Hopefully this isn't the last nice weekend. Hope everyone got there list knock down, of course not done, is it ever done?
I got the coop all cleaned up and ready for winter, canned a couple batches of venison, and we cut our last load of wood for the winter. We will probably do more, but it will be for next year.
Went to some friends for the packer game, that is always a nice way to end a busy weekend.
Back to the office tomorrow, finally construction season is done for me. Only good thing is back to four 10hour days, which I like cause it gives me friday to play around home. I want to take a couple days off, but supposed to rain tue and wed and I wanted to get some more leaves picked up and cut the grass for the last time, it has been a few weeks so it kind of needs it, plus the compost bin already srunk by half, yeah it's cooking.

Riding with TO was awesome!!
My horses were not as good as they usually are... Pride my DH's horse spooked more than she usually does.. and Indi my mare was a spaz. But the ride was a blast.
DH is having a malaria upswing, he got a mild case of it while in the Marines and he gets flare ups now and again. He started his quinine and it seems to be helping.
I am going to have to start my older BC mix on glucosamine to help her... sigh.. some day I will go a day with out having to fix, heal, or deal with some illness in some one or thing...

Well I am off to take my meds.. as my carpal tunnel is flaring up badly... bleh!

Enough pumpkin for 24 pies in the freezer. All the guts go to the chickens in the morning. My DW is making Pumpkin Pancakes in the morning with a big cuppa and lots of laughter with the kids before work.

Got to visit a family at the hospital this afternoon, premie babies are precious, but lots of prayer needed. Lots of hurting people trying to get a hold of me today... But I am resting, call me on Tuesday!!! If any of you all go to church, give your pastor a break on Sundays and Mondays, we are near quitting the ministry come Sunday Lunch and need time to rest. The best thing you can do for a pastor is take a hurting family home for lunch and love on them.

Spent minimal time with the chickens today, but the kids have done their jobs. Reset the timer to wake the birds up at 5am and shutdown at 7pm. While I like the idea of natural sunset for shutdown, but that would be at 5pm now if not 4pm in a month or 11pm in Summer.

I really like the support for chickens and life that we have here. One week left for my broody and we will see what happens... Do I keep the broody with her new peeps inside for a month or leave them all in the coop with the cold coming on? Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

Hi!

KNA.... It might not be piratical for you but I have/had my broody with her peeps in a small coop in the shed. When they were small mom could keep them pretty warm but the weather was milder. The last few weeks I put a heat light in there to help out. Others will probably give ideas too.

Not too chatty today I guess. Sure hope those who didn't show up today are OK!

Got some stuff picked up outside and stored away. I was going to put all my canning stuff away but found out DH took my spot for it.

Now I got to find someplace else for everything! GRRRR.

I took it all OUT of that space... where did think I was going to put it when I was done?

Cut up about 3 pallet and some med. branches for the fire. Did some other odds and ends too. Weird... I made sure I got a good long sleep but was so tired all day... too much sleep? Tomorrow I hope to clean coop but we know how that goes.

The guinea is holding his own... wish it was a bit tamer so it wouldn't spaz so much when I check it's eye.

Well, dishes to the dishwasher and then to bed! Night!

Really really want the girls to get back in the mood! Peatwo is starting to look more like a live chicken every day.

Nice to have the sun shining again today...DD25 says it is "the last day" and the rest of the week is supposed to be pretty chilly? Only says 32 here so I guess looking out the window is a bit deceiving!
Planning on moving the remaining quail downstairs today. I might band the ones outside and move them in too. There are only 7 or 8 out there anyhow. Alternatively I could move the cage into the shed and put all the quail in it. It is big enough...but that is a large undertaking involving cleaning out a space inside a shed for it. I dont really want them in the basement for the winter but then that is one less water dish to thaw...

YOu were right Cind--not too many posts to read at all! Maybe everyone is tired of this thread? Hmmm--I hope there is not some BS going on "behind the scenes" I hate that...

Morning all !!!

How come no one wondered where I was ?????

I was gonna post last night but fell asleep at 9pm !!

Well, on top of getting three more peafowl the other day I came home with the cutiest little boy black and white pony you ever did see!!! $50 He is suppose to ride and drive but even if he doesn't he is the cutiest little man.

His name is Giovoni, Can't even spell it may have to just call him Gio !!!

He is smaller then my Pony of America. I can just see my new little Grand Niece on him one day. My sister and I are really hoping she loves horses as much as we do !!!

So today is my last roade trip. I have to call the woman and see what time but I am pickin up a few more peahens !!!

If all goes well they will all be laying in the spring and the peacock I got last week is old enough to breed. The hens I'm getting today are pied. Maybe a white one???? Not sure.

Jim, congrats on the new addition of cockatiels, next come the African Grays, then the McCaws !!! I have one 20+ old male cockatiel . His name is Punkin, Punkin Head for short !! Or sometimes just Punky.

We got the pony from the same guy I got the peacock and peahen from in Mosinee. His bunny is gonna have babies any day. They are lop earred. His miniature pigs are due any day too. They aren't vietnamese (sp) but are a combination of miniature breeds. Cutier then $hit !!!!

He has a real nice pond that his neighbor dug for free !!!! YES FREE !!! Why don't I have neighbors like that????

Guess the neighbor got a new backhoe and asked if he could dig a pond. He was practicing.
The pond has a huge island in the middle. Ducks swimming all over the pond and sitting on the island,

I sure would be in trouble if I lived closer to that place !!!

Told him I'd probably see him in the spring !!! Chuck just gave me that look !!! On the way there he said after the new peahens, THIS IS IT !!!!

Oh WCC he said the poodles are older. Mother is around 12 yrs and son and the other one is close to the same. Guess they have a schanuazer (sp) too. For anyone that may be interested there is an old lady that is going into a nursing home that has to find homes for her dogs.
I just can't take on a dog that old. 5 or 6 maybe but one that old is probably in need of dental work etc and I just don't want to go thru all of that. Butt dog cost me $400+ just a few months ago. Wanna stay away from the Vets for a while.

Well, it's time for feed again. I think I am going to change my feed mix again. I may either go with their regular mix and have him add the showmaster sheed (like mana pro) to it or go with a scratch grain and cracked corn and add the show master sheen to it. The show master has a very high protien and vitamins.

This is rediculous that I'm paying more to feed my chickens then all of my horses and goats combined !!!! And I'm not getting any Eggs or very few right now !!! We have to add the lights yet.

Oh well, better get on Map Quest and see where I'm going !!!

Looks like a lovely day- see if we can go bike riding with the nice weather. Kids dont have school on mondays in 4k, so lots of free time. Carol- looked at that shed and it looks nice for the price, but dont know how I can get it from there to here! We would love to build a larger shed type coop in the spring. DH is even on board with that. But the places that do what we want, are asking over $1k and that wont happen. Have to find a used one that we can build or a handy person.
