HWMP that Friz is BOO the one that is afraid of his own shadow and that I was chasing through the poison ivy last week to save from a big dog. Then I find out Boo is up at the coop and I am waist deep running in ivy patch looking for him.

I am really glad DH is at the races (LaMons race--I think--Elkhardt Lake) for those that wanted to know...I now can listen to the radio in peace and NOT the game! I am a firm believer that the season is WAAAAAY too long....(sorry guys)
Watit hangin'...MICE killed your chicks? I have heard of rats doing this but never mice...are you sure? Scary!
BL4 nice to hear you are alive

I am glad you saved that snake! I sure wish there were more around here so they could eat the mice! Actually though; since I used the newest mouse bait last winter I have not seen any mice or rats around here!

Loved that! So what kind of lizards? We really dont have them here in WI....salamanders? I have a bunch of those in my well pit....can you describe them? I would sue be interested!

I guess I have procrastinated long enough....I MUST unload that hay and go to the mill and pick up my order. I love that they let you phone it in and then it is set out on the dock for you....I guess it is because they arent open on Saturdays...I am meeting a man in Watertown tomorrow at 7AM with a wagon of hay. I am soooo grateful that he said he would drive it there so I wouldnt have to take a wagon through town! Now I just have to see if I can find an open receiver hitch...or get the ball off of mine! (prob not a chance!)
Good night all...have a spectacular weekend! Terri O

((PS) Manybirds...might be interested in some Sumatra babies....

Well the horse for new client is at her home, she is happy, and he will have the name Dudley Do Right...
We stopped at the barn before going to get said horse and I had a young fluffy chick hatched, and wounded from my nasty hens...
I stuffed it under the bantam cochin and her broody assistant the frizzle polish... Checked on it when I got back and out to feed horses, still alive, not sure what to do about the wound.
It isn't so much deep as the section of skin/fluff missing OR stretched out/back seems pretty big...
That one hatched in the middle nest box, I put most of the other eggs from that box under the cuckoo maran from Hurley...
I have another one pipping and zipping from the dual broody nest so I moved them and the plethora of eggs to the safety of a large cage along with injured baby and zippy/pippy, food and water.
I will check the others in the a.m. sure hope I don't find empty eggs... and no chick... that white rock from KristiP is a cannibalistic hen...

I purchased large squares of hay from the neighbor, paying a little more than I want, but he will store them till I need them, and I will get the equivalent of 20-21 bales and it equals about 3.50 a bale.

I am going to take the duck and duckling as well as two pairs of silkies and a few mutt chickens to the monroe swap.
Just not able to breed them and have them set on eggs...I will try again next year.

Just an FYI to those that have my phone number, its a cell so PLS text OR email me. I seem to be out of minutes but can text and go on the net for the next 3 weeks.. I know, makes NO sense what so ever...

L8ers all
Carol

TO maybe 3 inches kinda dark(maybe greenish) with a stripe(maybe orangeish) on each side and very quick. They were cute what I saw of them but dont feel like putting my hand on one. Not yet.

We have lizards in WI. Prairie skinks and Five lined skinks. The five lined has a bright blue tail. I was out hunting for snakes with my kids the first time I caught a prairie skink. They are pretty neat. I see the DNR has a map of what counties that type of skink has been spotted in. My county isn't on that list. Hmmmmmm, maybe I need to contact them. My mom has a healthy population on her property.

Edited to say I did some research and WI also has a prairie racerunner.

Sorry Carol... there was a reason we called her Thor... does she need to go to that swap too. She does lay nice big eggs... it is her only redeeming quality I think...

Nahh, she is a nice hen otherwise, and lays good eggs.. yum yum...
It wasn't just her, although she was funny smooshing herself on top of Floopsie or Lulu (who ever was sitting on eggs) to go and lay an egg...

Well off to sleep,
Carol

Julie wants to help you with the duck situation, at least if there are any half-grown females.

The broody Ancona has 3 pips tonight!

Glad I checked. There is a very strong odor of skunk outside so I moved her and the eggs to my broody box, and got pecked near death for it. Candling veterans: what does it mean when I can't see thru the egg at all, even a white one? No air sac, just dark. Rotten? Throw far far away ASAP??
