get a couple of loads of laundry done & put away, & got the flowers & tomatoes watered earlier. It finally cooled off a little after dinner, so I went out & weeded one of the gardens, again. And spent entirely too long snipping dead leaves & spent flowers off two of my hanging baskets (petunias, grrr).
DH had finally tilled up a spot for the new veggie garden a week or 2 ago so we could finally get the pepper plants in the ground. Since the ground was still somewhat soft, I went & lined it with that plastic "chopper" edging. I had 2 boxes of them sitting in the greenhouse for a few years that I picked up at a thrift store for $1.50. I almost had enough of them to get the entire garden surrounded, but was 2 pieces short. Oh, well. It looks somewhat nice, for now anyway. Just way too small. I so miss my monster veggie garden.

Sweet dreams, all!

Evening All,
Tired, tired, yucky hair, and tired.
I was up early got chickens and horses fed, then off to clients to do some stuff there (and give birthday gift advice).
Then call the person who got Zeus to set up the move time, got home and got stuff I needed, started to make breakfast when she called saying she was on her way with her
trailer. So discussing it, my barn owner had given me a young mare, I thought I still owed on her so had assumed that she was not mine yet.
I was wrong in a good way.
Well talking it over with Zeus's new owner (who has chickens, but is not on BYC yet-tee hee) we talked about moving my two mares to keep Zeus company.
But with three horses plus her new one.. that might be too many for her RIGHT now... So DH's mare went to keep him company.
She got to see goats, then pigs (up close) and then from a distance 3 cows which are on the property.
Then it was home, back to the barn to get a portable pressure tank with air in it for the tires on the hay wagon which was done on Friday, to take back to the barn
to start to unload...
Grabbed DH, which was good since I needed his help as it turns out to get my truck off my horse trailer, (STUPID hitch would NOT come off the ball)
then drive Vvvveeeerrrrryyyy slowly 6 1/2 miles!!
Then pull it up.. INTO the barn hay mow... go home collapse.. then go back when it cooled off a bit a little after 7, go throw 40 bales, stack them and do it again
tomorrow with the other 54.
Repeat until we have enough till next June., UGH
Baby chicks are fine, no more deaths, or weak or ill looking chickens...

I do need one or two newly hatched ducks anywhere NEAR madison that I can stuff under my mallard hen...
STILL no sign of things hatching...

good night
Carol

Hello, everyone!

Despite being on BYC for some time, I've never managed to mozy over to to a meet-and-greet thread. After far too much procrastinating, I've decided to poke my head in and say hello!

After a random, chance meeting with a wonderful BYC-er in Real-Life (MLH), she convinced me to head over here and introduce myself!

I'm known online as Breac, but I also go by 'Anna' in real-life. (Though I'd prefer Breac for any online conversation.) I've been keeping chickens since 2005, and I still have many of my original flock! I keep a wide assortment of chickies, including Barred Rocks, Easter Eggers, Silkies, a Vorwerk, some turkens, and a very grumpy old Polish roo! They, along with my six turkeys, are my joy and passion. To me, these birds are pets and friends. To see them all come crowding together in the run when we drive up never gets boring.

So, anyway, I thought I'd head in and say hello to all my fellow Wisconsin chicken enthusiasts!

How are you at Math ? There is a prerequisit (sp) to be on the Cheesehead thread you know. If you know MLH then I'm sure you qualify !!

Are your turkens LF or bantams? I have the bantams, I love those little shavers !!

Dr.H... Congrats on your new arrival!

Glad it's growing for you!

Jim... Too bad about the guinea. BTW... what color are the light grey keets suppose to wind up? Or are they mutts? And the chipmunk marked ones too? They are doing great and this week get moved to the small coop with the other chicks I got from you. Oh my Kenny got his peacocks!

What did Annie say?

Hurley...Happy (late) birthday baby T!

dkv.... Nice memorial to Stanley. I think that shed/coop will work great! When you plan it out don't forget storage space for feed. You probably won't want to go to the garage every time you feed. Hope what ever your DH has, it's not too bad.

good morning, I woke up at about 3am with a loud crash of thunder.. then it rained for awhile ..
I am waiting for the coffee to get done .. and then I am going to go out and get that old hay spread over the tomatoes..
I hope the garden is not too wet to walk in..

the guineas are called turqoise.. I was told.. not mutts.. I always called them light gray..

It was Annie's idea to get the full grown peacock.. she even paid for it.. Ken came out smelling like a rose on this one.. He was really thrilled when he saw the peacock in the pen.. No hole in the carpet, l;-)

later............jiminwisc.........
