Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Superior is 200 miles Northwest of you.

I went camping near Minocqua first week of October when it was 70s during the day and 40s at night.

Great location, thinking about retirement there in 40 years.

Hey FT, Where up north do you live? Anywhere near me?

Also had to jump on this for a favorite beer sake...

SPOTTED COW

I live in the township of Nashville, nobody knows where that is. My zipcode is actually Crandon. I'm between Crandon and Pelican Lake. I know you are up there but not exactly sure how far Superior is ??? All I know is it must be colder up there !!!! LOL

vac·u·um  /ˈvækyum, -yuəm, -yəm/;adjective; verb, noun
1. a space entirely devoid of matter.
2. an enclosed space from which matter, especially air, has been partially removed so that the matter or gas remaining in the space exerts less pressure than the atmosphere.

Kris, hope things go well with the broody.
Deb, congrats on the new woodstove! As DrH said, there's no heat like one from a fire. Mmmm, toasty warm right to the bone!
Tiki, I can see why your hen keeps getting lost......She can't see where she's going.

Adorable little one. I can see why she's your fav.
We had BBQ spare ribs on Fri., Bigz. Turned out delish! Tonight was Italian chicken with smashed spuds & peas. Yum!
Yikes, DrH, glad the hawk missed. He was bold! We had a hawk land in a tree right in front of our house yesterday. And we were both right out there.
New Glarus sure makes some tasty brews, Ken.
An inch of frost, Jim? Wouldn't that be, like, snow???? You let Annie dig 25 feet of potatoes out? And isn't it "late for dinner"? I don't think there is much horseradish in the creamed stuff either. We buy straight horseradish & make our own cream sauce. I don't think the stuff in the stores is processed either, Jim. It is in a glass jar with a plastic lid lined with a piece of waxed cardboard. Maybe because nothing will grow in it?

It does loose it's bite after awhile, though, unfortunately. Hopefully yours will last longer if it is that potent. I think I would like to look into growing my own. Maybe I can kill or clear out my annual sinus infections that way, eh?

Henferno!

Sitting here talking with my 89 yr old aunt on the phone. I'm trying to talk to her more since she isn't driving anymore and lives alone. She is failing fast and is so sad. She has to get shots in her eye that has the glaucoma, she may end up having the whole eye removed. So sad.

So, anyway now I forgot what I was going to reply to !!!!

Loving my dishwasher !!!!! Should build up some muscles moving it around the kitchen !!!!! Oh, and now I know I"ve lost it. I have a showgirl rooster walking round and crowing in my livingroom right now. I brought him with me on my road trip to Racine, he was suppose to be delivered to the guy I got the original showgirls from but I never made it there. So I never put him back with the others because he spent time with all the chickens I picked up and I take my bio security seriously. Plus I was afraid if I put him back in with the other roosters now that they would fight. So I'm thinking seriously about getting him a diaper and having him hang out with me. Kind of like a designer guy !!! Anywone have a pattern for diapers ???
I think I am going to name him spike because he has long spikey crest feathers. He's sitting right next to Butt dog now. I'm watching closely so he doesn't decide to poke at her eyes or something but he is being a good boy !!! Or maybe I'll name him Sparky, looks like a sparkler too !!!

Sure I was going to go collect all of the apples under the trees, tons and make apple cider vinegar. Didn't do it earlier cause I didn't have the dishwasher to wash the jars good. Last night Chuck said that the deer have been eating the apples all night. Well today at about Noon I look out the window and there is a Big Doe and an older fawn eating them like candy !!! The guineas were flying and flapping all around them and they didn't budge, kind of tells me this hasn't been the first time they have had lunch here !!!

When we first bought up here 5 yrs ago they were always out there, every night but now there are horse pastures, goat pens, duck pens and you name it. They found their way around all of it. Guess they figure now that they ate EVERYTHING from our garden the apple trees were next. They got tired waiting for me to do something with them I guess. You snooze you looze to the deer I guess.

Now my dilema is, I have to cancel my dentist appointment and I'll be home when the trick or treaters are out !!!! I ate all of the candy !!!!
hide.gif
Guess I'll turn out the lights and make it look like I'm not home !!!
gig.gif

If they give me a hard time I'll just Egg em !!!!

Wow, I knew Superior was up there but not that far !!!! And I thought this was Up North when I moved here from Racine !!!

hi all!

Jim... I know, you had to "run" to get it!
wink.png
The house me mom was in for my first 5 years of life was built by Mormons, 1 BR, a living room, and a very small kitchen, no cabinets or running water either! 480 sq. ft. When my mom re-married she put in a 3/4 bathroom, kitchen sink and a few cabinets so she could rent it out. I still have that house! I was outhouse trained!

kris.... You could take the broody and her eggs and put them in the kennel. If she's true broody she wills just stay on the eggs anyway and not get up much. I feel it's safer for the chicks and the hen if the are separated from the others. JMO

dkv... Love the mini coop! And welcome to the wood burners!
frow.gif
We just got another load and more to come... DH bartered for part of it. Got more free stuff coming as soon as we can pick it up. #2 DS is splitting it so we can load it up. Good son!
love.gif
Do you have wood yet?

tiki... Glad you found you hen! Good girls should get treats! Just tell her not to make it a habit!

Cute pic! I like the wind swept thing going on!

KNA.... "poopy Head"

DrH... Glad you saved your girls!

FT... You have a house rooster?
lau.gif
The only kids we get here are the grand kids... and only 2 of them this time.
sad.png
Maybe you could give the kids hard boiled eggs! Paint faces on them?

H&R... Dang he has big hands !

Finally got the tomatoes done! Sauce, chunks and "water" to use in soups.
ya.gif
Now I still have some apples (I like the idea of ACV FT was going to do) and some concord grapes DH brought home.

Bed time... night!

Good Morning Everyone! Welcome!!! Henferno!!!! DAS think you've been on before but if not Welcome to you too! Cind it does sound like you have a good son! Must have raised him right. FT showgirl roo? Cool that HE and Butt dog get along. I've been entertaining the idea of a house chicken for a long time. We'll see. When they say portable they don't specify by who
lau.gif
Jim I'm with you on exact measurements. You reminded me of the canned veni recipe it called for a dollop of the soup mix. It turned out not to be enough so I changed it to a glop.

KNA your gonna learn not to tell us things like that. Poopy Head!

I remember the first time my ex and I heard our DD swear. She was trying her hardest to put a puzzle together and was struggleing with a piece and finally in exasperation said S**T! We both had to leave the room. It took a few minutes before we could re-enter to explain things. Still makes me giggle to think about it. Well that's about all I can remember for now. Plans were to go back in the woods today but.....

good morning, I had lots of comments.. now I will have to read through the posts again..

when my daughters son was about 3 years old she bought him an ice cream cone.. they started walking and he stepped off a curb and the scoop dropped off the cone and landed at his feet. He looked down and said S#!t My daughter said, "what could I say? he was exactly correct .."

I was laying in bed this morning wondering what to do with that small pile of granite that I have left.. I decided to bank it up against the house where the water from the field up the hill from us tends to try to wash against the house.. I have it sloped already, but I think a little more wouldn't hurt..

FT, when you cancel your dental appt. just explain to the dentist that you are going to be giving tons of candy to numerous kids. That should make him happy.. and don't forget to mention how much candy you have already eaten..

Frost in the ground.. Not frost on top of the ground.. like permafrost.. Yes, Annie dug all 400 pounds of potatoes.. She would not let me do it my way, with machinery.. I told her when I planted them that I was not going to dig by hand.. The neighbor offered to bring his digger and do it for us,, she turned him down also.. she chose to do it.. Next year I will have pitty on her and I won't plant as many..

Dr H, somewhere in this house we have an actual hard back cook book from long ago.. It has recipes in it that call for a pinch of sugar or salt, and smidge of this , and a little of that..

If I ever run across it I will send out a recipe..

I better go turn all the birds loose , and post this so TerriO can get in here..

.........jiminwisc.......

I just have to mention this.. I just received an email from the women in Winter with the bluelaced red wyandottes.. they sent me a photo of the hen and of that rooster who is so much prettier than mine.. For starters,It is not a Blu Laced red wyandotte.. and the feathers are all busted and mussed up.. beauty is truely in the eyes of the beholder..

it is a nice looking hen, though..
