I think he was an escape from a game farm/hunting preserve because I did see a sign about a mile past where I saw him.

Brandislee I am going to teach myself to knit someday. I am crocheting a scarf for a present now. But am thinking of changing over to knitting when I dont have any projects going.

Speaking of roosters
Does anyone have need of a very nice well mannered White Wyandotte rooster named Fred?
He is my 1 extra roo I could not butcher, nor part with for butchering, because he was my sick baby as a chick had some poopy butt problems and after he got bigger and grew outa that my nasty White Rock roosters picked on and beat him up all the time. I thought for sure I would loose him, but he made it, and is still here making my poor girls featherless, well between him and the other roo I have for my mixed flock. So I have 4 Roosters and only 16 hens, I kept a Delaware for my Del. flock a Speckled sussex for my SS gals and Gray Beard the EE for my mixed flock of gals. The Del. and SS are just loose running around my barn, but Fred and gray beard have been with the flock since they arrived here as day olds.
I plan to add more girls come spring, but for now I have way too many roosters!!!!!! per pullets, I have several favorites with saddles on, but still they are missing alot of feathers, and 1 even has wing feathers pulled out on the top from the boys doing the shuffle on her back.
So I do really have to part with 1 and Fred is the only 1, I didn't keep for any particular breeding purpose, though I love how he looks, his massive Rose comb, and his size, he is also a very good rooster with the gals even watches over them when they lay there eggs he stands guard at the nest box usually laying on the shavings in front of his favorite gals. He is such a sweet roo, you can pick him up, pet him trim his nails, whatever he is a very good boy. I want him to go to a good home where he can be a rooster, and enjoy his life. I don;t have enough room for him or he would be staying forever.

Back at ya, Tiki! And sorry for the confusion. Jim & I were just goin' at each other. Yes, we had our southern bash, and it was great fun. And I was there. The original S. bash planner went MIA, & everyone wanted to know if it was still on & when, so I tried to set up a date, but had to keep moving it back due to schedule conflicts. Then Jim told me if we kept pushing it back, it would wind up being the same date as the summer one.

Now about that homeless dude that built himself a shack to live in........why oh why would he build it on the ice?????????? Am I missing something there? And your Mister is one skinny little guy. Good looking though. But he looks like he'd be more of a warm climate bird. Poor guy. He needs some extra down.

x2 Too true, Cind. I think that house is awesome, btw. I'd love to see what it looks like on the inside.

I havent measured but looks to be about 6 feet long by 6 feet wide and at least 12 feet high.

Whoa! That is one tall, skinny shack!

Yeah, I was gonna say that I'd take your colon any day, DrH, but that just really doesn't sound right. Not by a long shot!
lau.gif
And as Jim said, congrats grampa DrH and gramma L. Has anyone ever noticed we can't shorten DrH to DH? At least not without confusing the heck outta everyone.

Maybe DHH?

runnersrunn! Always happy to hear from a fellow cheesehead.

I hope you find a good home for your rooster. You too, GR65.

Geez, Jim that sounds terrible. Get Annie in to see her Dr. At the very least she should talk to a pharmacist. Maybe there is something else she can take. And please tell her to take care of herself.

What a wet, yucky day. But I'll take a wet Dec. day than a snowy one any time.

Oh yeah! Congrats Dr.H on becoming a Grandpa! That is fantastic! Some of my favorite family members growing up were not our blood relatives. Good afternoon! Got the cooking done [I took the regular Cook's place as she had an appt] I didnt care much for her menu...biscuits and gravy (made with pork sausage from Sentry that was WAY too salty!)carrots and tomato soup (home made--very good!) The plate looked empty and I dont know what I would have added but I guess I sure wouldnt have minded a side of scrambled eggs! Sure wish I woulda thought of it cause I could have brought some and made them...maybe drum up some more customers? They sure liked all the eggs I gave them in the beginning of the week!

Jim you didnt say anything about us posting a minute apart...yep--we still got it! H&R...sure am glad your DH told Jim to unplug the tape BEFORE cutting it!
gig.gif
I thought of that dip stuff too...I used to have a couple cans of it around; I think it ended up getting hard. I guess I am glad that I have a pit to pull the hose into when it gets really cold! The thought of electricity running through water kinda freaks me out! I even hate taking the heated ring out of the goat water and moving it into the horse water! I always think I will get zapped! A tank I used to have must have had a short cause when I would put my hand into the water I would feel a little zing on my ring finger where my wedding ring is! Yup...shortly after that the horses wouldnt even drink out of that tank! They can feel electric current even if we cant...it is really weird. I went to actually putting my lips on the water to see if It was shocking them but I couldnt feel anything...Does anyone know if there is any kind of tester that you can dip into the water and see if there is any current? THat would be something I would go out of my way to purchase!

There was something else....oh yeah, the Christmas tree!
lau.gif
(I have a TON of tree stories...) Our very first tree DH put in the trunk of our Datsun (bright green) and as we were driving down Capitol Drive in Milwaukee his knot cam undone and the tree fell out! Then some one ran over it! We went back to get it cause we sure couldnt afford another one...it turned out very nice after we got it decorated...then my first cat "Fisherman" was in the middle of it with his little kitten face staring out at us! We had to attach it to the ceiling so it would stay upright....When we didnt have too much $$$ and the kids were little I used to go outside and cut a bunch of branches from our really BIG pines in the yard and stand them up in a crock with water and rocks...that makes a really nice tree!
At this house...very small...I tried an artificial tree for the first time. I figured that if I didnt put the bottom back layer on the trunk I could push it way back into the corner...yeah...the cats had never bothered the tree...during the night we heard a colossal crash! I lost almost ALL of my glass ornaments cause I had hung them HIGH in the tree in case the cats decided to mess with it! My BFF was so sweet and gave me another German Chicken Ornament for my birthday to replace the one that got broken! Speaking of crashes....just heard a big one from the area of the tree.....

Oh good...it was just the basket of jingle bells that is awaiting greens. My theme is stars, balls and bells this year. 3 glass balls have already been taken off the tree and broken! (we have a semi-kitten)
OK one more tree story about my first cat. He always took the crocheted bells off the tree every year, I hung them low so he didnt mess up anything else. THere were 3. SO after he passed I continued to hang them low next to his "Angel Kitty" ornament (we have an ornament for all of our deceased pets) Well, each year every morning, those bells would still be off the tree......Sure wish I could find my camera so I could post a pick of our tree this year...short and round!

Time to get something assembled for dinner...later everyone! Terri O

(PS) owls dont eat guineas when it is raining at night! THey say they are smart....

Dr Ha Congrats to L and you for the new addition !!! Glad he is a healthy one !! Take care of that knee and have L sit on the other one for a change !!!!
gig.gif

Jim won't you have to have some kind of heavy duty seal on that thing so the force doesn't blow it out. And if it is a Y facing up guess who might get the spray ????

TO wrote: Does anyone know if there is any kind of tester that you can dip into the water and see if there is any current? THat would be something I would go out of my way to purchase!

One year our horses quit drinking too and I stuck my finger in the water and felt that tingle !!! I would definately buy a tester too. Now our GFI outside keeps popping and I see the tank heater plug wire looks funky. Have to check that out. So I still can't get light to the coops !!!

And to top it off one of our ciruit breakers in the house keeps popping. It is for the lights in the kitchen and living room. Can't figure out why that is occurring !!! DH says it is probably from all the dust on the circuit breakers in the basement from the silkies ?????? So now have two things to look into. Oh and of course the other old problem of the new electric underground line to the second outlet we had put outside two years ago doesn't work. Tried changine breakers and GFI, no dice.
Ah I wish DH would find his glasses !!!!! He overlooks so many things and I know he didn't have is glasses when he did that wiring !!!

Had to buy a new staple gun to cover the coop windows because he couldn't find the staple gun. I go downstairs and "ran" across it and the bolt cutter that he couldn't find !!!! Geez, I'm starting to think he has selective eye sight that matches his selective hearing !!!

TO-You are very daring! Glass ornaments and cats/kittens! I'm not so brave. All my ornaments are shatter proof this year. I have nice ornaments that break so I usually put all those at the top of my tree. This year, my tree is only a 3 footer so i just stuck the shatter proof ones on. Oh and DH bought a bling type Princess crown ornament for Princess Grace so that is the tree topper. I normally use my little stuffed Rabbit Angel and my Angel Frog as the toppers, but I did not feel like diggin' then out! I'll have to snap a pic....I need fresh batteries in the camera though.
