Glad to hear the new dog is doing good !!!! If I'm not careful I'll be getting a new dog, thanks to you !!!
No, just kidding about the slap !!!
But I've been looking at all the pet ads on craigs list since you were looking !!!
Found several poodles I'd love to have !!
But can't do it now !! Someday I'm going to get another poodle or two that needs rehoming. I
Poodles !!!
Hello, my name is Sandi and I'm addicted to and love Poodles and Small dogs !!! HELP !!!
Goth, I hear ya on where to put all the chicks !!!! And I ordered and hatched mine planning on keeping them !!!!!!!
I have 10 more guinea eggs in the bator due to hatch around the 25th and that is it. Other then some silkies that I am letting set on eggs. They are from my new lavender Roo so I want to get some chicks to ad to my breeding stock. Plus I have a buff silkie hen in with a white showgirl roo, hoping for some unique colored showgirls.
Thundering and lightening here but I don't think it is raining very hard. ET said it will just make it more humid tomorrow !!! I'm going to hang out in the basement later tonight I think. Air is only working so so. Condenser is freezing up so we only turn it on for short periods of time. poor Butt dog. She is panting alot. to bad she can't strip down to nothing like I'm doing these days !! I'll have to shave her real close.
Hope ET makes it back in, he is out feeding horses and big huge lightening is striking !!!!
I hate lightening, have heard way to many stories of horses lately that have been killed by it. And I live up on a ridge and there is a huge elm tree in there lot !!!! They killed it so we'll have to cut it down, but even still....
Well, time for some ice cream !!!!! Stay cool everyone !!!
Well yet another busy weekend on the books. 1 client went to his DS's wedding, w/ DW, SILx2 + 1 spouse AND MIL and his youngest DS and grand son...
So I fed his horses since thursday, giving lessons on friday and then this morning, running to two farms to feed horses, goats, cats, and my chickens....
Then ran to TO's to get te three ducklings I am getting ready to stuff under my white mallard.. I might send her packing with the male call duck (he is tiny) IF she
doesn't accept these ducklings...
DH got a new pair of shoes, got his car washed, I fed horses and now am going to run to get his car gas too... are we having fun yet??
Ok, I had it backwards. The American mink was imported to Europe for fur farms and now are displacing the native European mink. I heard once that our mink were originally brought from Europe, but that was incorrect.
BBP, you might possibly be thinking of the marten? The beech marten was from Europe & was brought to N. America for a fur farm and are now living in Wisconsin.
Gotta love Wikipedia! The Beech Marten (Martes foina), also known as the Stone Marten or White Breasted Marten, is a species of marten native to much of Europe and Central Asia, though it has established a feral population in North America.
The beech marten is present in Wisconsin, particularly near the urban centres surrounding Milwaukee. It is also present in several wooded, upland areas in the Kettle Moraine State Forest, and in nearby woodlands of Walworth, Racine, Waukesha and probably Jefferson Counties. North American beech martens are likely descended from feral animals which escaped a private fur farm in Burlington during the 1940s. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beech_Marten
I am glad to hear that you released it rather than doing away with it even though it killed one of your birds. I applaude you.
good evenng,, lost signal to the TV because of the RAIN !! what a nice surprise.. It came straight out of the north.. preceded by a pretty strong wind.. we opened all the doors wide and let the cool breezes in.. unfortunately, there was also the smell of a dead animal on the evening breeze.. The wind does not usually come from the North or East so there must be something in the corn field.. probably my hen turkey and a half dozen chickens..
It didn't rain long or hard, but a little rain all over the garden is better than my watering just the tomatoes..
We have martins in the woods around here.. we always called them Pine Martins.. They are native.. and the DNR in all their wisdom re-introduced them a few years ago.. They can run through the treetops and catch squirrels.. They also wreck havok on nesting birds including wild turkeys and quail..
Annie made a batch of cherry jam with the cherries she picked today.. she had a quart left over so she bought a bottle of brandy and I made some brandy cherries.. I guessed at how it was done,, but how wrong can you go? as long as we were doing cherries, I brought out the jar of vodka cherries I won at a picnic.. the cherries are quite bleached now, but they are vewy vewy tasty.. (Elmer Fudd).. Mom did not care for the one she tasted.. she choked a bit.. I think it was the surprise of the booze..
she did like the cherry jam on ice cream,..
Annie got the pie crust made,, going to finish making the raspberry pie in the morning for breakfast..
the goose did hatch out that one duck egg.. It is still under her and she still has 4 eggs left.. if they are not hatched by tomorrow, I am taking the eggs away..
I have a guy coming in the morning to pick up a rooster and a few hens.. He wants eggs to hatch.. I told him I would loan him the small flock.. I don't have any empty breeding pens to segregate anything right now..
see you in the morning.. AP After Pie jiminwisc........
I like the people who come to buy keetss, and then ask, "how much for that goose, or that duck etc etc" they are not for sale.. the ad said guinea keets period, dot,. ..............................got it??? LOL
Deb, sorry I forgot to respond to you. I'm getting more scatter-brained every day it seems. Anyway, if I were you, I don't know who I'd smack first, the DH's "client", or DH. Who's bright idea was it to even introduce your DD to hers? I definitely would NOT be letting that woman enter my house, I don't care who she was.
MLH, congrats on the baby! Hurley, good luck with the dog shows. TO, congrats to your DD, & glad to hear your birds aren't sweltering. H&R, I do not envy you or your birds having to go to the fair in this weather, although maybe the birds will enjoy the baths in this heat. Jim, so sorry to hear about mama turkey. That's sad. Poor babies, but at least they are ok. If the goose bites, how did you get the egg under her? Do a little dancing?
Oto, glad to hear you're done with classes for awhile. DrH, you're absolutley right.
Of course we missed you, FT! Think of how bored we'd be with nothing to read all day, and all night, and....
Just joshin'! I understand the "poof goes the entire reply" problem. While I do not post in bed, I did have a few times where my response, lengthy ones, would just disappear. I think it has something to do with these laptops? My pinkie must have hit something, and "poof"! Gotta love technology. Now I sometimes type up my response in an e-mail, which automatically gets saved as a draft every few minutes, so even if it gets "poofed", I'll still have some of it. And glad to hear your tooth isn't giving you grief anymore, & hope the tractor is fixed. Yes, we go to Townsend, and no, we didn't get to stay long.
DH had band practice on Sun. But we had a good time anyway. And we'll be back soon. Couldn't you order that fence online & have it shipped, or doesn't FleetFarm do that? I don't have one around here.
Awww, Raim, I'm so sorry about your duckling. He was so sweet. I'm hoping the other 2 stay healthy for you.
Shanti, congrats on the upcoming wedding (no stress there, hey?) and the new stalls! Your duckie story made me laugh. She has you trained well.
GC, glad to hear about the dog, sad to hear about the ducks, figures about the people who you have to deal with. I wonder how some people make it to adults? Wish I would have known you still had so many chicks. We stopped in Manitowoc.
Glad to hear some of you got some rain. It is terrible down here. I was trying to water the tomatoes & flowers this AM before it got too warm. The ladies were pretty warm today, running in & out panting away. They did dig some holes, and I gave them some frozen water jugs, but they didn't figure those out. The rabbits did, though, in seconds. I sure hope this weather heads back south soon. Try to keep cool, everyone!
Jim, don't need the vicadin with those cherries, hey? And for you: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Marten
Hope you survived the storm. I was out on the deck and out of no where came these huge gusts of wind, felt nice until I heard cracking of big trees around my house. It was dark so I have to wait a few more hours. The power then went off at 9:15 and came on at 2:OO something. Now gonna take the dogs for a walk before it becomes too hot for them. cool spell 72 degrees with a 92% humidity. ICK ICK
How many people now days even heard of a Norge? oh... wait I had one! guess that makes me old too!
LOL Good luck on your project!
FT.... New cart... new fencing.... working tractor ... your on a roll!!!
I took my kids to Marquette to have their teeth done worked out good for them. They wouldn't do mine because I needed too much done.
Jim... sorry about your Turkey... I thought you found the chicks? or were they with her? Those cherries sound like good medicine for your tooth!
Raim.... too bad about the duckies....
Shanti...
on the wedding!
GC.... if you were closer I might try to sneak 6 in.... but sorry not worth the trip for either of us. And I told hubby I would quit...... for this year.

I think I know the "offending family"
Some of you gout RAIN?!.... I want RAIN!!! It tried here.... but didn't even get the deck covered, just a few drops.
Well, most of the chickens though hot, panting and walking around like they got sh!t under their wings.... seem to have done OK. They haven't quite caught on to the frozen jugs yet but I'm sure they will. I even put one by the nest box. The problem is, 1 or 2 days they can handle..... I'm worried what's going to happen by the end of the week! I did bring "Tiny" (the one in my avai) in last night. Went to check on them and I heard her rasping.....hard. She's had it for a while and I wanted to put her on meds. but put it off. Last night the rasping was so bad I was afraid she wouldn't make it. But just bringing her in helped. I'll get her on the meds. now. Wish I had the $$$$ for AC in the coop!
We may be getting another dog
A friend/acquaintance of DH is expecting a baby and are moving to a bigger place. They can only have 1 small dog where they are going, and they have a smaller, older dog. They got him from a rescue and I don't know much right now except he's a larger dog and 5 yrs. old. I said we can try, but it depends on how well he get's along with Duke, the cats and the chickens!!! I do hope he works out. Maybe Duke could use him as a guide dog!
What would be great is if he would guard the chickens! I have an OL friend that has a dog that sleeps by the coop. Ain't nothin' gettin' in there! His name is Ruphus.
