Morning all

, got out into the garden early this am and worked to try and get things picked- we pulled onions to make pickled onions-DH and my brother like them, picked pickles so we'll be making dill pickels today as well. My SIL is coming over this afternoon after my brother(her DH) goes to work and will help me get them processed. Picked yellow beans but will have to go back out and pick the green beans- I can only be outside so long and once the sun comes up and starts warming things up -I'm done

Also took our lawn mower out and cut down weeds and peas(they are done for this year by me). Squash plants are atleast 3 ft high- good thing the zucchini plants are on ends of the row. Pumpkins are growing out into the rest of the plants, found them in the beans....

MLH- DH was doing some reseach into generators, we have talked about getting one as well- I'll have to ask him what he found out. BTW- my kids want to say thank you again for coming to the Dane Co small animal meet sale and purchasing a turkey from DD!!

Sorry I didn't have alot of time to visit, they never seem to have enough helpers and so we try and pitch in so things move along better.

TO- you should go out to the Welsummer thread and post what your results were from showing your 2 Welsummers at Jefferson.

Our Ameraucana pullet from the same group as the one you got, MLH got and Hurley got isn't laying yet either but her comb is getting pinker so probably pretty soon. MLH- what is the egg color?

Off to do some paper work and work on some doors that need to be re-stained for several units.

Hey Goth, are there any family/friends nearby that can lend a hand? Have you thought about painting that changing table? It might be the only way to salvage it, by sealing in the smell. DH had to do that to a bedroom floor in his first house, stupid stupid cat.

Oh, and now one of the house cats is peeing on the carpet of my craft room in the basement. Gonna have to rip it out.

This is why I say NO MORE HOUSE CATS!!!

Well managed to give myself a migraine headache this am, pushed my luck outside in the garden this am so now I am having to take things a bit slower today

Forgot to put it out with my earlier post that we have a few chickens to rehome, as we are making decisions on who is the best to use going forward. This is what we have currently and they would be good additions for a laying flock or as flock protectors:

1-partridge bantam cochin- rooster- just over a year old-he is larger than the standard calls for
1-partridge bantam cochin-cockeral-hatched this spring and he seems to getting larger than the standard calls for

both boys seems pretty mellow- these are my DS(9)'s extras and they are use to being handled

1-Welsummer rooster- just a year old-he would be good flock protecter material as he is off in his coloring.
1-White production leghorn- cockeral- he was an extra for raising one of DD's Andalusian chicks
1 Blue Andalusian laying pullet- she ended up with bent toes but would be great in a laying flock

we are asking $5 for each chicken if any one from BYC is interested, we will probably list them on craig's list as well.

Amyable- I might try painting the inside with Kilz. Hopefully that will work. I'm just ticked that it wasn't even my cat and she hasn't helped or paid for anything. I agree about the house cat thing. Mine are all fancier and 2 are declawed so they could never make it outside, but if I lived in the country I think almost all of my animals would be outdoor only. The husky would be the only one allowed inside until he starts causing problems.

Today's a pretty good day so far. Woke up and was craving donuts sooo bad so I got DH up and me, him, and DD went for a short walk (about 2-3 blocks) to a great local bakery. I made it all the way there and almost all the way home before I started feeling faint and the contractions started. All in all it went pretty well.

My grandmother is over today to help clean my kitchen. With the dishwasher on the fritz the dishes started to stack up because I cannot put my hands in dirty water without throwing up. It will be so nice to have a clean kitchen.

Gothchick... hang in there and dont be afraid to ask for help. Bedrest sucks, I was put on partial bedrest at 24 weeks with the twins and full bedrest at 30 weeks. Friends came over and cooked and cleaned for me and I was ok. One friend came over with her one year old and brought be books and magazines every week.
Where are you at- can any of us help in any way. And I beleive they h ave a special kilz designed for animal pee... or maybe it i just on packaging... but I know I read it somewhere.

kristip- Thanks for the offer! I live in Manitowoc. My main issue right now is keeping up with garden, fruit trees/bushes, and getting the duck pen set-up. I tried to do some gardening today and almost passed out. I really need to get the duck pen set-up because the baby will be here in fall and it has to be done by winter. Right now I have them in a small cage/pen that is about 4 feet by 3 feet but it isn't big enough for them when they are adults and it isn't snow safe. I plan to find a dog house and use that and then get a kiddie pool and just put up a 3-4 foot fence. My actual yard has a 4 foot wood fence and we have a big dog so predators aren't a problem. I shouldn't have to worry about the ducks flying out either because they were pinioned when they were babies.
